Anyways, something that bothers me a lot is that in the old wardrobe we could use base features (eyes, nose, mouth) and it would stay UNDER the zombie/experiment/any skin, and now we can only put it over, since the skin is attached to the base layer. I think it would be wonderful if we could see a "skin" layer, specially for skins that doesn't cover the whole HA (lovebug, freckle fever, barnankles, experiment 2285 etc). This would allow us to use base features without it looking super awkward and create nice combos with wearable items. And honestly at this point we have layerable face features, doesn't makes sense to not have the same ability with skins.

Maybe the viruses could be bound to the HA base until they&;re done progressing (to give the classic zombie experience), and then split off into a separate layer once they&;re fully unlocked?

utility/usability =/= fashion. and even if it did, you can (and should) have both form and function. if the artists didn&;t want to the zombie strains to be fashionable they wouldn&;t have made Doom Bloom look the way it does, etc. also this isn&;t even just about zombie skins. it&;s also about skins you can get from achievements and the zapper, none of which are disease/virus related. what&;s the point of a skin like Dream Rhino if you have to cover up the horn, the thing that makes it what it is, to make it work? i could go on.

Now, I'm assuming this is possible code-wise, if it's not just ignore me.

list of skins that would get a SEVERE performance improvement from this suggestion alphabetic order

  1. Barnankles
  2. Bindi Bite
  3. Bulbous
  4. Creeping
  5. Dream Rhino
  6. Experiment 0101
  7. Experiment 164
  8. Experiment 2285
  9. Experiment 333
  10. Experiment 893
  11. Eyebawls
  12. Fish Tank
  13. Freckle Fever
  14. Lobster Face
  15. Lotus
  16. Love Bug
  17. Naughty Nip
  18. Sticky
  19. Stinging

I feel like if we get the partial skin items eventually this won't be necessary, but this has my support. Especially if I could layer something like freckle fever over Galactic or one of the other zapper skins.

Of course then we got to start layering things under the HA base, and that was one of the best things to happen to the wardrobe in recent years.

Now we have barnankles, and it's begging to be layered over more than just the HA base. Several other skins would be good for this too (bindi bite, all of 2014's viruses, etc.)

Maybe the viruses could be bound to the HA base until they're done progressing (to give the classic zombie experience), and then split off into a separate layer once they're fully unlocked?

Yes please. The potential of most of the partial skins feels wasted by not being able to layer anything between them and the base. I'd like to use the dream rhino zapper skin more often, but without being able to layer hair between that and the normal base, you either have to go bald or be covering the the horn :(

Besides the partial bases, this could also get more use out of some of the full bases. It would be cool to be able to use skins like lovebug, freckle fever, darkmatter, etc layered behind a normal base to just take advantage of their auras.

I support this and I remember a time in which skins WERE actually layered on top of the human base, if I recall correctly that was the only way to do it back then...? Back in the day I used to be a blistered hearts zombie and the deer zapper skin at the same time.

If the skins were made into separate layers some of them would definitely be more usable. Though I'm not sure if staff cares about usability after seeing the final stages of this year's strains 😂

Zombies have never been fashionable.

I don't support the idea of disease=fashion. If you're gonna be unliving and proud of it, then be that. If not, take the cure. I've seen support from staff that suggests they like the idea of steps of the infection being wearable. I do not like this. It was a huge deal that people who used tons of CSC got those wearable partial-infection tinctures from collecting all the bobbleheads.

Support, if it's possible! I wanted to go for Barnankles next, BECAUSE I thought it would be cool to layer. >:C

I love seeing people using the skins in unique ways. Who cares if it's lore-friendly? The alternative is something never gets worn because it's unusable on a technical level, and that's just no fun at all.

like that's why i gave doom bloom that big ass collar i want people to work that ok

I like and support this. The times of zombies being oh so special are over anyways so the not fashionable thing is outdated, too imo. If people want to layer their skins then just let them.

The early strains were definitely easier to use though? They were crafted more like the human avatar base with little to no parts sticking out. You could actually put clothes on and be a zombie at the same time. What's the point of making more and more skins if the goal isn't to get people to use them? It's sad if it's just another collecting gimmick and nothing more.

Exactly.

I don't know what being fashionable has to do with basic usability. People should be able to use whatever skin they want while still dressing themselves as they would any other time.

Sighs I would love this. I miss when we could have a zapper and zombie skin at the same time, it looked awesome. I hope it's doable !

So much support. We desperately need this, especially if it would let us layer different skins together the way we could before. I'm still kind of miffed I lost my Butterfly Bruise + zapper skin combo I planned to keep for years.

Why are people so hung up on fashion? That's not the point. Zombie skins are getting worse and worse to actually use. They might as well not even be HA bases at this point since so much of the lineart is just gone. A lot of effort used to be put into keeping them as close to the base as possible, but after this year that's obviously not a thing anymore. Bright Bite and Blood Rush look like they don't even have a single line from the original base left in the final stage.

Times have changed. Having a zombie skin is no longer a "punishment" you need to suffer through and they no longer provide any real benefits either. Skins can be changed at will, any time you want. If artists are going to keep making zombie skins we should at least be able to use them, otherwise what's the point?

While I am not sure I would use this, I do support it. The idea that it should not be allowed because of 'lore' or 'it is your skin which you cannot move'... well, those just aren't good excuses anymore. Not when I can wear six different eyes layered on one another, several different wigs, or even different noses and lips. If it is possible to do this in the wardrobe (which I assume it would be), then might as well. It would help make some of the skins more usable.

Also, I am very sad so many of the zombies do not stick to the base shape. ;A; They are lovely, but I prefer clothed zombies to naked ones. Le sigh.

This would be great with some of the more protrusion-heavy skins. Barnankles, especially, will only ever reach a small portion of its potential if it never becomes layerable.

I really really want this especially for the new tentacle fungus looking skin. It would be so awesome to layer it, but we can't which makes it hard to do much with.

Yes please - that would make those zombie skins that only cover part of the HA (like barnankles), a lot easier to use - especially now we can move the noses and eyes independently of the base skin, the old reasoning of "it's your skin, you can't move it" is invalid anyway ;)

We can layer eyes, nose and mouth, so layering skin should be possible. Could always work as a sP sink.
