I will not lie, I found the tightly sanitized land of Neoboards breaking into chaos after ... what, thirteen years? quite amusing.

Man, I was there yesterday. The boards were crazy and I almost hate to say that I enjoyed that. I hadn't seen the site this brimming with activity since back when I joined in '07. (It only took a year or so for the activity to die down. I used to be a german regular, but the forums have been deserted for years now.)

I joined some nice talk about LGBT yesterday and hope that should I check back, my account is buried in antarctica. It's probably just not an environment for me anymore, since I'd actually like to talk to people beyond "whats ur favourite pet color???". I get why it's there, but I can't really tolerate it anymore.

It's incredibly easy to cheat and as long as you're not actually screaming from the rooftops about what you're doing, you will not get punished in any way, shape or form. For most sane people it's also the only reasonable way to make any NP, unless they can compete with the bots while RSing.

Plots used to be pretty sweet, but it seems like the events boiled down to "Drop some cash at the NC mall and you can actually have some fun and rewards that aren't monumentally useless!" which is pretty gross.

okay but the neoboards exploding with filth was amazing. there was some dark shit, but i actually had a decent conversation with ppl about sexuality. everyone was queer and kinky and it was lovely.

the two things i care abt on neopets: the memories + the games. otherwise, whatever it's become recently i just cannot deal with. sadly i think this progression was inevitable (the creators having limited financial knowledge, and handing over most of the executive decision making power to investors + having children as the target demographic + really being pioneers of the pet site genre = messy) but at least websites like subeta have learned what not to do bc of this.

I currently play. The only thing that's keeping me there is Food Club and my new dreamie. I can't stand it anymore. I have no idea if I want to spend money on NC there or possibly spend time money on this site.

I am bored with neo after returning to subeta. I was only there to chat on the newbie boards with all the regs. Quite a few of them have left anyway. And what happened a few days ago was a disaster. I saw way too many aged accounts on the verge of getting iced for posting porn and slurs. Meh.

It is the nostalgia that keeps me there, but here is better.

I'm torn between the two sites right now. I am on Neo more because I have a lot there and a lot of friends. All of my characters and art are really involved there. A roleplaying guild and very active neofriends are the main reason.

But here it's a lot easier to make money and to get good pets. (or at least I think good pets - since the zapper is so nice and usable so often, restocking is easier, and so many cool names are untaken, plus the option to re-use inactive names...)
