I had no idea there was something called the Fairy Tale Route, but that looks really fun! There are so many beautiful things to see in Europe - Southern Europe in particular, if you ask me.

Thanks! :D I'm actually packing as we speak! I have no idea what to bring; what will I need?! I always end up packing for a week, and then only using half of what I bring xD But I want to be prepared for everything!

Thank you! I'm very excited. It's really good to have some place to let your mind free, and not worry about the next 200 pages to read or paper to turn in! :)

He looks forward to it when it is convenient. I know he wants to ride a school bus (but he'll be walking, which he doesn't know yet) and he knows all his sight words and is starting to read, so he wants to read more in school. But when he refuses to put his shoes on by himself and I tell him that teachers won't put shoes on for him in kindergarten, he suddenly is perfectly happy to be in preschool.

That is a lot of writing; you should be proud! Was it a HP-collab or something different?

I agree; It's better to have a little extra than too little because it might be hard to find certain items in a foreign country. Are you going with school/do you have a certain itinerary to follow when you arrive?

Ah, that sounds normal for a four-five year old. Those last few months until he starts can make a big difference too. It's great that you've had your kids in daycare. At least you know he should be okay sharing attention with other kids when he starts class.

no, not for HP. It's a future-fantasy setting where the gods got fed up with humans and put the monsters in charge, and now humanity is pretty much enslaved. But we're starting a rebellion. ^.^ It just came so easily with the other two I was working with!

What countries have you traveled to in Europe? Is there a country you particularly like?

No, actually it's just me and my boyfriend going on an extended weekend trip during the easter holidays! :3 We'll have two full days of "exploring", and I think we will use one for nature hiking and the other going to a larger city. Since we're driving from out homecountry (Denmark) it takes about 12-13 hours, so we won't have too much to do on the day we arrive and leave, but the trip itself should be fun! I love roadtrips! We'll be gone for a total of five days, as we're also staying one night in Germany!

I've been to quite a few, actually! When I was a child my parents used to take me and my brother on vacation to France, Hungary, Italy and other different European countries. I think some of my favorites were France (never been to Paris, though), Greece and Austria! France just has the best food and culture. I really like Greek mythology and architecture, so I really loved Athens! And Austria has the most beautiful scenery! What are your favorite places to go? :)

I've only left the United States once in my life. I visited the Bahamas a few years ago on a cruise. I might go to Cuba this summer, which would be exciting. I might have the chance to go to Washington DC too. My brother moved there this past fall. I'm going to be taking a class over the summer so I'm not sure if I will have time to travel around.

I've love to go to visit Santorini or Vienna. I have a friend who is lives in Paris. She had never stepped foot in Germany until this year. I've heard visiting Greece is nice because it's not too expensive. My cousin went to Paris last September. She would probably move there if she could. Have you visited Versailles?

I would love to go to Bahamas!! I've never been to the states, but I would like to! I think there're so many places to visit and many things to see! Washington DC being one of them!

I think lately Greece is not necessarily the best place to go - with the refugee crisis and everything. The islands (like Rhodes and Crete) should be fairly unaffected though. I have never been to Versailles, but would LOVE to. Usually on my vacations we have gone to more family oriented places, and not big cities and destinations. I have been to the Carcassonne Castle, though. That's really beautiful and fascinating if you like old medieval fortresses!

That sounds really cool. I would imagine it might be hard to write something like that with two other people. That's great that you could work well together. Were you writing a drawn-out rp or a work of fiction?

That sounds amazing. Also, that's nice that you two get to plan everything and not be shuffled around with a group. You are both from Denmark, then? It looks like such a gorgeous country.

Aw, now I feel bad for joining in on the chat after prizes just got announced.

Anyway, howdy y'all. Nice to meet you guys!

I've been writing a TON the last few days. Tumblr writing blogs are such a blessing. I've been so motivated! I just wish that I could get courageous enough to branch out of fanfiction, haha. But hey, at least I'm still enjoying my hobby, right?

How does everyone else feel about writing? If you're writing something right now, what is it?

I went to Greece, Germany and the Czech Republic when I was in college. I was a language major so I was lucky and it was all paid for (I did work a job at the college to pay for part of the Greece trip). Since I met the other half, we had been cruising a lot. It is fun!

Nah, no worries! ;) What type of fanfiction do you write? I love reading fanfic, but I've only ever read HP. I'd like to read Avatar the Last Airbender one day along with some other shows. But I don't yet have the skill to write any. I give you major kudos.

That sounds amazing! It's my hope one day to travel more in the future. I was born in Germany, but I moved to the states before I started school, so I hardly count that as travel. I'd love to go back and see it. Cruises can be very feasible now.

What did you earn your college degree for? Translating languages?

I got 2 degrees...German and Classics. I am afraid I don't use them very much and my conversational German is falling ever so short of what it should be. I actually just work in a law firm as a paralegal right now so I am not using it.

You may not use the degrees directly, but I'm sure you developed a lot of critical thinking-skills that helps you with law. I'm pretty sure is studying German in school now. It is such a beautiful language.

What does the study of Classics entail?

It was an intro post for most of our chars for an rp someone is running. The rp looks like it's going to go for a while, if all goes well! bounces

I did learn a lot that will help me but I really regret not doing more.

Classics can go two ways, well three I guess. You can do the language heavy version which is a lot of either latin or ancient greek and a little of the other. You can do the history heavy version which is a lot of greek and roman civilization and literature classes. And then there is a combo of the two. I did more of a combo. I concentrated on ancient greek rather than latin (most people do more latin) and I took a lot of history courses. The language heavy version is a specialized degree called an AB (Artium Baccalaureatus). Not all colleges have it but mine did. I wanted to be a classical archaeologist specializing in Bronze Age Greece, but there are like 2 colleges in the US that has that and it just didn't work out.

That sounds like a lot of work. I understand where you're coming from though. I got a duel degree in psychology and English (mostly rhetoric and classics). Now, I work in school systems (non-licensed) and retail. I'm just now beginning to appreciate that I even went through school-- that it was something that made me into a better thinker and a better person. It can definitely feel like a sour pill though.

Archeology sounds like it would be a competitive degree field. I hope you're not too discouraged. I've talked to a lot of professors who went back to school in their 50s and 60s and became very successful in their fields.

Hah, that is exciting. What site do you use for rp-ing?

It is not so much competitive as it is offered many places. I like pre-greek lanugage (called Linear A and B) and there is just so little on both that no one wants to teach it. And you know, maybe one day. It is hard right now because I just had a baby (this past May) and there is just too much travel involved to bring a little one.
