There doesn't seem to be a thread like this already? It's coming up soon.

's Suggestion HERE about cutlery/dishware in this section, this could be implemented with a leafy/fiery/smoke theme. We did get some Morostide napkins/plastic utensils/solocups years ago. Time for a new seasonal dishware.

I would like to see regional dishes. Like the Darkside Traybake: they crunchy comes from extra clinkers. Sherimos Traybake: the grainy base isn't really sand, but cumin flavored shortbread. Underground Traybake: we hope those greenish globe-things are from a Bog Berry Tangle. Centropolis Traybake: the gold-leaf on top is traditional ever since one was served to Chancellor Phoenix that way. Delphi Traybake: Full of tropical fruit flavor from Councilor Chamalma's nana's own recipe. Don't tell her we told the secret ingredient!

Each regional item can come in the same rectangular tray with different side decorations, or the artists could really do an interpretation of just how it's served with a plate and serving utensil nearby.

More chilli with unique takes on the dish would be nice!

Roasted variants of veggies would be great too! Like peppers, carrots, tomatoes, corn, etc.

Leaf wrapped foods would be a cute idea.

Non foods:

More scarves with patterns and positions fluttering or drooping.

Sweaters with positioned limbs, holding food, holding one's self as if cold. Ah maybe holding a stick roasting a marshmallow or whatever.

Anklets/bracelets/necklaces with delicate leaf, Rreign, flame, or other charms.

Rreign tails and claws.

I love your non-food Suggestions! I don't know if staff looks here in Items for wears though unless they're also eatables. Maybe I or you should start another thread over in Avatars, what do you think?

I suppose, though I figure I would just lump my suggestions together just in case.

yeah, there's merit in lumping them, as the Morostide 2018 thread does that. I am gonna succumb to Teh Lazy. The MiniMods can move it as they see fit.

Yass, seasonal dishware!

In regards to Fireside, I think the holiday is over-saturated with the Thanksgiving themed stuff. Maybe it's time to bring in inspiration for the holiday from holidays of other countries?

For instance, in Asia we have the Mid-Autumn festival, and whilst it's celebrated much earlier than Fireside, it is still very in-theme with the rest of Fireside (autumnal colours, leaves, food, etc). We also have a festival called the Dragon Boat festival. These holidays could be used as inspiration for future ideas/directions.

The history of the mid-autumn festival is that it began as a moon worship thing, so we eat mooncakes. They have a salty egg-yolk to symbolise the moon. But in modern times there are so many variations of the moon cake, there are custard ones, red bean, etc etc. And differently shaped ones, one stamped with pictures.. etc. So maybe we chould get some rreign shaped cakes?

SPOILER (click to toggle)

I think a lot of people are familiar with lanterns! We could have some lantern items that can be presented as how people in Shengui Guo, Sacred Lands or Artic Frost celebrate Fireside. Maybe people in the Artic Frost want to celebrate Fireside but since they are so far from Veta Lakes they do it with lanterns?? Actually I think maybe we should just have more lanterns.. a mini-lantern based holiday.. so many cultures celebrate with lanterns of some kind. :P

SPOILER (click to toggle)

In Chinese culture we eat these bamboo-leaf wrapped "dumpling" things we call zongzi during the Dragon Boat festival. The bamboo leaves are wrapped around sticky rice which has different kinds of fillings. There are so many different kinds of fillings but also so many different shapes that the zongzi can be wrapped in. Some more info on zongzi. Rreign shaped zongzi anyone?

SPOILER (click to toggle)

This one is sticky rice wrapped in a lotus leaf:

If anyone has any ideas form other cultures I would love to see them. :D

Mooncakes yum! I support mooncakes. We could try a vegetable portable shrine as a backdrop for zuiki matsuri, or it could be an elaborate edible. I think lanterns also appear in some autumn festivals there, but they come in large arrays.

I know plum cakes are late season dish in Germany, and they have a distinct look. Cassoulet is a shareable dish as is Tarte Tatin and any gratin of potatoes and these are kinda late autumnal in France. Citrus Figs and Persimmons are all late autumn fruits in California.

i'll dig up my old fireside suggestions tomorrow (though, i think they were mostly wearable so i guess i can make a separate thread for those) but before i forget -- i still wanna see jello salad :B Jello Salads: Unleash The Nightmare

i want to second mooncakes, and oh my god, i'd love it if we got zongzi! i did a google to see if it was what i thought it was -- i didn't know there were so many names for it! i just know it as the sticky rice/glutinous rice dessert i see at family parties sometimes ;w;

e/ You got a forum point while making a post! Check out the shop here! forum shop agrees! give us the sticky rice!

's idea of including other holidays then thanksgiving as inspiration is great. therefore I did some googling international fall holidays and cool facets that could be honored in subeta items

  1. Diwali hindu festival of light -Rangoli: elaborate patterns made on the ground using colored sand/rice/flour/flower petals -Bhai duj: brothers day , a day to honor the bond among siblings -Kukur Tihar: a day to honor dogs (I cannot find if this is part of diwali or just a very similar festival) Dogs are adorned with marigold garlands and red tika marks on their head they are also given al sorts of treats

2.MassKara Festival Philippines festival of smiles -festival originated to cheer up people after time of tragedy -madi grass like carnaval parade with Philippines influences -yearly contest for best group of dancers in parade

3.Guy Fawkes Night celebration of prevention of the gunpowder plot UK

  • burning effigy's of guy fawkes (and possibly other hated public people) -Huge bonfires

4.Nine Emperor Gods Festival SE asian

  • Vegetarian festival (it is believed that not eating meat/dairy/seafood in the 9th lunar month is good for your health) -rest of the festivity's include lots of ritual self harm so the vegetarian part is probably the only cool thing

5.Saint Martin's day catholic festival celebrated all over EU -Celebrations varry greatly across EU -East EU belief if it snows on saint martins day it will snow on cristmas -BeNeLux + germany : children walk with paper lanterns and get candy -Several countries: first tasting day for newly made wine

I love your suggestions! Actually I think that more of Subeta's holidays could benefit from some non-Western inspiration, maybe when those holidays get a bit closer we should brainstorm on threads too. :)

Talking about sweaters - I suggested wide-sleeved ones on this thread, which may be nice considering they're in vogue this season. And how about any dresses in autumny colours? XXXXXXXXXXXXXX

These dresses are three different kinds. Simplified Stevie Nicks witch/widows weeds (I think these dresses are going out), smock dress (I've seen this quite recently, but in much louder colors, so this is very recent), and kawaii lace manga high-fashion japanese dresses.

The first kind got done as CWs a few times. I like the lacy ones.

Since you seem to cater towards food, and the site is gearing towards battlers (my highest is tier 9 whoop whoop!) maybe:

A food achievement type thing that once you feed the required set of new fireside foods to your pet, they get a stat boost! Only happens once per pet of course ;)

wut?

Who is catering food, and where? Fireside is a holiday where new food items do tend to happen. I am not staff, so just because I Suggest food doesn't mean anything.

IMO the site does not and should not gear towards battlers, nor is there any particular emphasis on battling during the holiday of Fireside.

Your Suggestion could be implemented as an Achievement in which you get a stat-booster item as a prize for completing it. However, there'd be no way to make any user to use it on that specific pet with existing coding. As it exists given by you, it is not very likely because it would require special coding and the site's coders are going to be crazy busy for the next few months until January 2019 at least. It's holiday season.

Not sure where the rudeness is coming from. You wanted mainly food suggestions, so I suggested an idea using that food since the site -is- currently putting an emphasis on battling. And achievements that gave prizes used to be fun, so stat boost (however it happens) or some other achievement prize that's actually useful would be great to see, and a change of pace from the same old holiday routine. Also "cater" can mean, "give preference to". I chose that word to stick with the food vibe.

Just realised during my write up for the morostide thread that there's another fairly relevant asian holiday.

Right now I live in Hong Kong and we have the ghost festival, also known as the hungry ghost festival. There's a lot of burning of paper items (as offerings) and food left out (also as offerings). It's a taoist/buddhist holiday.

During the month (this was last month for us) people burn stuff on the streets, pretty interesting!

fire and burningg

They burn stuff that is shaped like basically every item. Traditionally it was cash but nowdays there is more modern stuff like iPads and iPhones. Maybe the rreign has developed a taste for thingsother than rreign shapes? haha.

These paper effigy thingies are all pretty cool. There were some pet effigy things given out for morostide one year and I saved them until fireside instead of instantly fragmentizing them and they never became burn-able.

There's a pheasant, ostrich and a duck in the Animal Chance machine, but most of the birds in it are predatory or exotic. The geese in the twelve days of christmas exist but I can't find a turkey even so this is weird? I can totally see adding in something like grouse or cute little quails.

Subeta does have heirloom Ikumoradeekanox fruits, and I think it has started growing those again. The Atebus Shop also has some weird looking fruits and it might be interesting to see some heirloom Ziara Underground produce from there. Some of the stuff in Food Market is totally worth modifying to look like some of the really cool heirloom varieties I've been seeing in RL farmer's markets
