And that is one of many people's biggest peeves. CWs being held to higher standards than OFFICIAL ART. Especially when it's official art that costs CSC
I would link you to the Site Feedback topic I made about the quality of Cash Shop wearable overlays but Site Feedback threads didn't make it over in the transition from the old forums to the new. It was the one that ended up locked because users were questioning staff jobs.
What I'm curious about is how much CWs have made for the site versus how much has been made for individual users total, which is impossible to know or find out. I really wish CWs would have followed the CS system that staff now realizes would have been best.
Sorry for the off-topic post!

The only thing I don't care for is that particular shade yellow on the jewelry. I love how the kimono looks now.

Things I like:
I actually like the colors of the new hair. I like the subtler sun designs on the kimono. I like the slightly softer colors of the flare effects around the avatar. I get why it was decided to make the solar flare bits look more like actual solar flares, which I like because it's amusing to see items reflect the name/theme, but I'm unsure if I could ever use the items because the increased flare...iness makes for a potentially cluttery avatar.
Things I don't like: The hair sits strangely on the head. I did think the old hair needed a revamp, but this wig makes the skull look pointed (coneheads!), and I'm not a fan of the piece of hair that's glued along the cheek right under the front-parted hair that seems to defy gravity in direct counterpoint to the cheek hair. Also something about the texture of the hair feels heavier to me and I'm not personally a fan of that style. The hair sticks look thicker and less like jewelry now, I prefer the old version.
Never ever will I be a fan of the heavier black lines used for the jewelry. I will never understand why these heavy dark lines are considered suitable for revamps, especially for lines like Rainyday which are intended to look ethereal and delicate. In the old ankle item, you could see the two pendant diamonds as if they were actually dangling from the thin strings - the new pendant diamonds look like they've been glued to the ankle because the lines are so thick it obscures the detail.
Not a fan at all of the bright yellow color of the gems that seems to obscure the cabochon shine of the jewelry. The suns look flat, heavily outlined and artificially glowy, and don't follow the shape of the body well. They look like plastic puffy stickers to me, and the far headpiece sun looks as though it's projecting at a right angle out of the side of the head.
Also, the earrings themselves are heavier, lined in black, far more yellow than any actual gold jewelry has a right to be, and I don't think the yellow works well with the kimono/hair at all. I vastly prefer the old gem-like look to the new look.
The kimono. I could get used to the sleeves, maybe, although I agree that they don't look like actual kimono sleeves. The old sleeves were a little physics-defying, so I can see why the change. But the rest of the kimono doesn't work for me. The old kimono had a drape definition in the top that flattered the bust and reflected the way heavy fabric drapes over curves - the new version has curved lines that don't indicate any bust definition at all and looks almost painted on. The bottom part of the kimono looks like a pair of high waisted short shorts layered over a top. Where the old kimono was short and gathered because it was obvious the avatar was holding the hem up, with the hands covered in the new version there's no reason anymore for the kimono to be this short or this tightly gathered. It also doesn't flow well on the bottom - if it were an actual kimono, why would it be gathered around the legs like shorts?
Edit: The kimono actually looks a lot better on its own. But with the Solar Flare waist jewelry item also worn, the waist flare obscures all the detail and doesn't flatter the kimono at all. I still question the bottom of the kimono where it appears the fabric actually curves upward the way shorts do.
The jewelry works as individual pieces but clash terribly with the complete set. Too yellow.

This is why I stick to CWs for the majority of my HAs.... They are held to higher standards and MOST are amazing pieces of art.... This set as a CW most likely wouldn't have made it through the system, nor would it have sold very many copies... sad to think so many people wasted their sP on these items for them to be ruined.
Staff art just really isn't near as good as it used to be anymore... These latest revamps aren't the greatest quality at all. It's sad to think so many people are THIS disappointed with a revamp. I DREAD the revamps on the rest of the Rainyday sets because if they turn out as drastically different as this one did, I can only see many more people being disappointed....
I REALLY feel bad for the artist who made these since almost every comment about these revamps is so negative, but then again as they are paid for their "professional" site art, they should be prepared for criticism.
No one going to talk about how the head piece now makes it look like you have a third eye? No?
Ok.

I typically like most revamps, or at least with sets like this, I usually like more than I dislike.
So, this set wins the first time of me ever completely disliking the entire set post-revamp. I'd pull the items out of my wardrobe to sell if the wardrobe worked correctly. And I've never disliked a revamp so much before that I was left feeling like, "Ugh, I should just sell these pieces."
Piece by piece:
Honestly at first I did like this revamp (i still love the kimono, but I feel it's a totally different kimono with just the same print and color! Sleeves aren't bunched up, it's shorter, etc.)
Yeah seeing them side by side I realize how different all the items are, and not in a great way.
I disliked the revamped wig from the start, though :/
I'm going to talk with the artist about this :) We'll try and fix it up a bit more! (I believe she's on leave right now though, so it might take a little while!)
I think everyone would appreciate that. Even a slight recolor of the jewelry would make a world of difference.
On a side note, the thing that I cannot un-see is not the third eye thing, but the fact that the kimono makes you look like you have giant fin hands. Though, the mental images of it are quite entertaining.
I just want the old kimono back. The revamp has made it a completely different item, which is fine, except most people bought it for how it originally looked. Fix the kimono to how it was, and release the new style as a restockable item.
Dang. My favorite piece was the lovely red jewel on the necklace. It was one of my favorite jewelry items on Subeta. Now it's a glowy yellow thing. In fact, I miss all of the red-orange jewels this set used to have. The yellow suns are a good idea for Solar Flare but much too different than before.
Not a fan of this revamp, which is pretty much a first for me. Nice to see a quick response from staff about it.
I never really wore much from this set but I did love all the item art. The new art is nice but like most others here, I preferred the delicate nature of the old stuff. I would collect and happily own the new pieces for their item art, but not at the expense at what we had.
The necklace however I hope does get touched up again. It was one of my favorite pieces on the site for necklaces as it added a touch of color and was not overwhelming. I like more understated pieces. Now if I wore it I'd have a giant glowing thing on my throat. Strange!

In my opinion, the only thing that looks less bulky is the kimono. I love the way that one is revamped, except for the fact that you can't see the hands anymore. Everything else, sorry, but no. The Solar Flare Wrap is was one of my favorites, especially because of the big jewel, but now they just all (head, ankles, neck) look like big clunky suns. (Plus an overload of sparkles, whyyyy?)
Thank you, Rah! If the jewels were recolored and the kimono was to return to its original style at least, I think a lot of people might be happy.
I miss the details and colors of the old version. The new jewelry..SO Gaudy!
