Pretty much! It just seems bizarre that for being picked as a finalist, I actually had a worse chance of winning prizes. Much as I loved our band (manly arm pump for my Town Folks ladies) we had rather...ahem...niche appeal and realistically we were never even in the running to win the competition, though some of my bandmates worked hard on the forums regardless.
I really wish I could have been a supporter instead of a finalist.

The pandemic thing only gave it to 25 people tho. this is 251. it's a bit better i think? and only 6 were exclusive
(sorry to comment just to point it out but that pandemic plot is such a trigger to me. can't help but whine every time i remember lol)
I wonder if it would have worked better if there was a prize shop instead of just handed out prizes? And the currency was dependent on your game score total, BUT if you were part of the Horns n Roses you got access to their, what, six special items? And if you had the points to buy them you could... I don't know. It just seems very very strange to me that some people who got scores in the thousands got the same (or LESS) than people who got scores in the 50s or just one score.
If the grand prize supporters and band don't support a particular band, they and the band should not receive the items.
The current situation is a perfect example. Horns and Roses and their supporters got EVERYTHING and I MEAN everything. Every known prize available minus the two items that were Horns and Roses exclusives.
I don't find it fair that the Horns and Roses band and their supporters got Granny Smith items when they didn't support the Granny Smiths. I can understand getting the the prizes for the winners of each of the honourable mentions in each genre but getting the Granny Smith items doesn't seem fair. Honourable mentions are honourable mentions. Second Place prizes that are are related directly to the band, though, should stay just with the second place band and their supporters. They shouldn't be given out to the Horns and Roses supporters and band. Doesn't make sense. If they wanted the Granny Smith items, they would've supported them instead of H and R. However, they chose to support Horns and Roses and so is only fair that they don't receive the band-specific second place prizes.
Please, if there is to be another Battle of the Bands next year, please don't give the second place band-specific prizes out to the first place band and their supporters.

I thought this is how they were doing it actually
It would be actually like during epicon you had to buy things with points but if you were winning team you had the vip store
It would've been acceptable but I think it would be a bit difficult for most people to buy things that way because face it us people who made 5000+ in a single gameplay are probably outliers lol so they would need to convert the points somehow
Yeah but 8 might as well have been, the pamphlet isn't exactly flying into circulation, considering it's not like a wearable that can be resold 251 might as well be 25 xD
And it's okay, I don't mind pings! Even though it was only 25, at least you had to be 10)% up to date on the plot and be one of the first 25 people to guess who to kiss correctly-- verses join winning band's team and make 1 point(... if they even had to make 1 point). It would have been better if the prizes had scaled across the board depending on which people put forth the most effort to support their band, or had another point of entry (like the CS). But as it stands now, this was really just, handled poorly from day one and a huge waste of time and effort and I'd not loose a minute of sleep if it never ever happened again, if this is how the event will go down.
It's not better if some of those 251 people just clicked a button. Don't know how many people did that and don't really care, but that was the case. Not fair to those who spent hours playing. Not fair to those who made it into the finals.
I don't agree with this statement at all. I know my band members and I had a great time with this event. I said multiple times that I didn't even care if we won (I mean, it's great that we did, but it became less of a priority) because I simply had a great time talking with our supporters. I think this event promoted (or at least, for me it promoted) a level of interaction I haven't gotten from any other event. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting a ton of new people, and it was the most active I've been on the forums in a very long time. Heck, we even interacted with people from other bands whenever they would stop by our boards, and I really enjoyed that as well! I know a lot of our band members said that they really enjoyed this event because they had a chance to talk with us and interact with the band members! 8)
I don't know how it was for people of other bands/supporters of other bands, but this is how it was from my perspective.
Well, there have been other competitions that have had similar divides (thinking primarily of RS wars). I mean, I suppose they're trying to get away from that, which I approve of, but this doesn't seem to be the way to get away from big differences like that.
Yeah I really think a prize shop, with good price structure, would've taken care of the availability issues. I personally didn't like the luck factor in "choosing the right band", the winners get their own themed items (some more than others, which is fair) and... that, to me, already sounds a big thing. -shrugs-
Also, what said. It just... ended up not being fun for a lot of us, sadly.
[edit] Yet, the event indeed had a lot of potential for fun, like the experience mentioned by , I just think the way things happened (and that one single game) didn't allow everyone the same.
I personally wouldn't have minded if the top scorers had points for 100 of the highest prize, by the way.
But see, I remember the thing that pissed me off the most was that the steps on that plot were not released for everyone at the same time, they were random events. It was luck as well. I was just so asoiufjwegfuqwauiodjaoudhahof, 25 is a harsh number
I totally agree with everything that you said and I also tried to say some of it in the survey too. Pity we were limited on room though lol. Thanks for speaking your mind and saying what, IMHO, a lot of other members would be thinking and feeling about the entire Peekaboo debacle.
Yeah but even if you have fun, not being able to purchase collection based things =/= fun. If you want to delete all of your prizes because you were in it for the fun, then that's amazing! However, 90% of people partake in subeta plots because of PRIZES not because they enjoy monotonous games/battling/restocking and fighting lag/errors/502s.
That's like saying I enjoy going to work for the amazingly epic 45 minute commute twice a day and the great mental cardio of the job-- the paycheck is just a bonus! No one in their right mind says that. And no one in their right mind goes into a subeta plot for the lag/endless repetitive tasks. They do it because there's achievements, battling, and/or prizes.
This didn't support anything but picking the winning band and hopefully prying the prizes out of their/their supporters hands for 500+ csc (probably double/triple that if you're trying for the wearables).
Oh, ouch! This ain't right. These situations are so blatantly uneven that it seems like a genuine oversight - although there was plenty of time to plan the prize distribution. I certainly don't think prizes should be taken away from people who already have them away, but I think the people involved here, especially Walrus, deserve more than they currently have.

It isn't fair to the top point players to get prizes like they did. Crap prizes in reality. It should have been something more exclusive or something that is worth all the time they spent doing so great, yet SOL for them for picking the wrong team? Boo!
Agree a prize shop or something would have been better. So people who supported the winning team didn't get all prizes just cause they simply clicked a button. The ones who put effort got rewarded for it more so.
I don't know just a horrible way they did with the prizes. XD

I'm gonna be hanging out at the food trucks with if this event happens the same way. She said everything I feel about it and so much better than I ever could.
“Justice will not be served until those who are unaffected are as outraged as those who are.” - Benjamin Franklin
"Woe to those who make unjust laws, to those who issue oppressive decrees, to deprive the poor of their rights and withhold justice from the oppressed of my people, making widows their prey and robbing the orphan." - Isaiah 10:1-2
This event was a trainwreck form start to finish and I am at the point to hope that it is never held again.
I decided to support no band, because I had friends in several bands, including HnR. I just didn't like the concept of the event, and felt like choosing a band over another for a game I DID NOT LIKE was not worth it. To this day, all of my friends are still on speaking terms with me, and I got zero rewards, sure, but zero headache and zero upsetti.
But yeah. Don't bring events that are just glorified popularity contests back. OR WEIGH THE SCORES, PLEASE. Even Neopets does that for the Altador Cup.
The prize shop would've been the most fair option. I mean, give only the supporters the access to the winning team's items, but let everyone else purchase whatever they want with their points = yes, that would be fair. So what if a few(and by few, I mean that I doubt even 20 people scored in the thousands) outliers got exponentially more points? They also spent exponentially more time playing the game(and by exponentially, I can safely assume that 99% of all players spent anything from half- to two hours playing the game during the event, whereas the player with the highest score spent nearly six solid hours on their winning score alone, and hours on their other scores. If that's not effort enough to deserve more than just the basic items(plus the GS items so yey, 8? items for putting more effort into the game than anyone else on the entire site), nothing is.)
If this event ever returns, I'll just do the easy thing instead of wasting some seven hours on getting points that ultimately get me nothing but a sticker. I don't even collect stickers. :I
