hi yall!! i talked to and i'm going to be hosting kantests for a few weeks, since they're not feeling up to it and i have some great contest ideas for yall!
anyone can enter, not just members of kantests, though if you like ha contests i recommend joining!
also, for the duration of my hosting, i'm going to be giving out special prizes: that is to say, art!! scroll down to the prize section if you want to check that out c:
so this first contest is about creating something "trashcore" -- digging in the garbage bin and pulling up something awesome. think the absolute opposite of classy.
here's a few requirements:
- your avatar must have an "undesirable" theme, such as creepy crawlies, thrift store finds (and i don't mean the cool ones), lowbrow entertainment, pests like rats or pigeons, ugly vintage items, clowns or dolls, cheap items and whatever-works diy, fashion styles associated with the lower class, tv aimed at small children, or whatever you want. it doesn't have to be something you think is bad -- just something society tries to tell us is bad, or generally poo-poos on. (however, because some people are genuinely scared of things, if you do a common phobia, like spiders or creepy dolls, please put it under a spoiler.)
- your avatar must have a clashing colour scheme! if you're not into bright colours, dull colours that don't typically go together can work too! but i want to see LOTS of different colours on these bad boys.
- your avatar must be BUSY. i want interest everywhere i look. no tasteful minimalism here!
- no body horror. blood/bruising/weapons are fine, just please no guts or body parts where they shouldn't be. just a matter of what i can personally stomach. also, no zombie skins please, even the tame ones.

This is a real cool contest. I went with a corvid-esque cryptid cause A) I'm predictable B) they're known for picking through trash almost as much as raccoons. C) Magpies are great okay

I love neons so much~ Loud, bright colors, all mashed together and blinding... But you get such weird looks when you wear something that isn't "normal".
But the subject for the "trashy" bit would be graffiti! I honestly love well done graffiti, it's such a work of art and livens up boring walls that are usually so dull and boring.

Hm... I don't have that much "neon" in my wardrobe + it's usually not my style to clash as many colours together as humanly possible... BUT when I read the "tv aimed at small children" and "something society tries to tell us is bad, or generally poo-poos on" I had to think about anime series immediatly. In my country there is still the popular opinion: "Anime and cartoon are the same and therefore, it's "trash" that only small children would like"... Thanks for hosting this one! I'll never understand why so many people don't like rats -- they're adorable! I've had many as pets and they've always been very affectionate and smart, like pocket-sized puppies. I've also always loved bugs and have never been shy about picking up just about any insect -- spiders being the exception. So, I tried to combine my love of both bugs and rats mixed with an odd sense of "fashion" that I actually used to wear when I was younger, haha.
