The prime reason is the current "leadership" actively making everything worse 🫩😔 Tariffs, pointless fucking wars, and climate change have been the main price-inflators but I'm sure there's more to it than that. I can't keep up with all the bullshit going on here.
The private ghost tour may not happen, but we'll still have a lot of fun anyway ^ ^ As for Thanksgiving food staples, the most common ones are turkey, herbed bread stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, and a variety of vegetables. Usually corn and beans. The togetherness is my favorite part. I might make mulled wine again this year!
Oh my gosh, it blows my mind that you have so many fruit trees just...available all over like that. It's not that we don't have the capability to do that here, it's that "no one wants to be responsible for cleaning up the mess that fruit leaves behind," something about attracting bugs (oh no, the horror 😒), and...yeah, because too many people/places would rather see others starve than get anything for "free." Absolutely, cruelly insane. Not everyone feels that way, but not enough care that change can actually happen. Perhaps there are places around the country that have things like small food forests, but I haven't heard of them. There's foraging that can be done though, for those willing to learn. My friend and I've been learning about local native edible plants over the last two years, it's been very rewarding.
