...which team to choose?

I like Blake because he's good-looking, but still down-to-earth. He seems less...elitist than Saggitarius. Blake seems like maybe he's trying to do some good. I like the focus on adventure with Blake. And he did have that last Saheric dig where we made out fairly well. I also feel immediately distrustful of Saggitarius because he seems, well...like he'd be a Republican, if you equate Subeta to American politics, and I detest most Republicans, especially the latest asshat they have running for president.

The thing I'm thinking most about though, is which is the 'good' team and which is the 'bad' team. Last time I chose the Islanders, thinking that Pirates were the usual 'bad' ones, but that was totally wrong and I was pissed. Now I keep thinking, who would be better to the Islanders, Blake or Saggi? Something tells me that would be Blake, but then...maybe his lust for adventure and discovery would ruin him, where Saggi's lust for money/profit would ruin him.

Then there's the completely ridiculous part, where I like the avatar I made for Saggitarius' team better than the one I made for Blake's team, mainly because it's got purple and I love purple. But that's not a reason to choose a team...is it?

I know that I'm really overthinking this, but that's what I do. What are your thoughts on choosing a team and why did you choose the team you did?

I'm choosing Blake because i think his team would be more fun and I hope he would be more environmentally conscience, but who knows.

I choose Blake. I'm an archaeologist, next year I will finish my master in zoo-archaeology, so for me it's really personal and I can't choose Saggi.

why there are not hot archaeologists like Blake X_X

I'm terrible, I haven't even clicked the link at the top of the page/looked at the forums because I was afraid clicking anything would pick my team for me. lol Rationality is not coming easily to me this week. :P Your thought process sounds pretty similar to where I'd be though. Guess now that I know it's safe to investigate I better hurry up and go do that...

Although Blake is the closest thing we have to an archaeologist among the NPCs, I highly doubt that he actually knows what he's doing. He comes off more like a treasure hunter rather than someone with a proper academic interest in Subeta's past. I wasn't around for the Sacred Lands Excavation plot, but the remains of the excavation site are enough to make me uneasy (the trench edges aren't straight, there should be some measures to make sure the sections don't collapse, and I highly doubt Blake even filled in the single context sheet he needed to do).

His cavalier attitude to archaeology kinds puts me off him. I can't condone such shady fieldwork practices. (Although, if Blake's team comes with the possibility of a forum title with "archaeologist" in it, I may be persuaded, because I wants it precious.)

I absolutely can't decide either LOL I love Saggi....but I want to go on an adventure :( I don't think I've ever been so torn picking a team on this website. To be honest it'll probably come down to flipping a coin lol

yes :) I did some excavations, few from the Bronze age in Israel and some prehistoric, focus on animals, in France :) Zoo-archaeology is amazing! I want to continue and do a phD

Yes I see Blake as more fun and commercial archaeologist and he's not really teaching or something, just oh wow this is awesome.. And come on.. He gave us only a shovel to dig with lol

Saggitarius sounds like Scar convincing the hyenas to join him. I don't think he's evil, but I simply find him unpleasant for a long time doing his quest.

I did a bit of zooarch as an undergrad and I did enjoy it, but material culture is my one true love. I'm out the other side of my PhD, so the best of luck to you.

Most commercial work is still pretty serious business. You still have to comply with fieldwork standards and write up all the excavations etc. Somewhere, there's an academic in the archaeology department at The University of Centropolis who's all "When is Blake Steel going to produce that report on the subterranean funerary architecture of Shadowglen?! I need it for this book on ancient Tehb ritual and worldview!"

Plus, all the commercial archaeologists I've known could and would straighten a section edge with a shovel. No excuses.

Speaking of which, last year during "suggest things we don't have yet" month, I suggested a bunch of archaeology tools, so fingers crossed that someone noticed it and we at least get a hand trowel item out of all of this.

I like Blake's concept better; a businessman hiring people out to take over ancient lands sounds wwwwaayyy too much like colonialism to me, I'm worried he'd be really exploitative. But an Indiana Jones-esque adventure sounds like a fun time. I haven't been on Subeta for all that long though so I don't really know anything about their characters either, I'm just going by impressions in the announcements pretty much.

The only thing holding me up is... Blake's announcement emphasizes the danger and "previous experience recommended"... is this one gonna be heavy on battling? because I cannot do battling at aLL, I can't figure it out and I don't have any interest in it...

Unless something in the next update drastically changes my mind, I'm going for Blake. Unless sabotaging Saggi is an option..I've got some dynamite left over from the dig ;D

Plots usually include a bit of everything so there's something to do for everyone. So not battle-heavy, but it will be in there. If this follows more or less the same formula our past plots have, there will be puzzles/problems to solve, running around and talking/doing things, minigames, maybe a very repetitive task like the digging we did for Blake last time he was involved in a plot...there will be plenty to do aside from battling, so don't worry ^^ The previous experience bit is probably a hint that there will be a task similar to a past plot...like the aforementioned digging.

edit: Well, he said no digging...does this mean we get to blow something up then? looks hopeful edit again: Why is it that whenever I say something they do something to contradict what I just said?..sighs At least battle dummies are super easy..just hit them with something.

I chose Blake because we don't need more SP in the economy, and Team Gold has lots of emphasis on being a money faucet. We don't need that.

Adventures are always more rewarding than being pelted with gold all the time, plus Blake has a volleyball Wilson for his battle dummy

I really dislike Blake Steele, and Saggitarius is very handsome. But I'm very tempted by being able to adventure for longer with team Steele, and I didn't like Saggi's initial mention of "securing ancient ruins." And while I don't really need the extra sP all that urgently, I'm very motivated by treasure. I'm also pretty confident that Steele is getting a lot more supporters already, and I'm not sure if that would make it more or less beneficial to join his team, since last time I chose the team I wanted, which happened to be the bigger team, and it bit me in the fucking ass.

So long story short, I'm very torn right now also but my money-grubbing heart wants Saggitarius

i had the same dilemma as but i just realized i won't have that much time anyway, since my semester started last week -- so any advantage blake's team gives is probably irrelevant for me since i can't afford to be messing about during class this time p: i guess i'll sit on it for a bit longer anyhow, 'cause i hate making decisions like this, hah

I went went Team Blake because we've already have been through so many adventures together. Plus, Saggi's message kind of rubbed me the wrong way. I can't really explain why.

I'm also unsure. I wanted to go with team blake steele at first, but not knowing the full dynamics of how each team will work I'm unsure. Not sure where people are getting the info about being paid more or being able to explore longer? Do you have to pick a team first to access that info? I'm still hesitant if there's more beyond that, like if battling is involved, if there are harder opponents for a certain team or something?

after you battle their dummies, both saggi and blake will have join / not sure buttons (i'm guessing you have to battle each? i didn't think to check before i fought both). blake's says "Apply for Team Steele/Blake Is Best/Name Pending. Team Steele can adventure for longer/energy and supplies run out slower" while saggi's says "Apply for Team Gold. Team Gold pays out sP more frequently / and in higher amounts." (if you click wait, blake says "No prob, buddy! See you soon." and saggi says "Ah yes, have fun. I believe they pay in fast food vouchers.")

So, still unsure. I dislike Blake but plot-wise his bonus seems to be much more favorable. More sP is nice but how would it help in the plot? The extra sP can't be too significant, unless it's actually in-plot currency to pay supplies.

We have too little information at the moment to decide objectively.
