I ask this because for the first time, we may not make the quest goal as we have other months/years.
Is it really that bad?I'm not sure, as this is the first time I've been back in about 3 years or so ( at least consistently.) :(
I think there's a few factors at work:
In the last two years they have I think.

Wow thank s for the information on that! Just out of curiousity, how often do quest-a-thons occur? Is it a monthly thing?
Our normal online user count is 700-900. If those 900 people do all 100 of their quests (150 if they're GA users but lets not assume most people have a GA) that's 90,000 quests a day. 630,000 quests for the seven days we had till the event ends. So it was a high goal to begin with for normal users and on a holiday weekend too.
I wish! The last one was in December 2016, and before that... I think one in 2015? There might've been two in 2016, but I've only participated in the December one (I joined in July)
OH Geeze okay it's not that often haha. I just missed a lot. Wow that's pretty sad in this case. :( from what it looks like we might not finish this goal then?
I've done as many quests as I can but have other things going on too.
I really hope that, as a whole, the Quest-A-Thon is able to be won but...even if it isn't I don't think that means Subeta is dying.
Agreed! I think it was just poorly-timed. Maybe waiting another week would've been better, or after July 4th.
Honestly? I don't think we'll hit it this time. It's unreasonable to expect people to spend money/sp on a GA just for this (if everyone had a GA we'd be over our goal) and it doesn't benefit people to only do the minimum participation of one quest since the other users can't pick up the slack like they can in plot events.
I think it's just bad timing. Or maybe it wasn't advertised enough. Idk since I'm not on social media but maybe those users that suddenly appear for plots and holidays just don't know about it?
I feel that it was bad timing as well. But maybe if the baking contest had ended BEFORE the quest-a-thon, more people would scramble on here to get their submissions in and once that was done, perhaps join in with the questing.
[tot=PiplupMagby34]
Possibly. I personally didn't know about the baking contest until last night when I saw it on the Upcoming box thing on the news page. I don't know how I missed that news post but apparently I did.
Some users learned about the baking contest early but weren't interested because they felt they couldn't compete with someone who is a better artist than them. That's potentially why many users did red herring entries for the Oatmeal's home contest...they knew they couldn't compete.
This whole thing saddens me cause pets are what attracted me to Subeta in the first place. But slots for pets are expensive and there are fewer MC slots than CSC slots. Right now, the only means of getting CSC is either the users shops (expensive), Bathhouse (love it honestly), and contests during holidays (which I seem to always get beat by someone else).
[tot=PiplupMagby34]
I'm in the same boat as you. I just bought some CSC but that is something I've done maybe three times in my 12 years here. And this most recent purchase was made on an emotional whim. I definitely shouldn't have made it. The Bathhouse is a life saver when I'm wanting some little less expensive items from the CS.
And pet slots are $20. It doesn't seem as much when you see it in credits but in real life money terms $20 is quite a bit. So these contests and events are definitely a blessing.
I don't buy CS items really, unless it's angel potions. Maybe next quest-a-thon one of the prizes should be a item that allows you to change the color and species of one pet (seems reasonable since a pet slot is a questing prize). Staff could do that by using both miracle potions and giving them out to every participant in the quest-a-thon.

I mean the way I've been getting my pet slots have all been through the loyalty box. In fact I have a few sitting because I'm not sure what pets I want, and never really was able to work on the pets properly... Which I might at some point.
We were doing pretty good for the first few days, but as it got closer to the weekend we started falling behind. It was a shorter amount of time for the same amount of quests though, and with all of the other factors mentioned things just didn't line up very well for it to work out.
Site activity during events and such has still been pretty high though, so I wouldn't necessarily say that Subeta is dying just because we're not making this goal.
