Don't worry at all about returning the kisses! I mostly work from home so it's easy for me
As it should be. :) What is fun is learning how cats will alert you to certain things such as my one cat, Spot, will play with my closet drawer or get on my dresser when she feels the litter box needs cleaning or occasionally if she feels she needs to be fed.
My other cat, Callie, will wander around and meow for the same reason OR if she wants me to lay on my bed with her and cuddle. At other times either one or both will sit in front of the door to the storage space and meow or paw at the door if they sense a mouse is nearby. To be honest I sometimes think the world would be far more peaceful if cats (or an evolved version) ran the world as I feel things would be far more peaceful. Napping in the sun, little snacks here and there, playing with string (or anything for that matter) makes a lot of sense.
Now there is NEVER a age limit when it come to playing with your pets, especially kitties. Many, many years ago when I lived in this one place we were raking leaves and our outdoor cat, Tiger, loved to dash through the piles of leaves we raked and another cat seemed to like it when we piled the leaves over and around him.
The way cats interact with us is SO different from dogs and is based on something different..which is why I think some people don't like cats because you can't lord over them and dominate them. Cats like being on a level playing field as-it-were and you actually need to learn about each personality. Don't get me wrong..dogs have their personalities too but their behavior is more based on pack mentality whereas cats are more of a one-on-one basis.
