November is only a few months away now, so I thought I'd start a thread for what people would like to see in this year's Fireside.

Since this year has involved a lot of staying indoors, maybe we could have some indoor items, either as backgrounds or as ground or foreground items to include when making HA areas. We've had so many outdoor items this year and they've all been good, so having indoor items would be good as well.

My ideas for said indoor items include stuff like furniture, mostly chairs, I think the only chair items we have at the moment are the beach chairs and the camping chairs so it would be good have have some others as well. I also like the idea of having door backgrounds that can be layered over backgrounds that are intended to be used as indoor walls. But that doesn't mean we can't have outdoor items as well.

I don't think we have any foregrounds that involve fire and flames, do we? I mean where it's just fire in the front, or maybe a border of it. That would be good to see as a bonfire prize or something.

I don't know what sort of food or books to suggest. I could be wrong, but I think that Riverside is going to be the place for the monthly battle challengers, and it's possible that the pet for that month could be a Rreign, not the Red Rreign but something similar, maybe we could have books about that. But it could just turn out to be another pet instead. EDIT: I was wrong.

That's all I can think of for now.

Obligatory last year's threat for inspiration Suggestions for Fireside 2019

And obligatory themed facemask suggestion xXxX

Some more ideas -a pamphlet protesting the bonfire for burning perfectly fine items and polluting the environment. -Pumpkin spice -candied nuts (the only one we do have is walnuts): Pecans, cashews, Almonds, peanuts. there's also plenty flavour varieties: glazed, cinnamon, sweet and spicy (with chili flakes), honey roasted -Ponchos xXxX -Well loved plushies, maybe with a worn and broken one in the pool of floating items and the brand new/fixed version as a possible bonfire prize -Since fireside is a holiday about thanking others for help (mostly the red reign but that could be expanded upon) maybe a tribute item to all the people that worked (and probably will be at it again by fall) really hard to help solve the corona crisis. Maybe a tribute to those who died, I know no subeta holiday more appropriate for this.

And last but not least, let me repeat that I am still getting real bored with the whole leaves/dragons/fire theme and would love to have it expanded, maybe in the ren faire direction or incorporating more international fall festivals as described in Fireside 2018 item suggestions Neugarten 2019 Suggestions

Oh, I like the plushie idea, more than the angry or sad Red Rreign items that become happy Wreathed Red Rreign items. The broken and fixed idea seems more unique.

Chiming in with a suggestion I made last year:

I&;d love to see some more flavors for this item, it&;s one of my faves:

Maybe some other fall flavors like sweet potato, cranberry, chocolate, ginger, maple, apple cider, maybe green apple for a nice change of color??

More handheld items!

No one's posted here in a while. You know those old firework items that have are small and are old enough to have an obvious gap where the HA is suppsoed to be? Well, we could either have bigger versions of those that don't have the HA gap so they can be used with anything and over any background, or those ones could be revamped and re-released. And maybe there could also be borders based on them similar to my earlier suggestion about flame borders.

There are some old old Fireside items that are super duper high prices or just plain unavailable. Yes, we've had quests release old items, but apparently never these ones, or if they are these ones, only one or two ever for the entire two weeks. Can we have them re-released? Like really truly re-released and not "we think this is a nifty idea" and then not doing the release in any way that users can notice?

In regards to Fireside, I think the holiday is over-saturated with the Thanksgiving themed stuff. Maybe it&;s time to bring in inspiration for the holiday from holidays of other countries?

For instance, in Asia we have the Mid-Autumn festival, and whilst it&;s celebrated much earlier than Fireside, it is still very in-theme with the rest of Fireside (autumnal colours, leaves, food, etc). We also have a festival called the Dragon Boat festival. These holidays could be used as inspiration for future ideas/directions.

The history of the mid-autumn festival is that it began as a moon worship thing, so we eat mooncakes. They have a salty egg-yolk to symbolise the moon. But in modern times there are so many variations of the moon cake, there are custard ones, red bean, etc etc. And differently shaped ones, one stamped with pictures.. etc. So maybe we chould get some rreign shaped cakes?

I think a lot of people are familiar with lanterns! We could have some lantern items that can be presented as how people in Shengui Guo, Sacred Lands or Artic Frost celebrate Fireside. Maybe people in the Artic Frost want to celebrate Fireside but since they are so far from Veta Lakes they do it with lanterns?? Actually I think maybe we should just have more lanterns.. a mini-lantern based holiday.. so many cultures celebrate with lanterns of some kind. :P

In Chinese culture we eat these bamboo-leaf wrapped "dumpling" things we call zongzi during the Dragon Boat festival. The bamboo leaves are wrapped around sticky rice which has different kinds of fillings. There are so many different kinds of fillings but also so many different shapes that the zongzi can be wrapped in. Some more info on zongzi. Rreign shaped zongzi anyone?

Oh, I just remembered.

The storytelling contest. What's happening with that?

We were told it was delayed, and then we were told it would be used for a different holiday, but it still hasn't, and now Fireside isn't too far away, so you might as well just do it for its originally intended holiday this year.

How about a moth-inspired fantasy fashion set, since moths are attracted to flames? Could be a great opportunity to use dusky fall colors in a new way and get some moth/butterfly wearables that aren't traditional wings or costumes.

Some inspo:

Head ornamentmoth wing cape <- can find lots of interesting front-facing pose ideas for body mod capes when searching for butterfly wing cape, to show the wings • monarch butterfly dressfuzzy capeSome accessoriesdeath's head moth capelmao would be a perfect minionmoth warrior ensemablevarious moth/butterfly outfit sketchesprincely moth ensemablemoth kimono/haoriluna moth kimono set

In this vein, it'd be cool to see lanterns/lamps, as held or ground items. They could be plain, and have versions drawing moths to them as decorations!

Moth friends alighting on various parts of the HA's body, similar to the and other colors.

We have a CS donation present moth head ornament almost exactly like this example, and the monarch wing dress is very much like some CWs

The capes are cool but I am puzzled as to how to show them properly on a HA facing forward. The backsides of moth wings look different and are much less interesting, so even if you got some of the cape to show behind the HA it would still look weird.

I love the elaborate feelers, headdresses all feathery and the flufy body dresses those would be cool. The kimono haori are awesome, but would require the artists to dare to draw something as if it continues past the HA's given dimensions, somethign they don't like to do (but yay for whale and whale shark!).

Books

  • Book of harvest blessings and prayers.
  • A book about expressing gratitude and thankfulness during hard times.
  • Fireside recipe cards.
  • Stories of survival and lessons learned from those who survived the cold, hunger and fear that brought about the first Fireside.
  • A book about preserving foods through drying and curing.

Stickers

  • More food stickers.
  • Angelic Red Reign sticker.
  • Demonic or Nightmare Red Reign sticker.

Wearable

  • Kitchen background elements like a woodburning cast-iron stove, electric and gas stoves, fireplace, fridge, sink and overhead cabinets so we can create our own cooking spaces.
  • Dining table foreground element.
  • Outdoor cast-iron firepit.
  • More held wearables with mitts and food fresh out of the oven, like the "Luminaire Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough".
  • More peaceful rural backgrounds like "Gourd Witch Stone Path", "Thatched House Playset", "Fall Hay Bale" and "Decorative Spider Locket".
  • Held cast-iron kettle.
  • More clothing associated with the time period that the villagers lived in.
  • Drifting embers foreground.
  • Shawls constructed from layers of leaves (maybe a green and yellow leaves shawl, orange and red leaves shawl, brown and purple leaves shawl or even a shawl with all the leaf colors in it).
  • Shawls made from discarded feathers (a lot of birds are migrating this time of year, i've seen feathers all over the place).
  • Arms wrapped around a bounty of vegetables (could be variations on this such as armful of squash, armful of corn, armful of grains, ect..) *The bounty of food could cover all of the torso, shoulder and arms, only exposing newly posed transparent hands and wrist. That way, a user wouldn't have to wear a chest/overchest item so that the transparent hands can utilize the avatars base color.
  • Knee deep pile of vegetables. (Could be both background and foreground elements to show depth).
  • More hanging herbs like the "Herbal Bouquet", or maybe some hanging garlic.
  • Hanging garlands made from sunflowers, tiny pumpkins, autumn leaves, dried corn, pinecones.
  • Head/Face wearables with faces made from fruits and vegetables like the surreal paintings of Giuseppe Arcimboldo.
Giuseppe Arcimboldo Paintings (CLICK TO TOGGLE)

Minions

  • Fireside versions of the bathhouse attendants, such as: Bonfire Attendant, Field Harvest Attendant.
  • More vegetable warriors from the Great Turnip War.
  • Freed versions of the 'Bottled Fire Spirit' wearables.

Edible

  • Red Reign sculpture made from fruits, vegetables and grains.
  • Pemmican (An indigenous high energy food made from a mixture of fat, meat and dried fruit. I imagine the villagers might have eaten something similar to survive while faced with the sudden freeze that destroyed their crops.)

Toys

  • Corn husk Red Reign dolls.
  • Red Reign angel chime (Though usually reserved for Christmas I thought it fitting for Fireside because the flames could respresent the Red Reigns mercy on the villagers by thawing out the land and the angels, turned into reigns, could be symbolic of how the people now view the reformed Red Reign as watchful and benevolent.)
Angel Chime, Link to Youtube to see the chime in action (CLICK TO TOGGLE) Behold the magic of thermodynamics.

Activities

  • Fireside battle challengers!

I'll add to this list as I think of more things.

I went and looked at the forum announcement from ages ago and apparently Rah is in charge of the contest, and obviously she's not available right now, so I guess that won't be happening this year. It would be good if we at least had an update about it, though, so we know that no one has forgotten about it (I've forgotten myself a few times), or if it's ended up being cancelled.
