Crowd sourcing is great. Let's do it. But let's know exactly what we want beforehand.

I thing for at least the head layer we have to do CWs. The face is very limited in what can have CWs, not so the head.

Tags for the head I think we are going to have to keep either very broad (accessories and hair/wig) or have multiple sub-categories. Accessories could have animals, flowers, etc but wigs would have colors, I imagine. And how narrow are we going to go with that? Red can cover a multitude of shades, for instance. And not only are there people who are color blind there are differences in color perceptions and the way monitors display color.

What I am saying is, yes, let's do it. But let's be well thought out and organized first.

Perhaps we could ask our userbase for their suggestions on what tags they would like to see?

I can imagine people wanting hair to be sorted into short, medium, and long as well.

good point. how short is short and when does it turn into medium? And when does medium turn into long?:P

That's what's tricky! I go by short = above chin, medium = between chin and shoulders, long = shoulders. We could also add super short = above ears?

We have some of these same issues with the minionizer -- some of the categories are subjective.

We can create a forum for our wardrobe taggers to discuss these issues and build consensus. Even if they don't tag every item exactly the way we think they should be tagged, I bet they'll come awfully close.

Let me work on some code and we can test it before rolling it out.

Ah hair...one of my defining characteristics for hair, is not so much length, but how much it blocks the HA. So even if a hair style is long, if its in a pony tail, or all piled above the head, I think of it as a "short" style.

Personally I think we should go crazy tagging - color, length, maybe even style (ponytail, bun, etc). There are sooooooo many wigs, if I'm going to make use of the tag system to dress my HA, then I want to winnow out the max number of items possible, while still having enough things to look at that I'll be able to find the "perfect" hair for my HA. But the more results I get from my tagging selection, the more time it will take to open each individual item to look at it and see if it will work.

I've noticed a funky issue that I keep meaning to ask about and that is apparent with the latest addition of the cake slices.

Sometimes, if the keywords in an item's notes are a link, you don't get those items returned as a result.

So like, if you click Lypsyl's link to see all the new cake slices, it returns 0 results because the note that the slices come from cutting a Colorful Mystery Cake, Colorful Mystery Cake is a link back to that item.

Is there a way to fix that so it recognizes the words in notes even if they're part of a link?

That link she inserted had an ' at the end of it. I fixed it but gave no thought to the site might be doing something funky

Hi there -- which link do you mean by "Lypsyl's link"? The one at the bottom of the news article that takes you to https://www.subetalodge.org/list_all/rhigh/999/excludeub/true/notes/Colorful+Mystery+Cake? If so, that link returns 15 items for me. Is it returning 0 for you?

Sorry, I was totally not clear but yes that was the link. I know it's happened with other things, I'll start making a list and checking their notes to make sure it's not just a funky stray addition to the link before I post any others :)

Reaper is correct about the link issue with respect to the search. Its a little hard to explain and I've always just assumed that it couldn't be fixed. So I'm usually very careful with how I create my search links in the news.

So the problem: Example: The full note for the cake slices is "Subeta's 15th Anniversary: Randomly received when cutting a Colorful Mystery Cake" If I make that whole thing a search query I get 0 results. If I search for: Randomly received when cutting a I get 15 results. If I search for: Randomly received when cutting a Colorful Mystery Cake I get 0 results If I search for: Colorful Mystery Cake I get 15 results

The bold phrase is the link. So if I include only the link, I get results. If I include only the non-linked words, I get results. If I include both non-linked words AND linked words, I get no results.

Also, playing with this, I've just discovered that the search field doesn't seem to like apostrophes because when I tried a search for everything including "subeta's" it cut off everything starting at the apostrophe.

So any search with a (b) in it won't match the item note. (I had to use parentheses instead of square brackets to keep Subeta from gobbling it up.)

Right now, you can't search for the entire item notes either, because the slashes in the URL inside the item notes interfere with the search. (This is fixable, but I can't get to it today -- I'm currently away from home and not on my usual machine.)

Yes, I know what's going on. That's why I assumed it couldn't be fixed and just worked around it.

So, when I've tried to do a search that included code, and it gave me an error message - that's what you're talking about with the final paragraph, the thing that is fixable? That would be helpful.
