Are you celebrating Diwali tonight? The Holiday Shop has a bunch of beautiful lamps and delicious goodies for you to share with your friends and family!

Aaah, the diyas are lovely! Better than the ones we put outside our door. This is amazing, but my only problem is with the rasmalai. It just looks different in terms of shape, size, and color. But the Motichoor ladoos look good to eat!

I feel everyone's pain, honestly, and if I could fix the site myself I most certainly would.

But I'm just an artist and art director, and don't have any programming experience to speak of. The artists made this batch of items and asked me if we could have them released to celebrate the holiday, and I didn't want them to go to waste. They'll be restocking all month, so if you can't get the tonight, you will have more shots at it when the site is in better condition, promise.

Please keep in mind, though, that directing angry comments at the art department because of the state of the site is fruitless. We certainly are just as frustrated as you are, and just like you, there's nothing we personally can do to fix it.

XD Hey, you know what? How about while the shops ARE still glitched so we can't buy anything that the programmers take a second to change it so the shops only restock rare items. I know that'd be cruel and even more frustrating for most users, but I personally would like some eye candy while they're down. Well, more so I'd just like to see the rare minions shuffling through so I can stare at 'em.

I think it's quite hilarious that this happened. xD I mean - yay to the artists for creating new items. (I LOVE the lamps!) But then again... lol, you can't buy them in the main shops and everyone's pissed off about that and the staff runs wild because everyone's annoyed.
Oh well, let's just wait. o_O' This glitch is on the site every now and then anyway xD Get used to it, people

Wow, am I the only one who found Rainchan's comment very sarcastic and rude? (Or just the only one gutsy enough to admit it?)

Sure a LOT of user comments are too--but when staff starts being rude too it just looks very unprofessional and makes things seem worse.

Anyway glitches happen. I'm not too worried about it. ^^

Ack, I'm going to rephase my last comment.

No vending machines that give items SPECIFICALLY from the Holiday shop. The clothing/plushies can be gotten from oceans depth/prize get because they go by item type and not plushies only in plushie parlour, etc.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by waterfall
User Avatar

I'm not particularly fussed about the glitches. Find something else to do. Forums are working perfectly, trades are still good, tokens work in machines. We've had worse glitches than this, it's probably not as simple as you think to fix the problems. In the beginning there were a completely different set of programmers, so you can't blame it on them. Yeah, I'm getting tired of the glitches, but I'm getting more tired of people complaining... it's not gonna get the site fixed any faster, it's just going to make it a depressing time while we wait X3 I totally understand your point of view though. There's just... no point complaining? Giving the staff a headache isn't gonna fix it any quicker X3

The new items are beautiful, can someone tell me who drew them? ^^ The candles, ahh I have to get them xD It was madness last night, I thought fireworks were hitting my windows xD My dog was sat on the end of my bed on a towel cowering ALL NIGHT xDD I don't even celebrate it, it was pretty though! ^^

Actually, as someone who pretty much lives in the vending machines, there are no vending machines that give items from the holiday shop, and dragons hoard only gives out food that restocks in the food market.. not food in general, so they can't be gotten from vending machines.

Yanno that is fine and dandy we totally get that it is a holiday item and it is a holiday. I am also not stupid. I know artists do not do the coding. That still does not change the fact that we have every right to be upset. I donate 20 to 25 dollars a month to the site at least. I think as a user I have every bit of right to be frustrated. I see beautiful items that are out for a special holiday that no one can buy.

The shops, quests worked just fine before they took the site down to do a code update. Also any smart coder/web designer knows to have a backup so if it doesn't go according to plan they can revert to the backup. Let's not mention having a test site to put the code changes up on to see if they work before implementing them live and finding out OMG the code got screwed up majorly. All this stuff is broke! Panic!

That is what backups and test sites are for. Sooo you loose a few hours. What's worse loosing a week of being able to do anything on the site vs a few hours.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

This is the only time they could of brought them out. Diwali isnt everyday
they look great satff!
good work

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

Seriously folks, this is a diwali item. Not that I have no idea what that is, but still. Of course it's really stupid that we can't buy them, but I think they did this rather than release them later because, as someone pointed out, diwali is on a special day, and of course the items celebrating it should be released that day. I have no doubt they're working on the code problem either, so hopefully it'll be fixed soon.

But I admit it hurts badly to see so many good items in stock unable to buy them. Seriously.

On the other hand, the artists and the programmers doesn't do the same thing, so even if the artists makes new items it doesn't mean no one is working on the problem. :/

why do you release new items when nobody can buy it? wouldn't it have more sense to fix the code-problem first? all this really starts to totally annoy me.
it's always the same. and i always loose days when i activate my GA's just because of the damn quest glitch. luckyly they aren't as expesive as the last month. this would be really dumb.

now finally something positv: I must say: good job the new items look as nice as always

Sorry just really frustrated =( I love the site and it's my place to go to waste time/get away from RL stress. It's frustrating not being able to do just that. =( I think we all need a cookie Debi? Got anything fun for us ala free gift? lol

Oh it's nice that there are new items but NO ONE can restock! I mean seriously.. Can't do quests they have not reset, can't stock.. can't do much untill all this stuff is fixed.

That would be great if we could celebrate holidays and special events from all over the world! Just a token shop item or something (don't want to overload the artists). A wearable red poppy for rememberance day (tomorrow) for instance (lol and I know it's too late now ). I'd never heard of diwali but now I've read up on it thanks to Subeta.

If there is a particular holiday that you'd like to see items for on the site, just mail me at least two weeks prior to the holiday, tell me what it is and a little about it, and suggest a few items that would be appropriate for it. If the artists aren't working on any other major projects then I can pass the information along; even if they are I can generally at least request a Trivia prize or a token Shop item for it.

Oooooo, I LOVE the little candle lamp thingies. Those are really pretty.

I'm as upset as anyone at the site being "glitched" more than it is not "glitched". I'm surprised that people choose to pay money that are supposed to help sites. The only thing I have seen consistantly is that the lag is sometimes better.

I honestly don't feel that I can express that without fear of a warning. A LOT of you have written to me off site and told me that you keep your mouths shut because you don't want to get warnings and such.

I love this site too. I'm just aggravated too and have a right to allow my thoughts on the situation to be seen and heard.

I love the items! I've never heard of this holiday before. ^-^;;; I'll lookie it up later.

I know everybody is fusturated from the glitches but now people are arguing/leaving/being more jerky then usual...

Okay okay, I admit, I was pretty angry with the glitches too, but we got to give the programmers a break! I'm sure they're not just ignoring us and Subeta isn't their life either, they want/need to do other things too!

BUT I still want to thank them for trying to update the server! True, there's a lot of glitches and lag, but I still like this site very much and so I thank the staff/programmers/keith for trying to make this site better/awesome.

I'm NOT asking you guys that are upset to shut up! That's mean and the last thing I want to do!

I just hope all of you guys will feel better and be happy (and the arguing will stop) once the hard working programmers fix the server!

The way that I also read that post, yes, Flit was being sarcastic. Even if the shop codes were working it still takes a bit of time for new items to actually stock in the shops. But, as Rustyblu said, they would still be available from quests and Vending Machines, and probably the trash can, too.

How DARE anyone ever criticize ANYTHING, because that's OMG MEEN!!

People don't complain just because they're jerks, they complain because they care about the site and really want it to be the best that it can be. Honestly, I love Subeta, but it's been so glitchy and frustrating lately that I just don't have the motivation to do ANYTHING here until it all gets resolved. I just want to be able to enjoy the site, without having to worry about glitches and possibly losing items/sp due to something out of my control.

And yes, I know the programmers are working to resolve all this, but there's nothing wrong with a little semi-anonymous public venting now, is there?

Eh, just my $0.02, take it or leave it...

As for the items, quite lovely indeed! Honestly, I'm not angry at all about them being released while the shops are still broken - they were probably drawn/prepared well in advance after all, and being seasonal items they had to be released when they were, anyway

When the artists started drawing these beautiful new items for this specific holiday, they had absolutely no way of knowing in advance that the shop codes would be broken now. It's not like they draw the items for a holiday on that specific day; they're generally drawn well in advance in preparation for special events and holidays. It would have been disrespecting them and their efforts, as well as not acknowledging the day, to have simply not released them at all. It was in no way ever intended in a taunting fashion, but rather to acknowledge a day of great importance to some of our users.

The items ARE pretty and the artists as usual, have done a wonderful job. They've come up with special things for special occasions. The shops being broken doesn't take anything away from this fact.
Lol next time I would suggest a note in the news post saying that even though people can't buy the items just yet, you've released them today since today is Diwali. Then at least people will (hopefully) understand that you are NOT taunting them with things they can't have.

re the site being "free" - it's my understanding that although paying isn't compulsory Keith does actually rely on cash payments to keep the site going since it has no sponsors. Therefore the old "don't complain since it's free" argument doesn't appear to apply in this case. If none of us paid, Subeta would not exist and when people have paid real money they will always expect a certain standard of product. This is natural and very reasonable.
I am quite prepared to be patient and allow the programmers time to do whatever it is they need to get the site running the way it should. The only thing I ask is to be kept informed. News posts letting me know what is being fixed and how it's going, unexpected problems, estimated time frames etc. I understand you need time, and patience etc on OUR part. It is the lack of contact with those whos job it is to fix the site which honestly I find the most frustrating.

This is probably my favourite gaming site. That's why it saddens me so. Otherwise, what reason whould I have to complain?
