I'm in the same boat as Secret. Every page - from the smallest main shop to the front page to forums and everything else - hangs up and won't stop loading at least 2/3rds of the time, forcing me to hit the "Stop" button before it starts affecting how my other tabs load.
Also, hovers have been broken for me for days. The item will show up, but not the avatar base. And NPC images just don't load at all.
The longer I'm on the site the slower it runs, especially if lots of pages have been opened to quest or buy bulk of any item. Then I have to close the browser and reopen it, or it starts lagging every other site I go to as well.
We are looking for alternatives to pusher.js, but until we find something that'll work for the load on Subeta (without going back to our own solution which frequently broke) I've added an option to disable pusher.js on the preferences page. If you disable it, it'll disable live events and the shoutbox, but will make the page hanging not happen at all.

And just a note - we've been looking for alternatives for a long time. The technology is unfortunately mostly focused to sites like facebook (and any newer site) that doesn't reload as you move around the site, but loads the pages via javascript. Subeta reloads on every page, which isn't really built for these kinds of services.

Do you mean if a user is also a member from facebook an logget in his/her account on facebook and then visits Subeta via his/her facebook-account, he/she will better arrive at Subeta than when he/she has not an account on facebook?
I think he just means that pusher works better for sites like facebook than they do for sites like subeta. not that going on facebook will help you at all on subeta.
I just had alternating 504/502 errors for about an hour, and managed to screenshot a couple. I'm on Chrome, and pusher is adblocked.
I had made a forum post and then tried to go to a new topic via notification link.
those errors are explained sorta by this post they're server errors we're all experiencing. pusher isn't the problem in this instance :) if you're using chrome, you probably aren't experiencing any problems from pusher at all.
Finally something! I went there through the lag and the hanging pages, and it stopped immediately when disabling it. WHAT. A. RELIEF.
Just wondering, what is meant with "live events"? Are those just the pop up bubbles that we won't be seeing again, but we will still see events on the side bar, right?
yeah I believe so. you won't see them pop up on the sidebar without refreshing, but you will still get the events, I've been using the new setting since it came out last night and have hardly noticed a difference in my events
Alright, thanks! So far, it's working like a charm for me!
Can we please have a ping for this? I'm sure a LOT of people will want to know about this option.
[edit] The infinite spinny wheel of doom is back again for me. D: This time, it's cdn.segment.com that's loading forever. I disabled pusher through the option Keith provided, but the lag, stupidly high memory load and infinite loading seems to be back.
[edit] Going to keep an eye to see if the cdn.segment.com thing happens again. Restarted my browser, back to questing and so far it hasn't done that again.
I'll ping for now
Read Keith's posts above!
[edit] Only disable pusher if you use firefox and experience freezing tabs, people who use chrome and safari should not be experiencing problems with pusher. Pusher is not the cause of the 502/504 errors everyone is experiencing.
Thank you for the ping
And thank you so much for the option to disable pusher.js ;-;
Thanks for the ping. Thank you for the option.

Thanks for the ping kbbob. I really appreciate it.

Yup, can confirm, now it's cdn.segment.com that's causing issues with lag and loading. :/ Had to restart my browser because Firefox more than doubled in memory load right around when I got the "Read cdn.segment.com" message while doing my Maleria quests.
[edit] Adblocked it and so far, Subeta seems to be blazing fast. No effect on hovers or avatar previews, so if anyone else is having a problem with it - adblock is your savior (once again).
