HEY LOOKIE!!! We did it after all! (Dramatic swoon)
Don't forget friends; everything ends eventually and there's not a thing you can do to change that. :DReally, the site's more active during events. I still contend that if a little newsletter had been sent out about, say, the cake contest and the quest-a-thon, we would've finished a lot sooner than the last day. (Or, if those things had been held off until... after summer actually started up, or whatever, there would be more users checking in.)
It's also the self-imposed slow season for subeta. We need a solid 'happens-every-year' summer thing. Or, keep spacing out those other events. haha. I kind of hate how the events are all one after another EXCEPT in the summer. When EPICon came out, I thought that'd be something tame and simple to hit up every year. Release a few video game/comic book/tcg/tabletop related items, riff on tcgs vs tabletop vs electronics, let us fight the video game enemies, avatar contest... things other users like, I guess? But, nope! Oh well, we get different things, on occasion, and that's fine too.
I think the "bad" timing was actually the point. The Quest-A-Thons are an activity meant to get people coming online when (whether because of the season, or holidays, or general business), the number of people coming online is slipping a bit. It's a minor event, so if we fail, we fail, and if people spend a bit more time online to do the quests, then great. But at the same time, it's not a major event, which might leave people feeling frustrated.
The number of people participating doesn't necessarily reflect whether or not the site might be dying, it's just a promotion to get people to come on site. If you wonder if the site is dying, a better thing to look at would be the average number of people onsite, or participation in the major, seasonal events, like Masquerade, etc. Or watching how many people are trying to buy different CW's that come onsite...

and a dramatic finish and success after all! would you look at that. good job everyone :)
I don't think it is but to be honest Subeta got very boring for me (and I have a busy life). It's always the same even when you leave for a while. I used to love to see new pet colors but those happen very rarely. It was one of the things I looked forward too.
oh god not that horrible vile creature 8| BOO. anyhoo
My favorite events are the random once ever plot events. I wish they were more of a thing (I guess they ARE but the last Merana one wasn't executed very well for me so I didn't really feel invested or involved in it as some of the other stuff subeta has had in the past). I think we have a ton of NPCs which need to be used better aka more frequently. I remember a general positive reaction when subetapedia came out and more lore stuff was added. I think if there were more creative posts (and the Emma / Esther wedding was fab but it was during a regular site event :C) interspersed between regular seasonal events, the site would be more interesting and I'm not talking full out new art, new items, new activities with each new event thing like we had for the spring wedding. .. idk something small would suffice for me. But I do think subeta is trying. I mean we've voted on expansions for Centropolis, that new tea house thing, and that garden place. So we are getting new stuff constantly and I think subeta is doing well for what it is - a pet site - my critique is out of a place of love. ❤️ c:
That one was a bit of a nail-biter. It's strange...over so many years, I feel like Subeta has had such a small amount of user growth. I usually take fairly extended hiatuses these days with everything else going on, but for the first time I feel like I've come back to the least number of new items and features after taking two years off. Wat.
Did you jinx the new-news?! :P

Really though, maybe when we get that new Centropolis map, we can get random food trucks every day/once a week or something, instead of only for random summer event. They're a fun way to put out different items and that'd be a decent way to allow access to the items year round!
