Yes, it's absolutely distasteful. I hate this item and I actually downloaded a browser extension to change the name so I don't have to see it. I've been hoping staff would eventually change it but I guess not.

Every time I see this item I remember that it used a lot in cartoons when a woman ran after a man or animal with a rolling pin and it puts a nostalgic smile on me.. So I don't understand why some people are so difficult and insisting to be offended from this item.. It's not giving you the option "hit your partner with it" or something..

Maybe if we changed the description it would be less offensive (and be more humorous like it was intended to be)? Like... I think this would be funny/sweet: "Directions for use: Step One: Give to spouse. Step Two: Leave room. Step Three: Watch through keyhole as spouse waves around furiously and screams out aggression. Step Four: Return when spouse is tired and give kisses till both of you feel better."

I don't feel like this item has to mean it will be used for hitting someone. Flailing it around randomly could be good enough for stress relief. Maybe just changing the description would be enough to keep this issue from constantly coming up? I don't really care if it is removed though. shrug

Hmm. I don't think the item itself needs to be deleted, nor the name of the item changed. But the item description does bug me a little. Specifically the words "scare your spouse into changing their attitude." If you don't know about the trope and are seeing it out of context, it does sound very confrontational. Maybe all that needs to be done is change the description to something that more clearly indicates that it's an old slapstick joke.

Just a thought. Probably one to be strongly considered if people keep bringing this particular item up.

tbh i wouldn't lose any sleep if the item got redone. i'm not personally offended by it, but this isn't the hill i want to die on either. its up to the site to decide if they really want to deal with this being brought up again and again (because it WILL be brought up again, and there is a reason for that)

i will say this though: just because something's traditional, commonplace, or a common trope doesn't mean it's not in poor taste

Perhaps the item should just be renamed to Attitude Adjuster, and replace the word "spouse" in the description to "opponent" since it is still a weapon?

Am I offended by this item? No, but I see why others might be and are. Do I find this item funny or amusing? I have no strong feelings either way; it's just another site item to me. Am I tired of seeing this brought up because it's controversial? Absolutely.

I feel like it's the wording of it that makes it problematic. One of my favorite item descriptions on site is: because it's mentioning the cliched joke but at the same time is saying nooo don't do this

The item in the OP doesn't take this approach. Is it joking? Sure. Is it considered to be in poor taste? Sure. Should it be changed because it makes you feel uncomfortable? I don't agree with that or else it's a slippery slope. There are items on subeta that make me feel uncomfortable, but just because I feel that way doesn't mean others feel the same way, so I don't let it affect me. I just ignore it.

To some, this is a just a joke. To some, it's disgusting. But come on, it's subeta. Live and let live? :s You can block the image or change the wording or ignore it. Just because something is in poor taste to some doesn't mean it deserves to get censored.

Not personally offended by this item, especially since it doesn't specify violence against one particular gender. I can see how people can be offended by it though. I have my own issues with the constant need to be PC though. I feel people need to ease up a bit.

It's about time tbh.

I mean the fetus pops don't bother me but I can understand why they bother other people, and it wouldn't affect me much for them to be slightly altered. I never understood why people were so quick to defend this, or run about shouting about 'things being too pc'
