This is the worst idea ever, not even to sorry to say that. I get that limits have to be there but your starting numbers of 250/500 are just painfully low (I barely quest here, I don't vend or play stuff like the carnival games and my shop still has nearly 3,000 unique items in it.) and who knows how long it's going to take until the bar is getting raised. Until then, I agree that people will have to move their stuff somewhere and the best option is going to be our Vault. Doesn't that annoy the servers, too or do we get a Vault limit as well for a real dead end?

You give us the chance to increase our limit of course, but - Gold Account again? How much for 500CSC at the moment - 48mil sp while I'm typing this. Why not a non-temporary option that can be bought with sP? I think you want to find ways to get more sP out of the system so wouldn't that be one?

Also - you limited vending, changed the restock system, you lowered the number of quests and now there's going to be a shop limit, too? What are we supposed to do here all day? Playing the games until that puts too much stress on the servers, too?

I really hope that you are going to take the feedback from this thread to heart and make some big changes from your original plan, otherwise I'm not sure if this is going to turn out well in the end. We already are tiny community (At least based on forum traffic, forums are beyond dead it feels.), I doubt we need to lose even more users.

The vault issue was news to me, too and I'm hoping it's misinformation. As for the vending, I saw this in the news comments:

Don&;t worry about vending, I doubt that&;ll stay around long at all. Its days have been numbered for awhile!
which jogged my memory to this thread. It's an old thread and I don't know what necro rules are in that forum, so be careful about posting. That thread spawned out of a conversation on yet another thread I can't find (could've even been in a GA forum I can't see), but maybe can help us? I do know that they've been mentioned about every time site economy or gold accounts are discussed.

There are a lot of good points in this thread already so I won't repeat them. However there are some things I am feeling unhappy about. I have had 1 shop the entire time I have been on Subeta for a reason and, while this may not seem important to most, I have been enjoying building up my 'Total Sales' and 'Total sP Made' numbers for that one shop. Now that I have to switch to a new shop(s) these stats will be lost and I will have to start from scratch. Granted I don't see other people mentioning this so it must be something no one else cares about but still. Is there any way these things (like the sp in the til) can be moved to the new system so we don't have to lose them?

Im not sure you would still be able to get those achievements after everything is switched over. I could be wrong though? It might just be for 'have so many items in your shop gallery', and not the 'total sP earned from this shop' one that'll be retired.

- I wasn't really talking about the achievements as I already have them. I specifically meant that I personally liked having my stats from when I first joined the site and started selling from my shop.

I do feel for people that have been working on those achievements though and hope it can be moved over so people can continue working towards them.

If i understand correctly, once it's implemented you can't add new things to your old shop but you can get them out, yes?

Oh.. and what about installing a general 'remove all' button in the old shops to help people to empty their shops/galleries? One that that can select all items on that page with one click.

One of my galleries is for pet treasures to save having horrendously big treasure chests. I'm reluctant to spend a fortune in sP enlarging my pet's treasure chests in case there's limit on the number of items we can have in them in the future.

My bad D:. Im doing several things at once, so I get kinda wonky when replying to things sometimes.

Theres two specific achievements that from what I understand will be retired...I think the Hoarder one is one of them? Either way, it'll REALLY suck for those people who are trying to get them and won't be able to anymore. Id say if they're with in a certain limit (like. 75% of the total needed), give it to them or an alternate one ("Almost Got 'Em All!" or something like that) so its not a total loss.

Im pretty sure thats the case. I havent tried to add anything to my shops since this new info came out, so Im not sure if the no adding items bit is in effect right now.

Possibly...It might be a while, but it could also be tomorrow, or next week.

A passing thought I just had...If you had several pets you wanted to share a their TCs for some reason, maybe have the option to have multiple pets share a TC, and when you buy a spot (for one specific pet), it adds that number of spots to the 'community' number. If you choose to take the pet out of that group, the number of spots in the community TC goes down by however many that pet has.

tbh I think the crux of all of this is server issues vs. loss of gallery/shop space. and to be frank, i'd go with the former. if we're polling on which we'd rather have, server lag and downtime, i'm okay with even worse server issues than the ones we now- which are already terrible- to keep my galleries. not to mention most people are going to be trying to expand their galleries after this change anyway- whether its with buying shop expansions or whatever, it's just going to turn the same as before the change, just that there'll be an extra barrier to gallery space that will still be circumvented by buyers. to be honest, if subeta has funding issues and needs more servers- or whatever it needs, i'm presuming its a problem with space, it should just appeal to us to donate or introduce more incentives for us to pay- not by restricting users in order to relieve server and database strain.

EDIT: that and i'm a grouch and i guess i'll need to try and throw away all my money before the 17th to vaguely complete my food gallery. <_> i'll not be removing anything from there, ahah.

The whole limit aside, can you please please please remove the gigantic blue banner from the shop search page? It doesn't help going to the new shop search page, if both "back to search" and the "shop search" from quests lead to the old page.

I kind of understand shop limits as they have a lot going on, pricing, searching, etc.

Galleries? Different thing, should be separate from shops. I don't need pricing for my jolly collection, just a place to keep 'em together.

The content limits should go up though- we want a healthy shop sales system, got to have room for stock!

Oh I saw that message. Thought it was a joke XD Read through that a bit. I do hope they don't scrap vending. It's pretty original for the site.

I have always been massively in favour of reducing shop capacity, and I still am! I'm really glad that the site is taking steps to limit shops because hoarding cases such havoc on the economy.

That being said - I wish that the limits were much higher to start with. They just don't make sense. The other day I half-heartedly restocked some shit while watching an episode of something and I added 116 items to my shop. From absolute minimum effort. If you were to quest you could easily generate over 100 unique items. If you were to vend your daily limit you would instantly fill the proposed shop limit. I also think that there needs to be a limit for how much of an item you can have in stock. If someone has 100 of one item and prices it low, the entire price for that item is now crashed for ages, and the reverse if someone buys up an item and overprices it.

It's just too low, and while I understand that it's easier to increase than decrease, even as a starting point it's not feasible. It needs to be higher, because otherwise the site is just going to languish and people will not want to be on Subeta. And forget buying gold accounts, I only get it for autopricer but no fucking way am I buying one to only price 500 items. No one will buy it if they have any sense.

but it&;s kind of scary because, like, what if the numbers DO stay that low?

They're going to stay low. For months. Because staff is going to go and do something else for months, and it's going to take three site feedback threads to get the limit doubled.

This is one of my concerns too and I haven't seen it mentioned on here very much. Can anyone tell me a feature that has been introduced in the past few years that has actually been fixed after release enough that it works 100% every time or as expected? Anyone? I can't think of any.

- Oh, I was just listing things that went through revamps and were either dropped before they were finished, or crashed and burned dramatically. :P

For new things, I guess the shops in Shengui Guo work. I think baking works on a technical level, but the inflation hasn't been very well received.

I understand that a change like this was probably a long time coming, since it's been talked about so much before in the past. I just think the execution is definitely where people feel like the staff are failing the worst.

And I support what other people have said about galleries needing their own system, so that storage in those can remain unlimited. In fact, I've seen that quote from Keith from last year floating around about how that's what would end up happening. Except of course there's suddenly no mention of that anywhere in the news post or other staff posts... :/

Haha yeah. I don't use Alchemy either though so I don't know if it works as intended or not.

Now that I think about it though I think maybe the Bakery? That seems pretty stable.

Go Subeta, you finished one thing!

Ok so this is interesting. I was trying to find the old thread where Keith discussed plans for shop limits, and I found this instead:

So now we have unique item limits in galleries?

Quote by Seoni
During Quickstocking-
"Oh No! You&;ve exceeded the limit of 2,500 unique items in this shop."
When did this become a thing? And doesn&;t it defeat the purpose of the Hoarder achievements?
Seriously I hope this is a glitch, I&;d hate having to take apart one different gallery just to have another one dedicated to hoarding.

Quote by Keith
Whoops! Sorry this wasn&;t meant to be implemented yet :) It&;s only supposed to effect normal shops (as we&;re splitting galleries into a separate feature) and shouldn&;t have been switched on at all. The flag got set.

Just changed it back, sorry :)!

I forgot that happened last year. So apparently they already experimented with making galleries their own thing, but they've done a complete 180 in the past 10 months if I'm understanding the situation correctly.
