Can we please not with the personal remarks?

It&;s a revamp, there&;s a News post and a thread about it. She looks fine. Quit being so judgemental and rude.

EDIT: Plus, is it just me or is the whole crossdressing remark sound a little, I dunno, transphobic? Just because she isn&;t the picture of delicate chinadoll femininity it doesn&;t mean she looks like a man. And even if she did, who cares? Real people look like that, there&;s no need to be rude about it.

No, it's not just you, it's a disgusting view and people need to learn when to keep their thoughts to themselves, no one wants to hear it.

Fear not, Subeta staff and judgmental users, for I have found the perfect model for all further NPC revamps (and new ones ! Because we can't stray from the uhm norm). No need for diversity ! No need to take the NPC's with generic-Anime-syndrome and give them more distinct features ! No need to fear them being called fat or manly or ugly ! You can forever have the same structure of big obviously-not-fake-just-perfectly-round boobs, big hips, tiny waist, and pale skin !

Ah, such realistic beauty.

(Quick note, I am not in any way insulting Valeria Lukyanova. She's lovely, but even she will tell you she's had plenty of plastic surgery)

Yes she used surgery to make herself look like a Barbie doll. I'm 99% sure she had some ribs removed to slim her waist line but yeah completely unhealthy :/

As for the shinwa revamp I think what I don't like about the art is that she has a young childish face on a woman's body so there's a disconnect between her facial features and body features. Just looks...off to me. Dunno how else to describe it

I get that you're trying to be cute, but she's a real person, and using her as the basis of emphasizing how gross someone that skinny is to you is ... not nice.

Like I already said, I just love the new Shinwa. She looks like a real Greek Goddess now. And yup, I actually am skinny, and I can&;t see where I should be offended by this. Really.

It was more offending to see a skinny Shinwa with huge breasts, like before.

I've seen several people make comments like this, like it's IMPOSSIBLE to be slender and still have large breasts. Why is it people howl over the mere mention of cross-dressing, but it's fine to make comments about skinny people?

Gotta agree with twocents. I can understand the point the post was trying to make (Subeta better conform to one specific beauty ideal or everyone will lose their shit) but posting pictures of that particular woman- even if you claim she knows her surgeries aren't healthy, really isn't cool.

I'm pretty sure no one is thinking it's impossible for slender women to have large breasts, they are talking about the particular way that the older version of Shinwa was drawn, almost like a ridiculous comic book and anime style. It made no sense. And the cross dressing comments is out of line irregardless.

Sorry, but I've seen lots of women with that general build. Saying that it's ridiculous or makes no sense is a slam against naturally large-busted women.

- I'm not sure they're trying to lump all skinny individuals into the category of that particular individual. That person went above and beyond what is physically allowable to the human body. The image that person is representing is beyond unhealthy. I don't believe fat or skinny shaming is acceptable but that person is seriously compromising their health, and setting a very bad example by essentially creating Barbie in real life :/

That doesn't change the fact that she's a real person, and that it's still not nice to hold up any person as an example of, "Ugh, amirite?"

The posts I've seen are talking about an outdated cartoon character who's body was drawn in a very stereotypical style that lacked much substance outside of, 'oh look she's got floating boobs.'

If people are actually saying, it isn't possible for a slender woman to have large breasts, then you are completely right, those comments aren't appropriate.

I do hope like pointed out earlier in the thread, that changes this drastic aren't done to every single NPC. Looking at the shop keepers in particular I do wonder that the site is just going to replace them with strange noses and unique body shapes.

But why even bring them in this discussion at all? A picture of a Barbie Doll would have been just as thought provoking and less derogatory.

You can't really say that she's not wearing some sort of support, just because you can't see straps. Also, at a certain age, teens to early 20s, lots of women can get by without support. There's nothing magical about it. Once gravity and age sets in though...sighs

Also, I have to agree with you about those NPCs, they're lovely. Really, if they want to update the art and make it more real, does that mean they have to sacrifice the beauty of the originals?

that is true! Never doubt the mystical powers of supportive wear! I think this revamp brought out the worst in all sides of people no matter whether they preferred the old or new.

I really hope the site does do a lot more internal critiquing though, I think it would elimiate many of these issues.

Yes, this is one of the most heated discussions I've seen. I think it would help if the art wasn't changed so drastically in the future. Enhance, yes. Turn the NPC into a totally different person, no.

One aspect this debate has brought to light - certainly for me at least - is how possessive people can be of their favourite characters. It seemed most odd to me at first until I realised I'm exactly the same with minion revamps. I find myself awfully attached to some of their pre-revamp images, because that's how they were when I first saw them or I loved all their quirks and mismatched art styles, etc..

And sometimes a revamp isn't an "update", like what seems to have been expected in Shinwa's case. Sometimes a revamp is a revamp. And the new art feels a bit like a new character; similar but not quite the same.

So although I don't mind at all a character being changed completely (not that I personally find Shinwa's new image to have changed her that drastically), you've got to admit: it's to Subeta's credit that us, the members, find ourselves so loyally attached to some of its charms. :)

Hi, I'm skinny. Hell, a few years back I was that skinny. By no means do I suggest skinny people, or people with natural (or fake ! I am all for plastic surgery) large breasts + small waists are at all bad or unrealistic. Nowhere did I ever imply that her body was bad. And she's quite pretty.

You still didn't need to bring her into the conversation at all, considering how ridiculous this entire topic and news post has become.

Your point easily could have been made by including a picture of a barbie doll.

I never said that you were being derogatory toward skinny people in general. What I said is that holding up a picture of any real person with the purpose of criticizing their body is unkind.

Had I thought of putting a picture of an actual doll, I would have. I actually thought of using a picture of a Real Doll but didn't want to get into trouble for posting a very large sex toy. My brain didn't connect dots. That first sentence is accurate though ? Her boobs are fake and rather round, purposefully done. She is skinny, pale, and has hips. The second sentence should have been removed (as I actually intended for it to be). I didn't intend to insult any of her body or looks. Or anyone that looks similar.

This is true, but by no means did I actually intend to insult her body.

I USED to be skinny and like the majority of women in my family, large-breasted. That may be why I'm kind of sensitive when people seem to be jeering at certain body types. Of course these days I'm NOT skinny and cough support is a necessity...
