I borrowed Gran's iron today to try and get the interfacing attached for the jacket collar.... that thing is utterly useless! It doesn't get hot enough, even on the top setting, to activate the glue in the interfacing (whereas Mum's old iron (that I kind of broke 😊 ) actually melted one piece of interfacing before when I had it on the top setting). So either Mum's iron was overheating for ages, or this iron is just a waste of space o.O I think Mum's going iron-hunting tomorrow laughs

erm.... maybe :P I was a bit wary of that iron getting too hot, but I don't think there's any risk of that! :P

just check for ones with good settings. perhaps ask at the sewing stores?

nods this one has three settings, but what they're calling the three spot setting, is more like Mum's old iron's 1 spot setting o.O

ours has like 10 settings. 1-5 are steam settings.

o.O that sounds more complicated than I'd know how to use! We won't be using any steam settings, as we've got really hard water, so it'd just rock up with limescale in the workings (either that or we'd have to get filtered water to use in it, which seems a waste) ;)

hehe well, I use a water spray bottle to make the stuff wet before ironing it.... so they tend to get drowned first 😊 :P
