Quentin in the Neutral Characters section

Quote
There have been no explanations on from where Quentin has come or whether there are others like them with horns, pointed ears and claw-like fingernails. Some Subetans believe that Quentin may very well be a somewhat friendly demon, possibly a descendant of the clan described in one of the many legends surrounding the Krypts within the graveyard.

Quentin in the Quest Givers section

Quote
Is of Ji-Meneb descent

From the Meneb (Darkside) entry

Quote
The Ji-Meneb shared a similar appearance to other indigenous population of Subeta -- Humanoid in appearance, with longer, pointed ears, however they also typically have horns (varying in size and style), and a green tint to the sclera of their eyes. This tint is caused by a protective membrane formed over the surface of the eye, originally evolved to protect the delicate eye from the dust and grit of the Darkside. A notable example of Ji-Meneb citizen is Quentin, the questgiver in nearby Shadowglen.

A lot of Subetapedia entires are outdated, they could all do with being rewritten, and having the art updated (Like on Mori and Nori's entry). Maybe if we suggested some changes and even written ideas the staff could use that if they're too busy to come up with all of it themselves?

I have no idea how the story of Calvin Blackmoon could be made to tie in with the origins of the Atebus Revolution Masquerade.

See this post in another topic.

I kind of like the idea of crowdsourcing edits to the Subetapedia. Users like to write, and people are very adept at finding out and gathering all the relevant information. There are, of course, some things that could only be speculated, and maybe we users would have to steer clear of those, but there are many more that we could help with. Since Subeta is such a small staff, I think it would help them out and help us have a consistent site.

Maybe we could all start by finding things that need to be updated.

Ian Asmodeus Neutral Character entry

Quote
Aside from the aforementioned hostility between Doctors Asmodeus and Euclid, Ian has other notable relationships, the most obvious being with his rreign, Curie. Although the rreign species did not spawn from any of his experiments, it is said that Curie is original prototype of the nuclear variety of several species. Despite being one of his many projects, the relationship they share is much deeper than that between a doctor and a patient. Curie and Asmodeus have a very strong friendship that very little, if anything, could pull apart.

It is also worth noting that Ian has a protective streak when it comes to Quentin, questions about their gender and other private matters and how those questions affect their feelings.

I think Jaxon Skelly should count as one of Ian's notable relationships. :)

He's also older than 20 now.

If you'd re going to compile a list character edits, I would edit the board title to make it clearer to staff. As you can tell these characters have gone through changes as plots and years have changed their stories.

Just changed the board title as suggested.

I've been thinking about the Blackmoon/Masquerade entries.

The Masquerade story could stay as it is because it's about celebrating something that happened several centuries ago. Blackmoon's story could have a bit of retconning.

 1. Atebus was an independent settlement when Blackmoon invaded.

 2. Steam technology was no match for Blackmoon's advanced technology.

 3. Blackmoon soon discovered that ruling Atebus wasn't as much fun as developing new technology. He's now happy to let the citizens run everything themselves as long as they don't try to get rid of him.

 4. Ziara culture is now divided. The traditionalists who like their steam technology live in the upper level. People who prefer Blackmoon's advanced technology are in the lower level.

It'd be nice to have a section dedicated to summarizing plots we've had in the past. At least this way new players can find out how the lore has changed over the years, such as who the hell Amy is and why people mention her still.

I agree it would be nice to have an old plot section. At the moment the Subeta Wiki is a good source of old plots information. Some character entries also have records of earlier artwork such as Jim starting out as a Charlie.

Perhaps the Subetapedia could have two sections. Characters/Locations/Holidays concentrates on Subeta being a real fantasy world. Maybe a few items could be retconned to fit in with this. Old plots could show how the fantasy world was built up over time.

I find it jarring about him being 20 as well, I mean, aside from the fact that none of the NPCs seem to age, 20 is quite an unrealistic age for him to be in his career position, unless things work differently on Subeta, or he was smart enough to be skipped ahead in education. But mainly I think it's because Keith was young during the time when that entry was written, and might not have known about that sort of stuff. I would say he's more likely in his mid to late 20's at least.

Also, it's not like Subeta hasn't retconned stuff before, so they could get away with doing that to a lot of characters and events and stuff...

Things could be different on Subeta in that young geniuses aren't restricted because of their age. After all, it's a fantasy world with magic and zombies. A revised entry for Ian Asmodeus could say something like "he was 20 when.." to indicate that he is older than that now. Calvin Blackmoon's entry could also indicate that he's aged since he took over Atebus.

Jaxon Skelly doesn't have an entry as far as I can see. He's not listed as a holiday NPC or mentioned in the Morostide article even though the latter includes a pic of his pumpkin patch.

In RL sued and won emancipation from his parents at a young age. Maybe this character is meant to be as awesome as Keith is?

The first AMR site even with Inspector Thorpe and Marcel Martenez was driven by an attempt by Blackmoon to ...take over again? ..win government contracts? There were plans to update and improve the Endeavor as a war machine. Anyways the second AMR site event had a time rift that erased all of that and we saw all of our pets turn into futuristic Endeavors.

We don't know a lot about jurisprudence in Subeta, because Martenez chose to fight and die instead of being arrested, mass-poisoner Jaxon Skelly is alive and free, and Gunther is being held without bail "pending investigation" for a year now. For all we know Blackmoon Inc. owns the whole of Atebus but you'd never know it behind all the shell companies etc. and Chancellor Phoenix would still have him arrested if he ever was caught down on Subeta.

(1) There's no Subetapedia entry for the Endeavor and the Subeta Wiki entry just says

Quote
Contrary to popular belief, the Endeavor was not originally made by Calvin Blackmoon. He found them already in use by the inhabitants of Atebus and heavily modified them for his own purposes.

This also shows that Atebus was more than just an experimental settlement when Blackmoon conquered it.

(2) The only people who know about Jaxon's past are Ian Asmodeus, the person who helped Ian (played by the users) and the Dungarde. So, I won't tell if you don't. :D

(3) Gunter is being held in a high security detention facility in the Arctic Frost. Who else is there and did anyone get a proper trial? Gunter's crime is also unusual because, after the murder, the corpse moved to Shadowglen and is now running a food shop. (Or was his brother already an Unliving at the time?)

I looked up bail for murder according to UK lawout of curiosity.

Quote
Section 114 of the Coroners and Justice Act 2009 amends Schedule 1 to the Bail Act 1976. Section 114(2) provides that bail may not be granted to someone charged with murder unless the court is satisfied that there is no significant risk that, if released on bail, that person would commit an offence that would be likely to cause physical or mental injury to another person. In coming to that decision, the court must have regard to the nature and seriousness of the offence, the suspect&;s character and antecedents and his record in relation to previous grants of bail.

Maybe Gunter would qualify for bail in the UK.

(4) I like the idea of Blackmoon owning the whole of Atebus behind shell companies etc. Maybe he's been busy expanding a business empire and now owns a lot of Subeta.

I'm now moving on to species information for pets. I think there needs to be an introduction explaining that these are very basic guides to common characteristics but individuals and sub species (Graveyard, Nightmare and Bloodred) can be very different. For example, my Spite of Styx is a Nightmare Harvester who isn't a benevolent spirit by any stretch of the imagination - she's one of Maleria's scary assassins (pet job) and her treasure chest contains poisons and other bits and pieces useful for her profession.

reveals that this Lasirus is a vampire bat. When we get a Lasirus article it would be nice if it said something like the species evolved from vampire bats. They are now omnivorous but some individuals prefer blood.

I think the description of the Endeavor is like the description of the where it says it will mutate your pet. It's not necessarily true. ;)

Subeta's a game so a lot of the choices we took as part of last Morostide's site event were not necessarily what we as individuals wanted, for instance that pesky blanket. :) But if Jaxon gets away with it because smexy, then Gunther should too.

Jaxon's a bit complicated. His original life was horrific. After he'd poisoned the humans he was overcome with guilt and remorse and committed suicide. He then spent many years or even centuries as a ghost who materialised for Morostide and he couldn't remember the circumstances of his death. Maybe he'd be found guilty with extenuating circumstances and let off because he'd served a sentence being confined to Skelly Manor.

Perhaps Gunter could be regarded as guilty with diminished responsibility because he had a bad drinking problem. 'He then had some kind of breakdown and has spent the past year in a detention facility with no bail and no trial. It's difficult to think of more until we hear the end of the story. All supposing we ever get to hear the end of the story, of course. If there's nothing more during this Neugarten I shall complain in a Feedback topic. :D

This is true. According to the Subetapedia -

Quote
Shadowglen is an independent state, once a mostly-compliant colony of Centropolis that was released under its own power when the terrain was determined to be too inhospitable.

The Tehb would have had their own laws before humans arrived but we have no idea what they were. Maybe Shadowglen now has a mix of Tehb and human laws but which human laws? The Book Nook language text books show that human settlers came from several countries on Earth. US law isn't exactly the same as UK law in the details for example.

We aren't told anything about the Vetan government or what its laws are either. It seems that the SAI has authority there because nobody said otherwise when Cardale arrested Gunter.

All we can do is have fun speculating with zero information unless the staff provides some.

Now that I think about it, it would be good if the character's Subetapedia entires or even just on the NPC lists told us what species they were. There are some characters who I'm unsure if they're supposed to be humans from Earth or descended from humans from Earth like us, or a native species to Subeta, or maybe even a mixture? I'd like to know what exactly Charity is since she has those very long pointy ears, and if Reischen is a Ji-Meneb who has different coloured eyes to green for whatever reason or another species that's similar and has different eye colours.

I&;d like to know what exactly Charity is since she has those very long pointy ears, and if Reischen is a Ji-Meneb who has different coloured eyes to green for whatever reason or another species that&;s similar and has different eye colours.

From the Shadowglen article -

Quote
The traditional group native to Shadowglen are the Tehb, allegedly a hornless off-shoot of the Ji-Meneb people of the neighboring Darkside. A large region, Shadowglen is home to a variety of ethnic groups that make up the "Tehb People". This, combined with their history of intermarriage with humans and the Ji-Meneb, mean that their appearance can be highly variable and not easily identifiable.

From the Darkside article -

Quote
Historically, the Darkside was home to indigenous Subetans known as the Ji-Meneb (in their language, literally "born of Meneb"), however their populations have dwindled significantly due to interbreeding with other indigenous Subetan populations, as well as Humans.

The Ji-Meneb shared a similar appearance to other indigenous population of Subeta -- Humanoid in appearance, with longer, pointed ears, however they also typically have horns (varying in size and style), and a green tint to the sclera of their eyes.

The Arctic Frost article doesn't say what kind of ears the Ytivi and Tormirgard have. The Darkside article suggests that all indigenous races have longer pointed ears so they probably do as well.

It's likely that Reischen is of mixed descent so he inherited horns from Ji-Meneb ancestors and different coloured eyes from human or other ancestors.

The Charity article isn't very helpful when it comes to Charity, though.

Quote
Before she had even introduced herself, however, she had been singled out by the others as the odd one out, her strange appearance having given her away as not quite human. Her shocking purple hair and pointed ears set her apart, and she could do little to hide her differences.

Quentin Is of Ji-Meneb descent and has pointed ears and purplish hair. The Riverside article says that ji-Meneb migrants are especially common there so pointed ears and purple hair shouldn't have caused a big sensation. Charity's mother has an interesting talent, though..

Quote
Charity had never known hunger, it seemed. The girl&;s mother, who had the sense of a professionally trained chef and the power to conjure up any ingredient known to Subeta with the mere flick of her ladle, spent more time serving delicious meals to her family than she did actually cooking them.

Soon enough, however, she (Charity) became aware of their differences; their parents, it seemed, did not have the ability to create anything they wanted!

This doesn't automatically mean that her mother isn't a full or part indigenous native or even a human, of course. The Old Wizard does magic spells, the Spells Galore shop sells ingredients for spells and there are many books about magic including this one -

- "A recipe book for the lazy magic-user in your life."

It seems that Charity's article was written before it was decided that pointed ears were normal for indigenous Subetan races and many Subetans of mixed descent.

On to Darkheart Phantom.

Quote
In the blackest depths of night Darkheart Phantom strikes, breaking into the tombs of Shadowglen Graveyard and recovering relics of enormous value. Darkheart Phantom is a most dastardly demi that leads a band of grave robbers working with the Maleria in order to gain power.

He also takes over Melody's cottage on the 22nd December to hand out silly gifts. Why? Does Melody mind? She probably does but is scared to do anything about it because it's likely that Maleria would be very angry if she did. Don't upset a goddess who employs scary assassins.

You have to remember that while US and UK laws might differ in details they are both common law, precedent-based systems. In Europe where I'm from variations on France and Germany-influenced civil law is the norm instead and statute of limitations on murder outside of war crimes, genocide etc tends to be 20-30 years instead of unlimited, which is why I'm bringing it up. And that is of course not going into any customary or religious laws the Tehb might have had. Depending on the laws of the land Jaxon might not even be prosecutable anymore :)

Jaxon himself claims to have no memory of the events preceding his death which could be a sign of mental instability at the time, allowing for diminished capacity/insanity defense and reduced sentence. Or you could even argue he acted under duress from his father who knows, dude was clearly a tool.

Also, seriously, correct me if I'm wrong but the only real proof we have is Dungarde's claims anyway? Which, while very dramatic/compelling seems to be hearsay and also made by a creature that is hardly impartial, could easily be argued to hold a grudge and has a vested interest in Jaxon dying (again)

Gunter's bail was set at 30bil sP that's why he is still sitting in jail awaiting trial, pass it on.
