Anyone here play neopets?

I'm really fed up with it today. The lag is so bad on the site and you can't get anything done.

There's this charity event going on but it's hard to get all the items or you end up spending way too much NP on the items you need.

I'm so close to just quitting it all together. I will be on there for 14 years in a few days.

I've still been going on but I'm only on for 10 min tops. It's sad. I used to enjoy it. It's gotten very kiddish.

I played waaaay back before they sold the company to viacom... i guess viacom sold it to someone else now? It is super laggy... I recently made a new account, and try to play when I am bored but the lag is a total turn off.

The lag over there has finally cleared up for the most part, at least for me. It's still got it's ups and downs.

I really only go on there to Zap a pet, maybe play some games because I like them, or to keep up with any events and things going on. Hopefully JumpStart will do a much better job with it than Viacom ever did.

I've been on the site on-and-off, and enjoyed it, although that lag recently has been pretty off-putting... Hope that those guys can fix it soon.

Oh man, i used to love Neopets so dearly (2004-2007), but it just got ruined for me after the v2.0 conversion, since i basically lost all my dreamneopets. It was rly badly handled. I was pretty active on the german neoboards (back then there was still off topic stuff on them, while after 2.0 the fanclub board was just about connections and ppl looking for commissions), nowadays theyre just dead kinda. While i own some nice neopets (an UC for example) i always tried to motivate myself to play again, but idk, i think neopets is unfixable for me

On other note the 2.0 conversion brought me to subeta back then, since subeta has and still has awesome pets designs.

I started pl;aying that site when it first started. Played for 11 years (or so) then the Idot bots who determine if you are cheating at flash games decided to ban me because I would only ever play one game just to get on the high score table for the month. & aperently the 24K or whatever youd get for top spot was my $$$ maker. I dont know how much I lost in my vault, stocks & everything else. Not to mention one of my pets who I had from day one. I tried going back there on one of my backup accounts, only to realise I dont remember my password. Lost about another 100mil pure + countless paintbrushes & SOSes.

A huge chunk of what remained of the original TNT just got laid off, according to JN. Premium members seem to be dropping like flies, and with the rest of the userbase fed up, the NC Mall is floundering. (Though I doubt anyone was ever enthusiastic about the mall aside from the devoted NC traders)

Point being, the site doesn't have the money to sustain its employees, so most of the remaining originals got axed. Their revenue sources are continuing to plummet due to unsatisfied premium members and grief over NC being shoved in user's faces while other components of the site wither from lag and neglect. I'm not going to be the one that declares doom is nigh for Neopets, but I'm not optimistic about its future.

I really couldn't see them doing well with the way they were running things, so I jumped ship yesterday. When I hopped online today to finish cleaning my account up, I was... Well, I can't say that I was surprised that it happened, but I didn't think it would be so soon. o.o

I know that Subeta's gone through hard times too, but I always felt like there was stronger leadership and a clearer vision here. I'd MUCH rather throw my money and spare time in with this team.

:o That's exactly why I started up here too! I got super bored when I had no chance of getting the pets I wanted, so I hopped over here. I still use Neopets, but it was just... not something I could really get into after the change.

Wow.. I used to be an avid player, then I got bored with it and I think someone hacked into my account. So just the other day I re-joined with new account for nostalgia, and lo and behold they just laid TNT off.

Take screenshots of anything you want saved - I just went and screenshotted my Neopian Times article and one of my pet sites that I made.

I can't believe what's happened to the site.

i must say i wasn't surprised most of TNT got laid off. the site is not really thriving. as a lot of other users, i usually went online to do dailies just to get some worthless items and complaining on neoboard. new contents are always too much NC-centered, rather than providing something that users enjoy. users can get silenced or frozen just for petty offense, sometimes it looks like they are hunting to shun people. i am not surprised if the site shutdown soon.

i'm glad that i join subeta when i did, although i regret not joining far sooner :) artworks are great, contents are fun, and staff are very helpful and always improving the site :)

It's sad, That site was awesome when I was younger. I made an new account in the beginning of the year and it just seemed...different, also my support ticket I put in the 3 of the year is still open. I figured it was dying out, so I really didn't stick around, but it's still sad to see it will probably go for good soon.

I was expecting something like this, considering how bad the site was lately but it's really really sad to see a huge part of my life going down like this.. I know it's "just a pets site" , but I've been playing for over 8 years and that's a lot of my adult life 😞 I'm really gonna miss my pets, I wish I could hug them and say goodbye ç___ç

I go through Subeta phases and Neopets phases. Neo is definitely more pet-focused for me whereas in Subeta you're able to have a lot of interests. I love them both for different reasons.

I don't think Jumpstart would buy Neo if it was dying down and not at least have a long-term plan for it. I mean, they have an app coming out and everything.. I realize I might be very naive in saying this but maybe the lay-offs aren't necessarily a bad thing. Maybe a fresh start with a new team that can direct the website in a better path is just what it needs. The main things that annoy everyone about Neo (strict rules, filtering, lack of updated site features, etc) haven't changed in the hands of the past 2 companies and maybe this was happening because of staff wanting to hold on to an idea that was maybe viable 15 years ago. I'm by no means saying I'm happy those people were laid off, but maybe it'll do good for the site on the long run.

I started on Neopets almost 10 years ago but since they sold it to Viacom I've been on and off from there and moved to Subeta, and the past few months have been incredibly bad for Neopets the site was almost always off or very laggy, it's such a bad news that after all these years the staff has been laid off but I guess it was inevitable. :(
