2,214,768 profit for under 10 minutes of work. And I can't even call it work as I didn't have to think about whether or not doing the quest was smart, I just clicked and bought over and over.
I am sure there are plenty of players that will love this, but it really seems like this was just a step backwards
Enjoying it whilst it lasts! However I was hoping for quests to start giving out more valuable items, i personally find it more exciting when you might get a 400k item back or a 20k one than just sp and its more chance based. but more sP does need to be given out too!
Also, have random events likelihood of occurring been boosted? had 3 in less than an hour but that i'm defo no complaining about I prefer it like that so much more!
Here's some feedback for you. :)
Agreed, it feels overtuned in its current state. Previously, some quests felt more rewarding than others, and that's fine. Variance means some people only do some of the quests, but in its current state, people are going to feel obligated to "DO ALL THE QUESTS!".
Assuming you've got a bit more wiggle room to hand out sP generously to active players that spend more time on the site doing dailies, what with all the sP sinks you've been gradually introducing. This is definitely too much though.
So, let's have a quick look at the quests, and what they offer(ed).
Wiz - tokens! Hoorah, we like those. And profitable payouts, even ignoring the tokens. Probably didn't need tuning at all. Pete - Already profitable, worth doing unless he asks for extremely expensive items. Seemed fine. Maleria - Same boat as Pete, though maybe slightly less generous? Still fine. Quentin - item sink for holiday items. Generally break even if the items asked for have been hoarded up already, otherwise profit from payout. Chance for mage ammies as a bonus make it worth bothering with. Raising the payouts.... is just going to encourage people to hoard the holiday items being asked for to a higher price, until payouts are close to break even again. Capitalism, HO! Carl - Slight profit, chance to take very nice items out of his pockets as a bonus. Nice niche spot on the quest list, and further gated by needing to unlock him through map pieces. Library - Much better than it used to be prior to the book shop restock changes; profit a bit / break even on sP, with the item rewards again making it very worth doing. Probably didn't need tuning. Cinthia - Her disturbing penchant for demanding human remains, and demonic tools notwithstanding, she felt very lackluster compared to everyone else. She could actually use some tweaking. Cursed - worth doing when they aren't asking you for subQ items. Still feels a bit underwhelming, and might want some tweaking. Saggi - Ahhh.... The rich snob, who has enough payout variance to be frustrating. Why is he frustrating? Because you can spend less per item than what his average payout seems to be, and still get short-changed. So, the situation prior to this change was you'd skip him if he asked for items too expensive, and come out ahead on average on the ones worth doing. Ok then, let's change him! Make the payout a function of the amount spent on the items..... oh, except then people just always do all his quests, come out ahead, and the item prices and average profit just keep rising. Crud. That won't work.... Oh, i know! LET'S JUST LOWER THE FRIGGIN VARIANCE. And combine the two approaches to calculating payout, so he's still not worth always doing, but is less of a mean asshat that frustrates people and turns them off doing his quests, before they figure out when he's worth doing and when you should be telling him to go shove it.
So, saggy payout = ( (aveitemcost+5k) * RAND(between0.6,1.6) ) * ITEMSWANTED ) + ( RAND(between0,5k) * ITEMSWANTED )
... Yeah, i don't code. Math should be understandable though.
He asks for four items worth ave10k each in usershops?(unlikely) you get between 36k-116k, average 36k profit. He asks for four items worth ave60k each in usershops? (more common with current prices of the stuff he asks for) You get 156k - 404k, average 40k profit. Huh. average profit should go down as item costs go up.... drop down the UPPER bound on the random multiplier so there's a cutoff where he isnt worth doing if item prices go over whatever point you think is healthy for the economy (not the lower one, otherwise worst case scenario is more frustrating, which is what we want to avoid). Too lazy to edit this myself and do that for you. Idea should be clear enough anyway.
Point being, possible losses are smaller, still worth doing below a certain item cost.
As he is now, he IS overtuned, and too rewarding. Item prices for the pool of items he asks for are going to go flying up until he's no longer worth doing, and that point is way above where it already was.
I'd suggest change how you calculate just Saggi payouts until he's in a spot you like. Want to tinker with the other quest givers as well? Stop cursed asking for subQ items, increase Cinthia payouts by 25% or so. Then wait for the dust to settle, and figure out if you want to give everything a flat %age increase, or some other sort of change afterwards. As it stands now, it's too much at once. Baby steps, . :P
So they're less generous this afternoon to me, although that could just be chance. Anyone else got a recent data point?

I've pretty much doubled my sP from last night. 11.5 mill last night and I'm almost there again now. The only quest giver that's still normal for me is Quentin.
I wouldn't mind more valuable items, but the fact of the matter stands that they're pains to sell. I'd rather the pure over the items because that way you can save up more easily for what you want than getting an item you don't want and it taking forever to sell.

I got almost 3m from Saggi today. I felt really lucky. ._.
Just pushed some more changes (hope you all got a chance to get MAD MONEY :P) to quests in general to bring them more in line with what we're looking for.
What you should find after these changes is that it's a lot more predictable what you're going to get for these quests, including Sagg. It's a lot more normalized, where quests are giving about the same amount of value - Sagg is just giving sP instead of items.
I'm going to keep an eye on the quests going out today as well as running a few more internal tests on it, but I'm probably not going to touch anything very much for a few days while we collect that data since this was a pretty big change on the backend :)

... This is what I get for taking the time to give feedback before finishing my quests for the day. Figured you'd wait to make further changes til rollover, in the interests of fairness for timezones etc, and so people wouldn't whine about missing out.
shrug
Can't wait to try these out tonight, Keith! Getting mad money was fun while it lasted. :D
I just got 5 mage amulets from Quentin...but the sP gives seem to have stabilised.
Finished Cinthia's Quest!
YAY! You got them! I know JUST where I'm going to put these. And see, I didn't forget; here are some prizes just for you!
24,500sP AND
You earned 1 QuestPoint! You can spend it here!
AND
Electric Meat Grinder
Oh my where did Cinthia get a meat grinder XD.
Thank you for putting the fun back into all of the daily quests on the site ❤.
A friend is someone who knows all about you and loves you just the same ❤.
It was fun to get a bonus day, but I'm excited to see what the future holds. I'm really glad this area of the site is being focused on.
Tried out Saggi's Quests again and sadly have to say that they're no longer worth doing again. Although getting huge profits every quests was impractical, getting practically nothing every quest also does not work very well. Right now most of Saggi's Quests are costing me around 150-200k+ and he is only giving around 200k in return, even for 4 item quests which is pretty awful. Generally speaking, when I'm spending around 200k for a quest, getting a return profit of 20l in return simply not worth even bothering with those quests. Looks like I'm back to ignoring Saggi's Quests unless he's WSQ, because his quests simply cost way to much bother with such a low payout.
At least getting mad money was fun while it lasted!

I have mixed feelings about the most recent Saggi quest revision.
It's really beneficial for individual users. It's not giving out ludicrous sP as yesterday haha, and it's very consistent in giving profits for each quest.
However, I'm not sure if it's good for the economy. Because almost every quest is guaranteed a profit, the prices of rares are going up, breaking the 50k mark currently. For example, I did a quest with 3 rares costing roughly 70k each (210k total). I wondered if this will net a loss, but I got about 250k. That's quite a lot of sP injected in the economy to earn like 40k per quest.
I don't know if the intention is to drive rare prices up, although certainly it did. Back then, it was fairly easy to find Saggi asking for rares for lower prices like 5k and getting around 100k per quest (injected in the economy).
Perhaps Saggi should ask for 2 items instead of 3 or 4, but still keep this method for payout?
If prices increase to a huge amount, you have a supply problem. It would be possible to add them back to vending at a small rate and keep this change to quests. Just my opinion though. .
Okay, as I start my daily questing, here is first feedback, for Cinthia. Keep in mind, while I always have some set amount of sP out at start of each questing day, so I can approximately say, how much I've earned, I never did it separate, until now.
So okay, Cinthia, 156K profit. Which if I remember right, it's better than (pre-yesterday) regular. I like it. It seems just okay. :) And I'm so happy that the quests are being worked. on. :) Mori: 859K ... okay. XD Library: 269K, I quitted 2 quests, cause the books were too expensive. (I set my limit at 40K) Maleria: 724K Pete: 419K Quentin: 131K + 3 elemental amulets (14/15 quests done) Saggitarius: 786K. every quest was (even if minimum) profit. payouts constantly between 99K-150K, never more or less. Wizard: 739K, 5-6 payouts 80K+
Look obviously 4mil+ profit everyday is Bad and unsustainable but can we like... find a middle ground... today's quests were extremely boring, consistently paying 80-90k to get 110-120k is boring. Blergh.
I didn't mind getting losses from some quests, as long as there's that one moment of "YAY!" from the one quest where you get 400k. and some days you don't get any of those quests, and some days you get three. that was nice. :/
I usually don't keep track, but I did today just to see what was going on with the most recent quest change. All in all, I made 4.2mil profit today in addition to all of the items that I can now put in my shop and sell. Here's the breakdown:
Carl- 476,476sP, cheap items (quit 1 quest) Cinthia- 98,412sP, rare items Cursed- 889,633sP, mostly cheap items and 3 rares Library- 298,066sP, super rare items Maleria- 572,533sP, cheap and rare items Pete- 500,994sP, cheap and rare items Quentin- 22,371sP, 2 mage amulets Saggi- 719,474sP Wiz- 652,660, wizard tokens
Changes that I liked: Quentin seems pretty back to normal. I actually usually lose sP on them, but the reason people do those quests is because of the mage amulets Though Saggi has become predictable, I still like this better than when I was losing sP on every quest of his. This could probably still use some tweaking, but it's getting there. I've always tended to make about 50-100k profit with Cinthia, but the more expensive items she's currently giving out are kind of nice.
Changes that I didn't like: In particular, it looks like Mori and Nori are giving out too much? I made way more there than I even did with Saggi, plus she gave me some rares. I do Library quests for the super rare items. I don't necessarily care about making sP, and in the past, I've always ended up losing a few hundred thousand sP, but the item prizes have always been worth it. Alexander could probably stand to give out a little less monetary reward. Wizard is still giving too much sP. If the Wizard completely stopped giving sP and just gave tokens, I'm pretty sure most people would still continue to do Wizard Quests.
TL;DR- The quests still need some work to find a happy medium, but I think we'll get there! Thank you to the staff for messing around with them! :)
