So yep!! I've been gone for the better part of a year or more. I don't remember the last time that I was active well, but I probably wasn't active for much of 2020 at all. I think in that time that a lot of my friends have migrated elsewhere or are just too busy these days, but it makes Subeta a little bit lonely as I try to get back into it ;o; So I'd love to make new friends! I am at least mildly socially awkward bc anxiety but I'll do my best to always respond if anyone wants to chat about something! Everyone is welcome...
♥ ♥
Soooo how is everyone? ;w;
Personally I just started drawing again for the first time in literally over a decade and I feel awfuuuuul at it so I'm just copying a bunch of Youtube tutorials and shaking my fist at all of my drawings when they don't come out looking good. xD
Here I go again...
Mine been here like clockwork, during this mess. For now just sitting out summer before the next semester in August. So along with Subeta, I'm indulging in both outdoor activities like splitting logs for firewood, and a selection of indoor pastimes like my Switch games, picture puzzles some tinkering with Legos, and yes try to pick up some drawing. If I can also resolve an issue with Steam, I want to retry Rocksmith. My basses call out to me...
My goal in drawing is to rough out a alicorn to reflect an OC who chose that form to stay on Equestria. I may also try my hand at using a dip pen I bought out of curiosity.
I find this a habit to answer these kinds of posts, usually it ends with a quiet retreat. Some damn human part of me believes this will be no different.
Socially awkward is an old obsolete model like me.
Splitting logs seems really hard!! I've never done that before. What sort of Switch games do you like to play? I've mostly been doing Animal Crossing New Horizons, some Minecraft, and I just got Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town. I've never heard of Rocksmith before, is it fun? I play some games on Steam but mostly Ark and Fall Guys!
That's so exciting about the drawing though! What's an alicorn if you don't mind me asking? :3 I want to just learn to draw faces first. I followed some Youtube tutorials for things like dragons, animals are much easier for me to draw than people, but people are what I want to get good at drawing... I hope the dip pen will go well! I recently got Sakura Micron pens for lining but I haven't used them yet 'cos I'm scared to ruin the things I do manage to draw xD
Oh I think I can kind of relate to what you're saying, it gets kind of sad if the topic dies as soon as you respond to it ;o; But I meant what I said in my opening post and I'll be around to chat with whoever!! ^_^ I'm shy but very very chatty as long as I have someone who doesn't mind me talking to them!
Ooh that's awesome that you've picked up drawing again! I know it's easier said than done but try not to be too hard on yourself! Draw for the fun of it and just see what comes out. :D I say this because I am also really hard on myself when I draw anything lol YouTube tutorials are great and tbh I've had good luck with pins and boards on Pinterest for art refs :)
Stay cool while splitting logs! I used to do that sometimes in the summer when I was a kid, though I used an actual log splitter machine (I probably shouldn't have been given access to that unattended as a child lmao) but even then it can be pretty hot lugging the logs around.
I hope Steam starts working for you! Rocksmith looks like fun. What Switch games do you play? And trhgefjidk Legos!! I spent soooo many hours playing with Legos as a kid. I wish I could play with them now but my cat would totally eat them lol
Hi how doing? ;w;
Thank you for the encouragement, it means a lot to me! It also makes me feel better to know I'm not alone in being hard on myself (tho I am super sorry you do know that struggle too). I struggle so much with doing it for fun and not caring how it comes out. It seemed so much easier when I was younger to just draw all the time, but now I have trouble knowing what to draw and I get so caught up on how wrong it looks that the process is frustrating ;-; But it's not like I'll ever get better if I don't actually do it so I can't let myself get too held up... I'll definitely look into Pinterest! I like it for ACNH inspo xD I should def use it for art refs!
Also a log splitter machine sounds absolutely terrifying. Seconding that it probably is not kid friendly xD The other day I cut the roof of my mouth on ice cream, I can't imagine being allowed around actual machinery xD
Log splitting is hard labor, especially if done by hand. I can't afford a machine so I use hammers, wedges and axes. I do use a reciprocating saw and miter saw to whittle down the pieces.
An alicorn is a different breed of pony from MLP: FIM, a generic form would be winged unicorn. Mine is different in that she is metamorphosizing from an outside species to this chosen form. Her ambition is to be like Daybreaker. But representing the star of her homeworld a white supergiant on par with Rigel. I find drawing creatures far easier than human form. It's been my experience to stay away from reality.
My pen is to try to cook up a good signature for any work I may wrong out. It'll be a journey to find a way to stylize my mirrored writing using this type of pen. When I sign my name, my "G" looks like an "H".
Rocksmith is a teaching game, meant to encourage prospective guitar and bass players. A far better experience than say, Guitar Hero which only simulates playing. You use an actual guitar plugged in to the system used. I'm not surprised to see some people would rather be good on the latter than invest time on the former.
My Lego collection has been... fluctuating recently. I used to have many Star Wars sets, and Bionicle/Hero Factory. But in my changing mentality I've dismantled almost everything. What I have kept are a few treasured favorites and some heavily altered models. As well as a few custom builds. My loose parts remain in my possession, at some point I want to make at least one large build before hanging the towel and donating the remainder. If I may say so, there is one last large set to close my journey. I bought a Technic Fast and Furious Dodge Charger, as reward for regaining my driver's license after many years of fighting to overturn a medical revocation.
Making firewood has been a major therapy for me the last few years, swinging an axe and hammer helps to sweat out my anger and frustrations.
I have about fifteen games on Switch, Pokemon Sword, Let's go Eevee, Mystery Dungeon, and Snap, also some traditional canon games, Mario, Kirby, Tetris, plus some old gems that I play just because they're odd.
Good night now, I've taken my meds...and the movie I'm watching looks like it's playing faster.
Well I can see how splitting logs would be good for getting out frustrations especially if it's such hard labor. I still think the machines sound terrifying but so do the saws xD I don't have much to do with tools beyond helping my dad if he ever needs anything when he does yard work, but he usually doesn't let me (which is fair because I am accident prone as heck).
Oh!! I started MLP:FIM a while ago. I didn't get very far yet, I think I'm in season two now. It's a really sweet show. Fluttershy is my favorite, she's sooo cute. That sounds like a really wonderful character idea though, I bet she'll be really pretty! Agreed about staying away from reality, realism is too hard for me to draw xD My art will probably never grow beyond cutesy chibi-style things.
I haven't played any Pokemon games on my Switch yet. I considered getting Sword and I definitely wanted Eevee but I haven't yet because I didn't finish the last few Pokemon games that came out on 3DS. My favorite was Heart Gold and I found that none of the other games compared for me so I let them go to waste ;o; But I still might get it sometime. I'm really excited about Arceus though! I definitely want that one. And probably one of the Diamond/Pearl remakes. I never played the originals.
I hope you sleep well and have sweet dreams! Nightie night!
Yeah it's really hard to get into the mindset of "just enjoy doing it" ;; I hope you can, though! Haha, I use Pinterest for ACNH inspo as well and saving my favourite patterns. XD I used it when I played ACNL as well.
asdfjlk how did you cut your mouth on ice cream??
Arceus looks AMAZING and I'm so excited for the D/P remakes! After Silver/SoulSilver Pearl was my favourite Pokemon game so I'm gonna have to get that. :o
That sounds really cool! I'd like to learn guitar someday so I may take a look at Rocksmith later. XD
Ooh those sets sound amazing! I haven't had any Lego sets since the early 2000s so probably my last one was a Harry Potter one or something lol Though I mostly just liked having lots of pieces to make my own custom sets and roleplay lol I used to be able to get completely lost in my own little Lego worlds for hours every day as a kid.
I'm glad chopping firewood helps you vent! It can be really satisfying. :) When I used the log splitter it was to help out a neighbour who sells firewood out of his garage so he'd get huge piles of big logs and he'd pay my brother and I next to nothing to spend a day splitting it for him on a machine he'd rented from Home Hardware lmao
Those are all great games!! What did you think of the new Pokemon Snap? :o I think it's a great sequel personally cause it's so much like the original just with better graphics, more Pokemon and a few new features but not an overwhelming amount. I need to finish taking pics of all the legendaries lol I've been back into playing Subnautica on my crappy laptop.
Thank you!! ;o; I am gonna do my best to take your advice 'cos I think it's really good and that it'll help me a lot in the long run.
That's exactly what I used to use Pinterest for!! All dem codes. I had so many. But I almost never go onto Pinterest so I forgot all about them OTL But what I do now is that I have a private server, just for me, on Discord, and I keep a lot of my stuff there. Like I have a channel just for ACNH inspo pics, a channel for codes, a channel for how to videos, and a channel for general info (like flower breeding stuff).
I miss ACNL all the time! I still have my old game. I didn't like how random the villagers were xD Merengue was like my white whale, I wanted her so bad but could never, ever get her. but there's something super nostalgic about it even though now we have ACNH. I still want to replay ACNL sometime. I miss the island and all those minigames! I really wish they'd bring that to ACNH. It'd really spice it up in a good way. I don't play a lot these days even though I've recently started a new island ;-; I haven't yet even gotten my third, fourth, and fifth villagers.
It was my first experience with Dippin Dots XD And they were delicious, I got cookies and cream, but I wasn't expecting them to be as hard as they were and I tend to do this thing where I smash things with my tongue against the rough of my mouth if they're something like melts, I do it with Kisses and stuff like that, and I guess doing that over and over with Dippin Dots just did a number on it. OTL 10/10 would eat again tho.
Heart Gold/Soul Silver were THE BESTTTTTTT!!! The little Pokemon following around behind the character!! The olympics-style mini games!! TWO lands to explore!! So cute u__u Arceus and D/P remakes are definitely the first ones since I got a Switch that I'm like I DEEEEFINITELY wanna get those. Arceus looks so special! I haven't decided between Diamond or Pearl yet though, I'm not sure which one to get. I wanna look up version exclusives. I feel like I should've gotten Soul Silver instead of Heart Gold back in the day because Teddiursa was exclusive to SS and I never got him and he's one of my favorites xD
I slept well, but I don't dream...
The years of daily labor has kept my weight low, and gradually strengthened me. Enough that I can sometimes loosen oil filters without using any tools.
When it comes to specific species, I've made my goal to capture a Dratini to train to Dragonite. I did however capture a Dragonite in Let's go Eevee, I believe the same can be done in Sword.
So far my experience is in early stages. I have yet to level up to travel. But I keep busy otherwise to be able to dedicate much time to any game in my collection.
Speaking of ice cream, since last year I've been making my own. For the most I use ready mix to whip up traditional flavors. But I also make one particular kind. I cultivate prickly pear cactus, and during summer I harvest the fruit to make sorbet. This is amazing stuff, ever person who has tried it thinks its amazing. I present this with vanilla to compliment the pronounced flavor.
I'm glad to know you slept well at least! And hey, it's great that you get some workouts in. I am way too lazy about that these days, but I'm trying to get better about it. You must be pretty strong to be able to take off those filters!
Dratini was one of my first favorites, they're so cute. I think I used to have a Shoyru on Neopets that I named after Dratini x3 I also like Clefairy and Jigglypuff and Leafeon a lot. Typhlosion is really special to me too.
Homemade ice cream is the best! I'm not good at making it but I'm REALLY good at eating it. Vanilla especially. The sorbet sounds really yummy too.
How are you doing today? ^_^
Shoyrus...I have a Talking Purple Shoyru who is seventeen years old. His petpet, a Babaa is also that age, and both still work. Their names are Ahmos Makita Tangent, and Kiev. I had a Red Schorchio, but gave him to a friend.
I've always despised weekends, most of my life I've not had a job so it's just another two days for me. At this time I'm keeping indoors due to the heat. A local Spanish TV channel is showing some Nature's wrath movies, but I'll only watch the first. Later this afternoon I can resume my outdoor chores, watering my cactus and cutting more firewood.
Though gaming is reserved for the evening, I'm in no rush to finish any of the story modes. Let's go Eevee is kinda stuck, I'm not certain what I'm supposed to do after defeating the gyms and capturing Mewtwo...
The Shoyrus were so cute. I think they were definitely my favorite! I have a soft spot for Kougras too though, they were probably my first pet and so I have a lot of nostalgia for the old design of them. Your Shoyru sounds so cute with his little petpet. :3 Gosh do you remember petpetpets?? They were such a big deal but so difficult to actually get to attach. xD
Is the heat very bad there? I live in the south so these days it's so humid and we've been nearing the 100s this last week too. It's a little dangerous, my dad works outside a lot so he sometimes has heat exhaustion :C I hope your chores went well though!
Is there a playthrough or anything to watch to get clues for what to do in Let's Go Eevee? o:
I may as well look it up, after several months of wandering I could use some guidance.
In the desert southwest we are in upper 90's but haven't seen 100's yet. Though I do work outside, I keep indoors from 10:00 to 16:00.
I vaguely remember petpetpets, but never played long enough to have the option.
I bet looking it up would be really helpful! There's probably playthroughs on Youtube. I've had to look there for help 'cos I got lost once, I think during Y on the 3DS? Don't remember well though. Or White 2.
Oh does it always get very very hot there? It's usually super humid and hot here. We usually don't get too much of a winter which is quite sad 'cos I think the snow is so so pretty. I can see why you'd keep indoors during those hours! Be safe!!
Petpetpets were so random. Like very expensive to buy but when you got them you'd have to keep them in your inventory, hope no Random Event or lab ray turned them into dust, and wait for them to randomly attach to your pet. I never had much to do with them either. I used to play Neopets a lot but it got really bad the second time it got bought and everything that was fun about it for me got lost in the transition afterward so that's when I quit and ended up finding Subeta!
Looking up any guide will have to wait until my data allowance refills.
Around here the weather is just hot and cold. The summer can jump to 100's until the autumn when they dip to near freezing. It's like spring only lasts a few weeks before the heat comes. It doesn't help that we're under a drought.
My playing on Neo was mostly pedestrian, just a few things here and there. I agree about their downfall, it's a long journey of bad road since the mid 2000's. My last attempt ended with an abrupt lockout. No warning, just overnight...
Oh, that's how it is here - with spring, I mean. Like it's here for a couple of weeks and then gone again. I was happy for a comfortable day to celeberate my birthday recently, but that'll probably be the last of those that we get. OTL Now it's just hot. Autumn isn't very cold here, though. We don't really get very cold temperatures until February. Sometimes December and January will be a little mild but it's very common for them to be no lower than the 70s. In fact I kind of struggle with feeling like it's Christmas and being in the Christmas spirit in December because it's just so dang warm here :/ Oh no though, I really hope the drought ends soon! That sounds scary...
I think that happened to A LOT of people on Neo unfortunately. I remember hearing about people having their accounts locked with no explanation and I'm not sure most of them were able to get them unlocked in the end. I actually had an issue personally where I would be repeatedly silenced. I could never figure out why it would happen to me when I saw others talking about/using the exact same wording as me and not getting silenced but it turns out that someone was targetting me and kept reporting me. It was so frustrating. That community wasn't as nice as this one tbh. I'm sorry that happened to your account though. I still have mine and I look in it every once in a while but like you said, it's been a long journey of bad. It just kept going further downhill and there's nothing really for me to do there anymore.
aaa, sorry for the delay in responding ^^;;
every time i take a hiatus from subeta, i have the same issue...more and more people are leaving ;-; its so hard to keep up & its often lonely here for me as well :c i’m sorry you’ve been feeling that way too.
its awesome to hear you have been drawing again!! it’s so hard to make yourself start doing a thing, especially regularly,,,so kudos!! i actually recently have been convincing my bf to do the same thing bc he’s never drawn in his life and always has been talking about wanting to learn. eventually i was like you just gotta do a little at a time and become very.....very patient with yourself. it’s really neat to see bc since he’s so new to drawing, i can literally see him getting better.
it’s hard to draw regularly. it’s all the getting in that mindset of “oh well this drawing sucks but i learned something” and/or the whole “every drawing is about fun, doodling shit is okay” stuff. i’ve been pushing myself to draw shit on my ipad instead of my notepads....it’s soooo hard to get used to lol. i can see how youtube tutorials would help a lot :0 but also be frustrating lmao
(sorry if this was rambly lol)
Oh no no please don't be sorry!! I'm happy to hear from you and I like it when people have a lot to say and I definitely wouldn't consider it rambly at all ;w; And no worries, the thread will be here whenever you're ready and able! How are you doing these days? ^-^
It is quite sad!! And I'm sorry that you've been in the same position. But like others have said elsewhere I wanna be here til the end. xD Although I miss the old ones who have moved on I look forward to meeting new people too. If you ever want to chat I will be here and my comments and smail are always open too ♥
That is so cute that you've managed to convince him to take it up. I totally agree, at a certain point you have to just do it! I was the same with things like watercolor and such, and there's still stuff I'm putting off (embroidery and airdry clay sculpting for example). But you can't get better til you start! I bet it's so awesome to be able to watch him get better as he draws more. I'm glad he has someone like you to encourage him to do it but to have patience because I did not have patience AT ALL. Honestly that's really inspiring to me! I am in the process right now of learning to do construction, which is not how I used to draw when I was younger, so sometimes it feels like I'm learning from scratch instead of coming back to something I used to consider myself good at... But it's honestly been pretty fun! I have anxiety and it can be a good way to distract myself from bad things too. But I think I kind of struggle with the "it's okay if it's just for fun and isn't a serious thing", like with doodling too. I kind of do the same thing with my writing where I end up getting stuck because I feel like everything has to be good ;n; But it really sucks the fun out of it!
That's so cool that you draw on your ipad though! I've never had one of those but I do have a Wacom tablet that I've only used like once because I was very bad at it and it was very new territory for me XD Have you drawn on a tablet before? I think digital art is so beautiful u_u What do you like to draw? ;w; I totally agree about the frustrating part as well, I want to draw people and I'm so bad at it but seeing everyone good at it in the tutorial makes me go <n<
Ooh, earlier today I found my dip pen while cleaning my room. I set it aside until later on I opened it and played with the various points and India ink. Immediately I heard the gentle scratching as I made some strokes. I also saw that there is some technique I lack to write...much less write mirrored. I may not have good penmanship yet, but I'm seeing this but now it'd be a worthwhile skill to develop.
My projects to fill my indoor time do include tinkering with Legos. My side model is a traditional dragon design, but in my limited understanding will be done in small steps. I foresee many episodes of reworking and maybe a teardown or two. This model I'm building is for a friend's niece, whom I made a promise to make. I've decided to finish this, and that be my farewell. After this I'll donate the bulk elements, since they're only taking up space.
The finished model I'll post to show some friends here and document this creation.
