A Bad Omen: Elwood\'s Here!

Heeeeeyyyy, the party has arrived! So what’s the deal, what adventure are we doing? To be totally honest, I’m kind of sick of being trotted out once a year for a bunch of 4th-wall-breaking references and pecker jokes. I can tell jokes any time of year! FREE ELWOOD, FREE ELWOOD, FREE ELWOOD!

So I’m basically just going to join Blake’s team so we can hang out- Hey, wait a minute, all of those other NPCs have been getting free stuff? Forget hanging out with my friend, I want free stuff! Oh, you're all out of free stuff? You're looking really tired around the eyes too. Hmm, maybe I can help YOU out instead. You just have to promise to really celebrate the next Elwood day, ok? I'll need tonight to get ready, so rest up at base camp and try not to throw too many banana skins at Saggi's head.

Note: Don't worry, Elwood isn't giving any team extra plot points!

I love how... on that first day, as we ended up ahead by the power of RNG, it was okay to complain about obstacles. But now, the shoe is on the other foot, and complaining has been banned and shall be met with hatred and pitchforks. And we're clearly even and have always been on even playing fields, and everything is balanced and saying otherwise is BAAAAD JUJU. How dare people have opinions, how dare anyone ask for improvement, HOW DARE YOU NOT BE HAPPY WITH EXACTLY HOW THINGS ARE 24 HOURS, 7 DAYS A WEEK, 365 BABY WHY?!

Just FYI, the boosts in no way equal out. Steele got cleared weather, Saggi got extra obstacles, as well as a food supply that cannot be filled. It's sort of hard to not be disgruntled when your first three obstacles were wind. Literally could not move forward.

This last leg was atrocious, and I really hope staff does a little tweaking, because holy hell.

Wow. Just wow. Does anybody actually READ the entire post before coming to the comments to bitch and whine? Elwood is not joining either team. He will be helping BOTH teams (in some manner yet to be determined). Team Saggi got the awesome 10% speed boost while Team Steele got the sweet nice weather boost. I'd say those about equal each other out. Both teams are getting hit with random obstacles pretty regularly as well from what I have seen posted by members of both teams. Can we please have one event...just one...where there aren't cries of "favoritism" or "staff manipulating things" or even downright "cheating". How about we all just take a deep breath and remember that it is a GAME and the event is a friendly competition (emphasis on friendly). Yes, there will be a winning team and a losing team, but if past events have proven anything, it is that everyone who participates will walk away with some pretty cool stuff...so we all win to some degree.

thanks for this event staff :) I am loving reading the dialogues and having the NPC interactions. The loot from the tomb today wasn't too shabby either :)

Blake's team had something similar the other day, with near-constant bad weather; it was insanity. I think that's why we were pulling so hard for Esther. I'm sorry about your crappy trail day, though. D: I hope the weather lays off for you guys and Sephora helps you out with some shortcuts!!

Oh yeah, I'm not criticizing how well your team has banded together - you're able to hit that percentage of votes for the speed boost WAY more quickly/often than our team does, and that speaks, again, to the number of members on your team who're actively playing. I'm jealous, haha! But while you were getting speed boosts, our team literally had 6 (at least?) weather incidents that blew us backwards along the trail. Plus monsoons. Plus our "speed advantage" came with a higher obstacle ratio, so it felt like every single time I checked the site yesterday, either we were in the middle of a storm (and there was nothing to be done about it), or we were stuck in an obstacle, or our food was halfway depleted, and never seemed to budge even when we were playing the food game. Staff claims it was just a run of bad luck, but it was...a LOT of bad luck.

Never change, Elwood. Pretty much everything he says makes me laugh, but oh my god. "It's pretty amazing how every base camp you guys make looks exactly the same. You must really have an eye for picking out similar locations." I'm so glad he's here :D (Though I wish his surprise was PET SLOTS good. or just. pet slots. does Elwood have the power to give us pet slots, what can I do to make this happen)

I'm kind of relieved there's no big NPC contest this time haha, it's a nice break. I do hope that if we go on the trail again, Team Gold doesn't have such bad luck this time. I wish this event didn't seem to so often be frustrating for half the participants ;;

Also, loved the NPC interaction here! :) I think I've forgotten to say but I've been really enjoying the characters.

is there a chance it might be before 6 p.m. - I am really so tired of staying up until midnight (my time) during the last days and then have to get back up to work 4 hours later... I am still annoyed that I missed the reset of quests - but I am really to tired to get in another two midnights and then getting back up at 4...

Oh god no, anchovies, I hated when I had to deliver a pizza with anchovies because the care smelled like it for 24 hours. and... I don't even know what linguica is... come here Google... "Linguiça is a form of smoke cured pork sausage" OK that sounds good. MEAT.

When they aren't complaining I order too many toppings ... I would get EVERY meat (anchovies doesn't count, eww), plus mushrooms and black olives. Extra sauce. Triple sauce. BBQ sauce even oh now I am hungry.

At Marcos they usually have a good 2 topping deal so I usually get pepperoni and meatballs. I wish every pizza place had meatballs as a topping. u

I had to put something in about pineapples because my hubby LOVES pineapple on pizza and I pulled a face so we were meme-ing just a couple days ago on the subject. Glad you like the cartoon. It made me laugh. Hubby stuck his tongue out at me.

Let me put it a different way...even if Elwood is helping both teams, that's only keeping the balance the way it was for the last day, and we saw how that turned out. I'm glad we don't have yet another restocking exhaustion-fest to try to win over an NPC, but because this one automatically went to "both," it means Team Blake is still carrying the massive advantage they had yesterday. They earned it! They obviously (based on the quest results) have a MUCH higher percentage of active users on their team, so kudos to them. (And a giant glare to all the people who joined Team Saggy and promptly left the site to never contribute again, apparently. Quests are not a high-effort activity, AND they give you sp/items. I would've expected more people to jump on it.) But automatically giving this NPC to both teams means that Team Saggy doesn't have a chance to even try to tip the scales back. So unless staff fixes the "random" ratio where we were CONSTANTLY hit by bad weather that we couldn't even do anything to fight through - we're going to have the same frustrating experience as with the previous plot day. I'm glad to have a bit of a break in this plot's relentless pace. But I'm disappointed that the scales are staying tipped exactly where they were yesterday. At least he didn't go ENTIRELY to Blake, but having this "oh sure both of you" is still disappointing for me.

Yeah, it's been quite the roller coaster for both sides having crappy, hard-to-even-want-to-keep-playing moments, and "YES! Finally we might have a shot!" moments. Plus DEAR LORD THE 502/4s!!!! So I get the momentary irritation posting. But the few people who get really stuck and upset puzzle me, because it's a game. A competitive game where you'll win some and lose some and aren't meant to have a completely easy time. So, I just think, Wooosaaahhh everybody. <3 You will survive this plot, it will be okay. Have fun!! And if it's not fun, walk away and take a minute to reset your mentality, get some perspective, and try again if you want.

- People are just upset by the incredible bad luck we have for the most recent trail. Personally I'm not feeling too hot about it either since very time I'm able to check back we are in very dire situation... through out the entire trail. I do know overall, score-wise, Gold and Steele are both even. NPC-wise, not so much though... turning bad weather to sun is a huge boost. Team Gold would have sped through the trail today if we had that boost (personal counted at least 6 Winds, I know there were more while I was not on) XD

All in all, discount the stress from that last Trail, it has been interesting plot so far, that much I won't deny
