It's weirdly comforting that I come back, after a year and a half away, and exactly the same post is right here waiting. I'm very much in the camp, if it works fine, if not well it was fun while it lasted. Somethings never change, you just adapt to tolerate it ;)

I have been a member here for just over 9 years and in that 9yrs this site has been through a lot,ok site is having problems maybe we lose a day here and there but it is not like it used to be. I am sure many will remember when we would lose up to a week at a time,Yes there could be more communication to the users on here after all if there are no users there is no Subeta.

I come on here to take my mind off my battle with Cancer and chat with my friends this place keeps me sane just now.

Social volunteers who are on in hours that I and Grace aren&;t can easily update twitter saying "Hey, we know that the site is down and something is being done" while pinging us in whatever channel is easiest to see what the status is. They obviously aren&;t being tasked with resolving the situation, just keeping more information available.

Why can't and/or do this now? Why do you need someone else to do it, for free, when you have all these paid staff members, many of which already have access to the social media platforms

It should go without saying that getting information from an unpaid "intern" is not a substitute for Subeta Staff taking the time to interact and communicate with the players that keep this site alive.

And I just can't even wrap my head around how on earth would you and/or Grace would be able to work on the site, but not post to Twitter? Or text one of those people to do so?

Back in October of 2014 there was an extended downtime with no communication from staff, and I made a Feedback thread about it where you responded with this:

Quote
When we woke up this morning and were made aware of the site being down - we took to fixing it. There was no one on staff who could post on the twitter or facebook (not everyone has those permissions, or should have those permissions) or could actually comment on the status of the servers.

So I am really curious why, a little over a year later, you now appear to think that giving 'those permissions' to brand new, unpaid staff members is a wise move... Or will make any difference in terms of regaining the confidence of many older players that you have lost

Twitter was finally updated but it was with some random NPC trivia thing. Why is posting something like that a priority when we're still having some issues with the site? That's not the kind of communication we're asking for here. Its fun, sure, but addressing the problems is a lot more important. Especially on FB where the mountain of complaints is still unaddressed. Even if they're totally fixed it makes the site look bad to continue ignoring them.

Virtual items / currency / microtransactions. Building out a system that entices people to pay for virtual clothes.

This is from Keith's LinkedIn page.

All I have to say is, is this really what the site has come down to? I mean we all know CW and 'premium' wearable are the site's cash cow, but I would have hoped Subeta was more then just 'a system that entices people to pay for virtual clothes'.

I understand this is a business, it needs to make money, but it's not by only focussing on what makes money that your customers are going to be happy and will keep supporting you. Communication is one of the pillar of good business management, and Subeta has been lacking it for YEARS (please, don't give me that 'we can't post on twitter while we work on the site crap' posting on Twitter takes 30 seconds at most. Don't tell me SOMEONE from staff can't take 30 seconds of their time to post a 140 character update on Twitter every few hours. THOUSANDS of other, smaller, businesse do it. Subeta can too).

If Subeta wants to be a business, what it really needs is to hire someone who knows how to do online business, how to handle customers (cause this is what users are down to now, customers), communication and managements.

Customers won't be happy if you don't communicate, and no matter how 'good' it sounds to say 'I made a system that entices people to pay for stuff!' it's just not something you can say on a public profile your customers can easily find.

(Also I'll like to add that all this is comming from someone who has been working in clients/customers orriented businesses (namely consultation and a law office) since she was 16... I learnt a thing or two about good business practice and Subeta has always done a poor job at most of the basics...)

I think fit the bill. I do believe she has a background in actual administration and management, and I personally appreciate her input towards Subeta.

I'd prefer with her taking a more active place in the community, rather than burden Rah further.

I realize that this thread's original intent was about the downtimes and blank pages and all the other crap that's going on, but I find this thread to be exactly what we are referring to.

Someone mentions an RE hasn't been working, so we'll just retire it. Sucks if you wanted the achievement that went along with it!

Also deleting posts? Really?

Holy shit what. Yes, we absolutely needed the one money sink random event to be retired. A+ economy grasp, staff.

Either the staffs is not able to keep up on their tasks or there isn't enough staff hired. I am getting ready to see the site close down - have been ready for quite some time now. I think were are at a point where the cake cannot be layered with frosting anymore: it's unstable. I'm sad, disappointed but mostly sad because Subeta is my safe heaven. Subeta is the place where I made friends, met some in real life, escape from reality and so on. It saddens me to see that the site is no longer keeping up. I've spent money here because I wanted to. I hoped that this money wasn't just for a virtual thing. I hoped it would help staff, I hoped it would have gone towards the mythical recode like I've been calling it for years: and it saddens me to learn that no, it did not help.

I've seen a member of staff saying that X update was not important to be made an "announcement". Why? Even if only 25 people use it, just say it and call it a day. I don't get why some things are important and then some aren't. It's like saying that X part of the users are important and the rest can wait a bit. We need minimod. I'm sorry but some of them are literally missing for 3 weeks straight. Relaying to an Admin? We can't even have an update about the site going down. It doesn't makes sense at all. The statement overall has me speechless.

I also love how things are retired or deleted if Staff decide to. It's not working? We retire it. It's glitching? Let's remove it to "protect" from further issues. There will be a point where everything will be retired then.

You changed, Subeta.

I actually think the tax RE was taken away intentionally and was just finally retired. it wouldn't be something that would be hard to fix at all I wouldn't think if it was "broken" I am guessing it was taken down when we were discussing adding taxes to user shops and when interest was removed from banks.

If it was when interest was removed, that's just another example of poor staff to user communication because it was not mentioned in the thread that was announced in

Also not in the SP Sink Brainstorming thread

Call me a cynic, but I don't think it was posted about, and if it was I REALLY don't think the siteupdate ping was used. I'd love to be proven wrong though

I went through 33 pages of admin posts until I found staff talking about it currently working and through some siteupdate OPs and didn't find taking it away mentioned.

a siteupdate ping would have been nice. it's much harder to figure out when a low frequency RE is taken away than when crystal rates get changed or when quest points get a new message. but alas, this is why tinyupdate was made.

Also, this might be an extremely unpopular opinion.

But, when the site is lagging, crashing, being generally unpleasant.

Stop giving me cash shop stuff for me to forget about it

I'm not talking about stuff like extending GA time for people who already had a medal activated, obviously. I'm talking about all of these cute little "gifts" we're getting for being "faithful"

I'm a little tired of being bribed to look the other way. I'm a little tired to not be allowed to express myself because I'm just going to be told "you were just given 150 CSC, can you just be grateful" by my fellow users.

I'd rather have all of the money and time used into these little sugar cubes be used in making the site better. Now, everytime something major happens, I'm not expecting a fix. I'm expecting a little gift and the userbase to forget what happened in 1 hour max.

The gift I want for being faithful for 9 years? Communication, and hopefully a working site. Not delegation and sugar cubes.

I don't actually think giving these gifts cost them anything. it's not like Keith had to buy CSC so he could buy each and every one of the 1 week GA medals that went out. if anything, it shows to the members that the site is apologetic for what happened. instead of acting like nothing big happened, they give a gift in apology. The time that went into giving these gifts was also probably very minimal compared to what it takes to fix them. when have we gotten free stuff before this? it isn't often they hand out CSC or GA medals. This was/is an attack that is still being worked on. I don't know what more they can say than "we're still trying to fix this" over and over again.

Sorry for the possibly stupid question, but who is "we"? As in an official inquiry from staff to users? I don't recall ever hearing about adding taxes to user shops, but that could be my memory failing.

And talking about interests being removed, that made me think of Morty Cards:

See here, first post at bottom of the page. Is anything going to happen with those, or is that another forgotten project?

Yeah that's a forgotten project afaik, make a thread about it, maybe they'll comment on what they planned for these.

I don't know how many cash shop purchases were lost because of these gifts, but I can count at least three of them since like, September? October?

It's too often for me. It really feels like I'm dumb. Dumb enough to believe in promises, and dumb enough, because they can buy my silence or whatever.

If getting a free 100 CSC every once in a while is more important to the userbase than having problems that have been known for years fixed (btw, it's not just about the "DDOS attacks", you'd be naive to think it's just about that)...well

Maybe staff is not the problem, after all.

Maybe the problem lies elsewhere.
