I give you props for helping people through that. I would think a lot of people who are filing bankruptcy are in a bad emotional place over it, and some of them might take frustrations out on you.

It really is nice when you get those clients who really need and really deserve help. I just dislike the ones that CAN pay of their debt and try to hide assets from our office in order to file. Had one guy try and file on ~200k in debt and he had 500k sitting in his bank account and a 1 mil house paid off. He just didn't want to USE his "reserve" money to pay off that debt :p

Oh my college had a great language program too! We stayed in 2 places, Bingen and Worms. We all had host parents in Bingen and stayed in a hostel in Worms and it was a month long. We went to a lot of other cities (not Berlin which was unfortunate but I did get to Frankfurt). It was really nice. I did go back to Germany briefly for my spring break senior year. I met a friend who was studying in Tuebingen and we went to the Czech Republic.

I haven't been back since my senior year spring break :( but no I haven't really spoken to my host family. I lost their address a bit after and never found it.

I went to Greece for a month as well. It was with one of our professors and was amazing!

My research is looking at giving scientists working on current environmental monitoring research some background information. I live in Alberta, Canada, and there's a lot of buzz lately about environmental toxins and heavy metals leeching into the groundwater here from the oil industry. Current research shows that indicator species such as water birds and certain fish are bioaccumulating heavy metals like crazy and it's causing a lot of harm by way of decreasing their reproductive success. I inherited 3 boxes of water bird eggshells collected for some PhD thesis work in the early 1970s, prior to heavy industrialization, and so I'm doing heavy metal quantification analysis on them to provide a context to show that yes, levels have increased significantly with the rise of industry in hopes that this proof will spur the government and industry at large into action to help protect our environment, as currently scientists can say that yes, there are metals present, but without historical context they can't directly correlate those metal levels to industrial development.

All the fun stuff is over with, now I have pages upon pages upon pages of numbers to work with and statistical analyses to run. >.>

That's really awesome. The class I worked with this week has been studying ocean pollution and some of the efforts made by young people to reduce it. It's great seeing kids excited about that. It sounds like you've done a lot of research. I'll bet it will really pay off in the end.

Do any of you have plans for the weekend? I'm going to a cookout Sunday and watching my neice hunt eggs. She's two, so it should be pretty amusing. :)

Ah, a class after my own heart. Marine conservation is my end goal, I'm hoping to do a masters along that vein. :) I agree, I've seen some things young people have been doing - it's incredible, and so heartening!

I did a lot of statistical work today and it turns out that at least I know my data is fairly normally distributed and robust, so that's a good first step! I'm super excited!

Scifi and fantasy, with a side of mystery. I'm looking in particular for the Brandon Sanderson (Mistborn), Elizabeth Haydon (Symphony of Ages +) and just about anything by Mercedes Lackey, provided I've not already read it.
