Well, I guess I can pretty much assume there's a lot of fat-phobia here on Subeta. How unfortunate. I love the Torrent's roundness - it looks cuddly - if you were good enough friends for it to LET you hug it! Love the jewel-bindi very, very much and the marks under the eye are gorgeous. I hope the redraw goes through.

it looks very crammed. why does it have to be shaped like that??? it kind of looks like a doughnut. perhaps if you straightened it a bit....or made the tail curl the other way. the artistry is very nice. oh...and it appears to have only one 'thingy' sticking out of its head....lol. usually I am like duh...THAT animal doesnt have one eye, it is a profile...but this is not the case here.

its good art but i think the new one is over drawn.. it has a dolphin nose and a jewel which came out of nowhere and a little too much shine making it look slimy.. im sorry but im sure it can just be slightly changed not as a drastic as a change from the old one..

yeah. now that I think about it. THe torrent seems to have too big a body for too small a fins. It think it's chubby too, but chubby in a good way. Sorta like when kois are slightlyon the fat side..but they don't actually have fat, only muscle.
Yet I have ot agree-the torrent looks like it's been crammed intot he canvas. Sort of like a big fish for too small a fish tank. I personally don't like the gem, but then again I don't like fishes eigher. (as pets)..so that is mostly my preference.
The coloring, shading and detailof the scales is amazing though. Plus I love the eyes.

I voted for the new torrent mostly because from the looks of it, I believe it's better drawn than the old one.

The old one was cute, no doubt about that and there are some things about the new one I don't particularly like, but I still think the old torrent needed an update.

It's drawn well and it looks spectacular; the only problem I have with it is that it does kind of look crammed into the space that it is in and I have to agree that it looks a bit chubby.

I like the texture of the new one, itâ€™s very nice and it looks shiny, as though it belongs in water. But, I think the whole attitude and look of the Torrent has changed with this new one- Itâ€™s a lot bigger and more dominant looking, it looks closer to a whale then a fish in my opinion, the decorations on itâ€™s eyes make it seem more majestic then Iâ€™d associate the torrent to be and it seems to be crammed into the space as though itâ€™s too big for the actual picture. Itâ€™s almost bloated in look. The gem is also off-putting, it doesnâ€™t need it- a blank space where it is would have looked fine but now it looks slightlyâ€¦ Cluttered.

The old Torrent looked playful and humble, simple with its own little thing going on. This looks like something that would prey on the old oneâ€¦

I voted for the new one simply because I thought it looked better art-wise. But I prefer the old Torrent for the overall look. :/

It was a tough choice.

LOL, y'all are cute. It looks nice and helps the torrent fit in with the other subeta pets, esp. some of the newer/revamped ones. I agree that it was cartoonish before - a lot like the style you would see on other pet sites. This revamp sets it apart as do all the revamps and newer "models" of pets. Eventually, without the revamp the torrent wouldn't have held a candle to the other pets. And it isn't too fat, bloated, ginormous (that one made me chuckle) - it's about right since it is a sort o' fantasy fish - I mean, would you honestly be able to take a fish seriously if it DIDN'T look this good?

I voted for the old one, don't get me wrong, the new one is amazing, but I always thought of the Torrent being a laid back and simpled creature. The new one is bigger, and it's quite complicated, whiled the old Torrent well...... isn't. I love the marking on the new one, but The old one has won my heart. Good art though.

I voted for the old for quite a few reasons. It's just cuter, plus it has the cute smile that this one doesn't have.

The art on the new one is like woahomgO_O though. I love the little marks under it's eyes <3

I myself don't particularly like this revamp. I voted Old of a few things. It seems to have way too much detail, and seems too busy... it also seems a bit too chubby for me. No offense to whoever drew the revamp, but the gem on its' forehead looks a little tacky, and isn't needed, I think... neither are the swirls under the eyes. Without them it would look tons better, I believe. Also, make the small side-fins a bit larger; they appear too small perspective wise.

Hope I don't offend. :/

THAT would make me want an Torrent.. which is a very bad thing because I have enough trouble deciding what to get when I finally get a GA.
I always thought Torrents were a bit boring, the Subeta equivalent of having a goldfish instead of a dog or a cat. If it looked like this, I'd be forced to change my mind. The shading is beautiful.

The remake is beautifully done. I love the scale detail and the slight "Mona Lisa" smile.

There were a few things that I would fiddle with though.

-The feeler looks off center to me.
-The lil jewel doesn't look right. At first I thought it was it's 2nd eye. Then I found it's second eye.
- A bit more contrast between the jewel, it's eyes, and body color. Nothing drastic - just so they don't all seem to blend together.
-Bring the tail down a bit so the pose doesn't make it look like a ball - which, I thought it was at first glance. The pose also makes it look a bit scrunched up, like someone stuffed it into a pet store fish bag that was a size too small.

THe new fish thing is okay but the old rocks! The new one has way to much details and is like.... exploding with all this BLA! Not to be rude or anything, it is very good art but just not fitting the fish!

I LOVE the new torrent, makes me think leviathan, and if you've ever seen something like a bass or a trout its not fat at all, and its not huge either, its just taking up more of the 200x200 pixel area than before

Wow! I love the new design! Though the original design is very playful and cute, the new one appears to have an air of magic around it! I like how the fins are ruffled and the presence of scales are shown. Also, the shinyness of the newer makes the Torrrent appear slick and wet - like how a fish should be! Some people are saying that it's too large, well...couldn't the artist just resize it? XD

While this peice of art is beautiful, I definately prefer the old one.

The old on seemed...a little more playful and free-spirited, ya know? This one seems, a little more mystical. But I like it's shininess! =3

Amazingly beautiful. I can tell there was alot of time put into this. I have nothing against the art, my only concern is the size of the pet, it seems rather large.

While the new one is rather pretty - more details/shading and such, I definitely like the old one.

I'm trying to figure out what doesn't appeal to me, but one reason is that it is too round. I think I would like it better if it's position were a little different. Again, that's just my personal opinion.

Again, the coloring is lovely, but even though I was considering the idea of getting a Torrent, I probably wouldn't get it with the new look.

I think it's beautiful. I agree with Micro that it is just a little too big. The colouring and shading are simply gorgeous! I really love the torrents face (head, gem, and especially those eyes!). Great job!

Hm.. I have to agree with pretty much everyone that the coloring is beautiful (I especially love those scales), but it's a little to big.
I kinda like how it appears more eel-like than like a fish, but I think it's a little too much to focus on when you try looking it's face. Perhaps if the eyes weren't staring right at the user... they're a little creepy. ^^;;

Actually, Noir. Lots of koi are one solid color. Koi are an incredibly varied species of fish. Every color can be found in solid as well as speckled versions, along with calico forms and everything in between. I'm a huge koi fan, and I've seen many koi ponds, and many individual koi, throughout my lifetime.

Hmm- I really like it! the eyes are beautiful and shading, lighting, limeart etc is amazing. Really nice. My only crit is it's just a little too big for the area its squeezed into. I really like it though- /way/ better than the old one

tategami, when I think koi, I think fish with patterns on it's body. Most Kois aren't one solid color... they have variation. Hense why I thought salmon. Because they're one color, very monotone, unless it's mating season. If the Torret had something... more to it I wouldn't think Salmon but I don't.

The new Torrent is BEAUTIFUL in terms of artwork. I love the shine, the gem, the eyes and markings, the scales, the flowy fins... all the details are amazing. But... it just looks like a too-big fish crammed into a too-small space. ;_; I have no issue with pets being "big", and it's good to fill as much of the canvas as possible, but... this Torrent looks just plain cramped. Like it had to bend itself into awkward angles to fit into the picture, like its fins have been cut short (read: drawn too small) so they wouldn't break out of the canvas... and it just doesn't look natural. Look at it this way - try to imagine this Torrent "un-curled," stretched out to its full length, with its fins and body size/length and other proportions kept the same. Does it still look right? To me, it just... doesn't. (perhaps that's where the eel parallel came from?)

Like I said, I LOVE the artwork, and the details are amazing... and I agree that the Torrent needs a revamp to bring its art up-to-date. I just... don't think THIS is the revamp it needs. : I'm sorry. I have to go with old on this one.

I voted no, but after looking for a bit, I think it's only a few points that throw me off...

1. I think I would like it better if you could see more of the tail, it would help, as at first glance it looked like a round blob to me (I do have horrible eyesight xD)
2. The head 'dangle thingy' and gem seem off center o.0 -- my eye wants to follow the line of the top fin down through the center of the nose, but it staggers there for some reason...
and
3. The eye color - without an outline it's a tad bit too close to the body shade to me, the eyes just don't seem to stand out very well... :-/

I DO think that the Torrent was in need of a major makeover, and this might be the right direction, but.. like I said I voted old because at first glance it just didn't look right to me.. :-/

(The coloring and highlights are amazing tho! XD I am not trying to bag on anything, just point out what turned me off about it... )

I really like the art on this new picture, and it is definitely an improvement over the last one, but I do have a couple things to mention.

I realize that this has been mentioned already, but I agree that the new image just seems a little big. My first impression when seeing it was, "Whoa! It looks like it's going to explode out of the boundaries of the picture". I think that it might not really be the size of the picture, but how cramped it looks. It's all crunched up in a little ball, which makes it appear that there isn't enough room. I hope that made sense.

I agree with Oranzoval, that the antennae looks somewhat cramped. It looks like the artist sort of ran out of room for it, and just threw it in over top. I think it would be more natural for it to be sticking out farther.

Another thing I noticed about the antennae; it doesn't quite seem to fit with the rest of the image. It looks somewhat flat and two dimensional, although I suppose it's hard to make something that skinny look properly 3D. It also appears to nailed onto the head or something, it doesn't really look like it's part of the rest of the drawing. It just sort of pops up in the middle of the head.

I like the new one. And the fins are fine I mean look at eals there huge with no fin and they do perfectly fine. Same with some filter fish. Its all in how they swim.

I definitly think the new one looks better but I still voted for the old souly because that is a really big transformation. I was wondering you only have one type of fish species, not that fish are terribly popular, but why can't there be two different types of fish, there are several birds. There is a big enough difference between the two just make a few changes and have two species. I mean I would hate if one of my pets changed so dramatically.

i wasn't expecting it to appear this big... though i do love it much better than the old one. The only thing I'm torn on are the fins.... they seem small to me for the massive size the torrent appears as, but then again they are folded up.

anyways i still voted new. :3

Oh, I know about varying viewpoints. It just struck me as particularly odd that one says too cute, and the other says the cute is dying. xD
