When she tells you that you have too much money to do her quests?

I indeed think she counts vault, on hand and shop still. If you have too much to do her quests, you can set up a forum group (make sure that it's set on private!) and deposit all your money in there.

Actually, she doesn't count your shop till! She does count the vault and sP offered on trades though. The forum group method is super helpful. x)

is right. I did Sarah quests during the recent quest-a-thon with more than 500K sp in both new and legacy shops.

Wouldn't it be best that this would be posted somewhere publicly, in the FAQ or rules or something, until it's actually fixed? Because tons of people used that method during the last two questathons...

The December 2016 News had the Forum Group exploit spelled out in it. The Support thread in General has this Forum Group spelled out in it, on the very first post and there is evidence that many users did this. did post in the General thread, four days before it was edited into the first post. Maybe she was following this thread afterwards, maybe not.

Subeta is entitled to change it's Rules all it likes, but if it has condoned this behavior for so long it is not reasonable to do this without Announcement.

I gotta agree with . :X A friend of mine filled a ticket about it for a quest-a-thon some months back and he was given clear permission for using groups to store sP in order to do Sarah's quests, so suddenly going "nope, this is not okay" without any kind of notification is odd.

An announcement would be nice.

@ dill @ bug Also, speaking of, what's the verdict on trading your sP to a friend in order to do Sarah's quests, if the forum group method isn't allowed? That's also a loophole/exploit, even if there's a certain amount of risk involved in it. Asking for the sake of future quest-a-thons. Because it seems silly to include Sarah in the quest-a-thon required questgiver list if you're going to make it impossible for most of Subeta's members to do her quests and help reach the goal.

Sarah's quests are kind of weird to me just in general. I know that there are achievements for completing her quests, but even with new users after doing her quests for only a day you usually end up with too much sP to do them anymore.

So where do we draw the line on loopholes for doing them even just to get the achievements? Should you just constantly spend all of the sP you have every day until you're able to finish? That seems a bit unreasonable.

Yeah I agree. Finding loopholes like the trades is like finding ways to sneak around the rules. None of it should be allowed. But you guys are also right that we were inconsistent about this, and we'll definitely consider that moving forward. I already asked about making an announcement, I'm not really the best person to do that sort of thing so please be patient.

I understand this is sort of sudden and weird, and it's definitely our mistake for allowing it in the past. I'm hoping that we can have better communication from now on, both amongst staff members and between staff and users.

And you are right, it seems silly to include Sarah in quest-a-thons and achievements like that. Maybe that's something you could make a thread in the Suggestions forum about? I am open to hearing what users have to say about that issue and how we could best address it.

@ Bug No problem! As long as the announcement's up and people are given a fair heads-up, it should hopefully all be fine. And I think this is mostly an issue for quest-a-thons anyway? I'll see about making a topic about it in Suggestions later on.

Glad to see this being addressed. Never took advantage of either of the "work arounds" personally, since it felt to me like exploiting a loophole which (I think) has always been against the rules. But certainly could never fault anyone else for doing those things to get the achievements or help out during an event or quest a thon since it was clearly widespread and being done very openly without comment from any staff. It will be good to have it decided and consistent for all going forward.

That people could deposit their sP's in a forum bank to do Sarah's Quests really grated my nerves. I found it to be out and out cheating and was annoyed staffed turned their heads about it during quest a thons. It's not difficult to earn points and it's a heck of a lot of fun to spend them so why 'cheat'? I use quotes since staff didn't seem to mind, but it's really not in the spirit of how the site works. I had it in my mind to do Sarah, strictly for the achievements a little over a year ago. Kept mulling it over and finally just went for it. I left my shop till alone since I was told it didn't count and just emptied my vault of 900 million points. Had a wonderful time at the MC and picked up a few achievements (for spending over an accumulated amount) too. I bought for 750 million and for 150 million, then spent 10 days earning all the achievements Sarah offers. Everyday I'd go over the limit for her so just shot back over to the MC and bought a . Of course about a week later staff announced a Quest A Thon. ARGH! There'll be another Quest A Thon in about 6 months so hoard your points, then go shopping at the MC, think of all the Achievements you'll earn, not to mention another pet slot and some other cool prizes as well!

How about we just make is so everyone can do Sarah's quest, you just don't get any reward if she realizes you already have too much money? That way people who have been here awhile can do them for the achievements and the quest a thons without having to skirt the rules. This way there would be no benefit in doing them if you already have too much.

I don't understand why Sarah can't just work like all the other quests. Then there's no loopholes and everyone is happy =/
