Wow.. Not something I would have thought, that you haven't eaten lamb.. Here it is common though it has gotten too expensive for a weekly meal.. I only buy it when it is on special, at like 1/2 off.. Frenched lamb cutlets are over $40 a kilo.. I don't buy them.. lol.. The leg I got was $7.99 a kilo.. Ordered online so asked for the minimum weight which was 1.4 kilo.. When it arrived it was 2.6 kilo.. When I double checked the invoice (they charge you for the weight you request, if you get more then it is a bonus, they never supply you under your requested weight).. anyway.. they had made an error on the invoice and only charged for a kilo.. Someone I guess forgot to set up the x kilo calculation part.. Opps..

Chicken is the cheapest meat here, used to be beef when I was growing up, turkey is traditionally Christmas time but you can find it or rather legs or sliced meat at least all year round at the supermarket now.. I actually bought a turducken the other day.. It was close to date, so cheap.. :) ... Have thrown it in the freezer but I'm interested to see what it tastes like..

Hey'all!

Here wild game is a staple for most, I'm an outsider on that one. I just can not convince myself to eat it. I'm one of those who will scream into a bullhorn into the woods during deer season to try and get all the deer to run away. Or "misplace" shotgun shells. I think it's their eyes. And the fact that bow hunting I can accept, its sorta fair but shotgun/rifles? Hell no. What chance do they have against humans? My family has got to the point they don't tell me when they're going to the woods or let me any where near their blaze orange clothing. It has a habit of vanishing if I'm around.

LOL! I usually mix a lb of burger and a lb of ground turkey together for big meals to make things stretch. (1 kilo = about 2 lbs, I looked it up)

If you add a couple tsp. of beef bouillon to the turkey it fits right in. Straight ground turkey has no flavour really but it does have an odd texture so you have to fool the mind.

I just went to forum group members and clicked accept. I have to do it one at a time because it flips back to the previous page each time. Honestly, since it's not invite only I don't understand why we have to accept anyway. Seems like it would be automatic.

- my views on hunting are a little different. I don't do it myself, but I grew up around people who hunted and trapped as a living. They didn't have "day jobs" then went out and killed animals for fun on the weekends. It was how they fed themselves and their families. LOL they didn't make things "fair" for the game, they used whatever means they had available to make sure they were successful.

Welcome back and glad to hear you enjoyed yourself. I'd hoped to get a little a head of you before you started piling them up again, but since I now have 15, I guess you can have my permission to start collecting again :P

Lamb isn't an every day meat around here, Canada, but I think its a lot more common than in the States. We didn't have it as often as chicken, beef and pork, but it was one of our regular meats.

Faeire, lamb is a staple in the greek communities in the US just not something more of us are used to. No reason to feel odd about it! We are just more sheltered. Beef, chicken, turkey, seafood. Yup. I can dig it.

You are a very nice mom to let her stay over. Did that take some getting used to? It did for me with my kids. Which is stupid since I lived with their dad for years before we got married.

Same here, my sister Candy is one of the elders and she shakes her head at me every time but I stick to the side dishes when there's wild game on the table. I just cant eat it. Everyone around here will tell you it's all in my head and most likely it is. When I was younger much younger, lol I went out with my brothers once and I saw the most beautiful pair of fawns.. and it's all I see no matter what kind of game it is. I just cant get past those eyes. ( too)

OhMyGawd y'all! My brother just came in freaking out, one of the trap cams by his friend's deer stand has a pic of a huge mountain lion. I cracked up laughing cuz of what we've been talking about this morning and he looked at me like I'm plum loco xD

How's that for ironic. I had heard that people had been finding big cat tracks around here but I chalked it up to the likes of Bigfoot ya know? The DNR said they didn't relocate any big cats to our area - I guess this one is a magical cat or something.

I'm off y'all! Game's on and with proof there really are big cats up here the conversations in this living room are going to be insane! Hopefully I can sneak in quests in the midst of it all. Wish me luck!
