I mean, if anything, it's not an 'actual' Pokemon game. It's pretty much Pokemon Go for the Switch combined with Pokemon Yellow.

I actually like the game. It's obviously a game they tried to make for all ages considering there are kids who also play Go and it's nostalgic to people who missed Yellow. It's overall a pretty good game and I hope they can take what's good about the game (choice in encounters vs random battles, the great reworked soundtrack, graphics, etc) and stick them into the next Pokemon game. I have the Eevee version and I personally really enjoy this game and have been playing nonstop.

The only issue I have with the game is that motion controls aren't an option that you can turn off. It's not a huge bother to me even though I personally don't like motion controls, but I know some friends who would have trouble playing this game due to mobility issues in their hands and/or wrists (arthritis, carpal tunnel, etc). Even in the Switch's mobile mode, there's still some motion controls. It's really inexcusable for Nintendo who tries to cater to ALL audiences and claims that their games are 'accessible' to completely disregard their disabled audience. It's the same problem they had with the recent Mario Party and some moves in Mario Odyssey. It's not that hard to have an option to turn off motion control when they've done it for Splatoon 2, Mariokart, and even BotW. If indie game devs can add a ton of options to make their games more accessible, then a multimillion dollar company like Nintendo really has no reason to not include similar options for a part of their audience.

Shrugs Anything with the pokemon title is an actual pokemon game imo. It isn't a mainline game because it's not a new region in my opinion (remakes do not count as mainline to me). I've heard some people insisting that it's a remake or a mainline game, but I look at the mechanics of it, and I have firmly decided it is a spinoff. It's close to the standard games, but somewhere in the ballpark that Pokemon Ranger was (I think throwing the ball instead of drawing circles makes this better though, drawing circles in that Ranger game killed me).

I hope in the next game they show pokemon walking around in the tall grass life-sized! I haven't recieved my pre-order in the mail yet (probably because I live in the middle of nowhere) but I'm eagerly awaiting my copy of eevee! I can't wait to go shiny hunting aaa!

I agree about the motion controls. Some people are claiming they're finicky even when they're not disabled; for whatever reason the balls will just fly to the left or right even when you are tossing straight forward, they say. I hope I'll be all right when I get it. The good thing about pokemon games is there are plenty to choose from so even if disabled players cannot play this one, they can still play other pokemon games. It's unfortunate that motion controls can't be turned off for this one, though. They're getting a lot of backlash about that at the moment though, so they'll probably either release a patch for that or else fix the issue in the next games. I doubt they'll be incorporating the safari zone style catching mechanic in the regular series so it should be okay for that, hopefully.

Sorry if that sounded condescending, I meant not part of the 'main series' titles. I'm not saying it's not a Pokemon game, just that it's different from what most people are used to.

Also not to say that those games are bad just because you don't battle wild Pokemon etc etc. I absolutely loved Pokemon Stadium and Pokemon Snap is still one of my favorite N64 games. Hoping they'll remake it and put it on the Switch, that's actually one game that would benefit a lot from motion control. :'D

I'm hoping they'll patch something in and that Nintendo learns from the recent backlashes with Mario Party and Let's Go, especially in their future releases for the Switch.

My sister and I have been having a lot of fun actually with lets go eevee and pikachu. We shiny hunted all day yesterday. She got shiny caterpie, and I found a shiny chancey. ^^ This is before finishing the games so no charm yet. Can't wait to hunt more with the charm though. I wish the trainer was more customization though.

I got let's go eevee and within an hour of playing got a shiny weedle :o

WOW, SO LUCKY! I have the shiny charm now but I haven't encountered a single one yet (despite chaining ~275 bell sprout before the charm and chaining 50+ rapidash with it). I have completed my pokedex with the help of a friend before getting any of the legendaries, so I might encounter some shiny birds and mew two!

@ all of you: I got my game and I've beaten it now, but my enjoyment is palpable! I am currently shiny chaining rapidash and there's a tip to know when a pokemon is about to run away and break your chain. Typically they have an animation they do when they are first encountered. Then they do an animation to knock away your pokeball. What tells you they're about to run is when they play a different animation and shout their cry. Generally they like, do this pose and shout at the same time. Within seconds they're going to flee. If you back out before they can flee, your chain will stay intact. Good luck if you guys go hunting for more shinies! This tip saved my rapidash chain from breaking on over 4 separate occassions!

I dunno if you kno this but once you hit 31 on the chain, you can just stay idle on the screen w a lure and run away from all battles until a shiny spawns, because the shiny rate is capped at 31 encounters :)

I am two pokémon away from completing my pokédex ;O; (Growlithe and Scyther) and I'm pretty thrilled with the game overall. We got Let's Go Eevee, and I'm pretty much praying that there will be DLC's of the other regions as well.

• I really enjoy that the pokemon appear and you don't have to worry about spending AGES in a tunnel because every step you take there's a pokemon, I mean yes repel is there but getting in and out of rock tunnel save for the trainers made me really happy. ( call me lazy or whatever lmao)

• Alolan pokemon trades kind of feel like an easter egg to me ::INTENSE SHRUGGING::

• I do wish there was a little more flexibility in the customization of the trainer, though am probably spoiled after playing pokemon X and pokemon moon.

-- I got a shiny kakuna not far into the game as well :o Pretty stoked about it even though Beedrill is not exactly my favorite/I don't really ever carry bug-type pokemon on me lol.

I know, but if you keep going with your chain, eventually the pokemon that appear in your chain will have better and better stats, so when the shiny eventually appears it might be really good. In my 275+ bell sprout chain, I got some that had 5 best stats and the sixth stat would be very good or fantastic. Also, people are saying that standing in one place may not be the best after all because the pokemon don't necessarily go away when they disappear. Something about RAM, but it's been proposed that if you don't encounter the pokemon around you, they'll reappear until you do, which affects the dice roll. They are now suggesting that you leave the area before coming back to reset the memory for that area, or encounter the pokemon around you so that the game keeps making new ones (even if you run away immediately)

I'm not sure if they'll do DLC of that type for this, but Let's Go has done so well in sales there will probably be sequels. I agree that I love seeing the pokemon appear. Sometimes they do spawn in front of you while you're running but it's not bad. I just love seeing them walking around in almost(?) life size. EEVEE IS SO TINY IT MAKES ME GO 'AWWW'! I agree on the alolan pokemon. Did you know that sometimes they'll randomly give you shiny alolan ones if you trade enough? It's random though and you can't determine their nature, even if you pay the old lady, though. I also wish there was more trainer customization. I like having long hair down AND THEY NEVER OFFER THAT! Also the skin tone is a little off for me...and the hair color. Like, I'm blonde, but sometimes that shade in the game just looks gray to me, and it clashes with the pink of the skin in my opinion. But the brown hair is too brown. I have to just ignore it, sigh. Hopefully the next game will have better customization. On the bright side, in Let's Go Eevee you have at least 9 more clothing options than you would in Let's Go Pikachu. Befriend you eevee enough and you get clothes for each of its evolutions. In Let's Go Pikachu, you only get the pikachu set and when you're friendly enough, a raichu set. That's it. Let's Go Eevee is the superior title for choices. CONGRATS ON THE KAKUNA!

Actually, I'm pretty sure the cap is 31 for IVs as well, at least thats all the info I can find. I found a shiny zubat pretty quickly just standing still, though it wasn't my chase, but I've been told the exiting/entering strat is stronger, I just haven't bothered w chaining in a few days cos finals haha

if it is, that's weird because the ones I've caught, the further up my chain got the better the stats did. But maybe my rerolls just started getting luckier! In any case I'm hopeful for a nice shiny rapidash I can name after The Last Unicorn.

I haven't decided what my final party will be either. I ended up bringing the charmander, bulbasaur, and squirtle I got from the other trainers in the game along the way, plus a rapidash ride pokemon who got to join in the squad. I only actually needed to use my eevee and my mew (I got the pokeball plus) to beat them in the end. Had to revive my eevee like twice but other than that it was a breeze. Of course, my eevee was level 69 when I did the challenge and mew was level 66. Hope that helps you if you want to know around what level you need to be to challenge them. AND OMG SHINY ZUBAT! Why is everyone finding them but me? xD Guess I'm unlucky!

My eevee is lvl 52 right now... I need to lvl up my pokemon more... I didn't get the pokeball plus cause I didn't want to spend the money for it so I guess I'll never complete the pokedex...

My brother just completed his dex and Mew and Meltan are not required for the completion of the dex :) My eevee just hit level 77 while my alolan Raichu is 82 and Nintails is 80 lmao yay for the trades I guess |D They were my elite four squad lol

-- ahh yass I've achieved most of the outfits I think. The only one I missed is the Rocket gear (not blast off-- obtained that already) I'm farming levels rn to battle all the masters of specific pokemon, occasionally going back to gyms too which is a nice twist.

@ xAvarice I am aware mew's not required but the darn empty space in the dex XD plus it's going to be interesting to see how I'm going to get the pokemon evolutions that require trading... What was your Eevee's moveset?

Yeah, Ive also heard the cap is 31, so that is all my sister, and I did. Her caterpie was almost perfect while my chancey was crap. Chancey wasnt my go for chain though so maybe that is the reason :)

I'm really enjoying the game! I beat the elite four and now I'm working on catching Pokemon to get the shiny charm because I haven't had any luck getting any shinies so far.
