Here&;s what I think may have happened, judging by the complete silence we&;re getting:

Keith hates restocking. That writing on the wall has been there for a long time. But, he can&;t completely remove it from the site, because it&;s a major site feature and there would be an outcry. So maybe he does the next best thing -- he "fixes" it. He&;s always said he doesn&;t think a lot of people restock, so by pushing an annoying but less-noticeable than deleting the whole concept "fix", he only drives away that very small, small number of people (in his mind) who restock actively and would notice the changes. No people who restock left, restocking&;s essentially killed without ACTUALLY removing it from the site. Boom.

I don&;t think he saw this level of backlash coming, and now he&;s in over his head and doesn&;t know what to do, so we just get no response at all.

Just my personal theory.
I genuinely hope that isn't the case but as complaints go unacknowledged I'm starting to lose faith
I'm starting to wonder if the silence is designed to make us give up complaining and just accept the broken restocks.
Things actually seemed to have picked up a bit today; some shops have more items coming up, but it's not consistent and stocks are still very stunted. Still a decent improvement by any means.
Maybe I'm just in a good mood, but I'm not too wound up by the lack of staff response. I'm pretty optimistic about it being resolved (especially since a few item prices are getting a bit interesting). I'm past all the conspiracies that they're "starving the beast" to get rid of it. If it was going, they wouldn't have been poking around trying to find a more productive restocking model. Finding that balance between what's good for the economy and the users isn't easy. It isn't going to be like this forever.
tbh I haven't seen any improvements, just a few more junky items getting stocked. I still haven't nabbed any "good" restocks. And I am rather frustrated by the silence as it's getting a little deafening. All these pings and not a single word...
I feel like it's become marginally better in the last day, myself. I see more than the same fifteen items in the store, which is nice, although it remains to be seen how well that works.
This restocking bottleneck has absolutely changed my restocking style, however. Now that what I see in the shops isn't worth much at all, pretty much across the board, I'm falling into the "buy everything I can find no matter what", and then "hoard the crap until it's worth something on the rebound" which I'm pretty sure is not the intent.
But when I see very little but junk for offer in the stores and the promise that "it might be worth more later," the folks who hoard all the things in their stores start looking smarter than ever.
:/
The good news about this mess is that now there are tons of rares under 3K that you can frag for crystals 9_9 I was cautiously optimistic when I heard about the changes. Now, I'd just like to have restocking returned to how it was before it was "fixed."
I don't even see any new items a lot of the time when a shop so-calls "RSes". All I see is the same stuff as before. The length of time in between each so-called "RS" is ridiculous, too. Sometimes over 15 minutes. I don't know why these changes were made but they aren't good.

I would love to see this happen. But I'm not expecting it.
These days I vend instead of restock, especially at Blue Sky so I can get those damned, ridiculously overpriced "normal" books.
And seriously, if you want to "fix" the economy, get rid of vending. Quit screwing with restocking, which used to work just fine before all these "fixes."

I think people would be in uproar if vending got taken away. Having 23315489376537593 of the same items in NPC shops for super long periods of time doesn't help much, either.

On reading rubervulgaris quoted post this is the second time that I have read that Keith hates restocking so what if he hates it other people on here like to restock.
If it is the case that in his mind not many people restock he has been shown he is so wrong with people complaining about the shop restocks So I myself think it is about time for him to admit he was wrong and just put the shops back to the way they were before he started these so called fixes.
All this silence is not doing the people on here any good instead of fixing something that did not need fixed fix the things that do need it or is it going to be the same as it always is wait until there is an event and start doing the fixes or add new things which muck things up on here.
I'm not a restocker, so I just moseyed over to the shops to see what was restocking... nothing spectacular until I went into the Magic Box... Nightmare Potion Purchased I see you have a discount card! I'll give you a discounted price of 15,197 sP! Nightmare Potion has been added to your inventory.
Whenever I go there, there's nothing in it, usually those fangs and healing potion. Was quite surprised I even got it.

Congratulations on your lucky find. Some restockers, however, want the mid range items which hardly ever turn up now. These are the bread and butter things which sell to people doing quests.
Congrats on your find! It's gotten much rarer with the changes to come across items like that in the NPC shops, but when they do pop up it's totally awesome. :)

Is he on holiday? If so, it would be nice if a staff member let us know when he's due back.
Since you guys are pretty good at replying - are there no other programmers that can look into the restock rates? Keith hasn't been online for 3 days and the last time he commented on the restock rate problem was the 21st saying that he didn't see an issue, when it's clearly been happening for a long time now. This is ridiculous and affecting people's ability to RS and quest.
is a common item currently selling for 99k in SS because they aren't restocking.
Thank you. I see what you guys are talking about. I usually quit quests if the item is too expensive. So this is the problem. I hope this issue gets addressed.

If we're listing examples, I just had to decline two wizard quests (wizard quests!) because of these common items:
97k -
454k (!!) -
And this is part of why I get so irritated when I see posting that he is working on this or that for the battle system.
Not that the battle system doesn't need to be improved. But finishing one task before starting another seems like common sense.
And that whole Minion Battling System that regular users still can't use? Yeah, that was a fine example of pisspoor time management and prioritization.
