Yeah, some do work better than others - I made one in school for Mum (a basic one that relied on a battery to make it light up if the soil was wet), but that never worked after the first time we stuck it in the soil 😊

the water wasn't a problem, it was the metal prongs - they fell out of the plastic casing after the first use :P 😊 (that was the only time we'd ever worked with plastic in technology classes, most of the time we used wood :P)
