I would love to see a Hydrus recolor think of glade/Harvest but with OCEAN COLORS vs the brown they are now First choice would be that is all blue and pastels, I think most would have a pastel blue base and kind of "pearly" shells and soft color like mint colored seaweed. Maybe even soften the angry faces / slight blush? Oh please subeta color gods hear my pleas XD

Alternative coloration idea if you don't like pastel ocean stuff- think of the great wave painting (deep contrast blue and whites with bold color like deep orange etc?) Or teal bodies with bright colored accessories I really would love a pearly version with soft blues though, we have very few pets other then angelic that are "soft" colored ^^

I mostly support this. I absolutely agree that there should be an oceanic color that actually looks oceanic, and that potential color scheme sounds gorgeous. However I don't agree with recoloring hydrus pets.

It would be a great opportunity to make a pet color that doesn't look so angry or overly excited. A serene calm color that's not grumpy like glacier would be nice.

I'd support that. Hydrus pets as a concept seem mostly based on deep sea creatures. This alternate color could be more upper pelagic in nature.

Please no more recolors of repose colors.

I've been wanting a water color other than the brown and evil dispositions of hydrus but not as basic as aqua so I completely agree with this aside from just recoloring hydrus. Hydrus is meant to be Merana's minions and just recoloring it would ruin that. Like, why would Merana suddenly decide to make a more colorful version? Maybe there would be a "good" version but I don't know where that would come from.

What if there's a magic spring that removes the evil from hydrus pets and turns them into guardians of the ocean? You already have to have a hydrus pet in order for it to work.

I would much rather see a Delphi/Beach color, with all those characteristics but with original poses, friendly faces and some sand

I....like the idea of Hydrus recolors because I like the physical aspects of them. I agree it wouldn't make sense lore wise though.

I like this idea, whether it's a new colour or a recolour of Hydrus. I realised that Delphi doesn't really have its own colour like most of the other lands (Darkside has Darkmatter, Shadowglen has Graveyard and Nightmare, the Omen Islands have Hydrus and Vibrant [even though that's one of the basic colours], Arctic Frost has Glacier and Nostalgic, Peka has Glade, Veta has Harvest, and Atebus has Steamwork, Galactic, and Riftborn). Riverside doesn't really have its own colour either, so it could be related more to freshwater than the sea. Or maybe it could even have something to do with Shengui Guo, it could be another feature of the Bathhouse like adopting a Zentu is.

I’d support a recolor a la harvest to glade. maybe a new lore reason could be made up to make it work like a new npc who makes the ‘good’ hydrus pets or a way to let them ‘break free of merana’s grasp’ somehow.

I don't like the original suggestion as written because it's not likely NPC Merana will release these pets from her greedy and selfish grasp. She is an evil goddess you know. Hydrus is a curse. Some have suggested they want a cool-color palette pet that is happy, but Aqua is specifically watery and some of the basic subeta colors already are on the cool side of the palette. Other subeta colors both plain and posed do come in soft/pastel. All of these already existing things make me want to say get/make an overlay.

I find the idea proposed by other users of a posed-color of sunny and sandy Delphi Beach to be fun, but it would not really be what the OP is asking for. New pet color threads tend to drift quite wildly, no matter how specific their title is. So saying this does them no favor

I'd love an oceanic pet that looks more serene. Doing something inspired by Delphi or Omen Islands might work fairly well.

For lore stuff, if it was a recolor of Hydrus, perhaps it could basically be a broken curse? Since Merana is a wily one, it would probably have to be fairly difficult to break the curse. And idk, maybe if you break the curse, it angers her and she challenges you to a battle or something lol. I'm not a battler so I'm not sure if she's been an opponent before. But that might make some battlers happy, nonetheless!

Maleria was retired as a battle opponent because truth is, there isn't a single pet o Subeta that could truly defeat her. So, Merana is in the same basket.

I would love to see a Hydrus Blob. It could look like a mini coral reef with star fish and colorful fish swimming nearby and two wonderful eyes peeking out from the depths! :D

Man, I would love a Beach-type color. Blue color with sand color and texture, decorated with pastel seashells and/or swirly wave patterns would be lovely. Or possibly go with a more vivid color palette, based on tropical flowers like hibiscus and orchids, or birds like macaws and Rainbow lorikeets.

I think Hydrus should stay as is, but looooooooooooooove the idea of a new beachy pet color! Cute seashells, sandcastles, pearls, starfish, seaweed, etc - very much love!

I would looooooove a blue/tealy reef type pet colour! Oceanic sounds like a great name too.

I never finished this, but it was something I would love to see for a fun ocean-related colour. I took inspiration from the Sanddragon's colour scheme, and figured pets could carry buckets or typical beach props, and splash in or be covered in wet sand or something.

Base lineart really comes from Rah's rough sketches that she did for the Storm jollin that she shared publicly, and gave me permission to use one of the rough cut poses for this idea.
