I didn't see it here already, so I figured I'd put up a topic. Curious what people think of it so far!

I play a male Dalish ice-Fade mage, romancing Dorian and besties with Sera. c:

I'm not sure, seeing as I don't really bother playing multiplayer but I'm sure if you search the net you might find your answer. I'm sorry I couldn't help more but I hope you find the answer to your question. :)

From what I heard the multi-player isn't that great, but there is a multi-player option. But in my opinion it's a pretty fun game to watch, and it might be fun to make decisions together about gameplay.

Just be warned that you can't have multiple games going at once. For whatever reason it deletes your old save files when you start a new game so you can only have one going at once.

I lurve Iron Bull. He's always in my party unless I have to do companion quests where I have another tank. Dorian's the only one who is in my team no matter what. xD I just love his sassy banter.

I always have Iron Bull in my party along with Dorian as well and top it off with either Blackwall or Cole. Their convos are amusing to listen to.

I saw this earlier, but I was waiting to post until I'd actually played some I'm in love with this game. (Which I figured I would be since I loved the other two games too). XD I made a female dailish elf mage (she's mostly focused in spirit and ice right now, but I'm respecing after I get my specialization, which should be any time now).

I am so in love with this game. They did a phenomenal job. I am only about a quarter of the way through and I have played for 50 hours. The massive amount of content, the intriguing story line, the beautiful soundtrack, and the romances are amazing. They knocked it out of the park with this one. I am a female dailish elf warrior. I just finished the personal quest to romance Josephine and have turned down Solas and Blackwall.

I was so relieved when I found out that this thread exists because I nearly couldn't believe my eyes when I didn't find any mention of Dragon Age until scrolling a little.

I'm so in love with this game, which didn't really come as a surprise since the first two games were totally my jam as well and the universe and lore and everything is so intriguing I've managed to spend +120 hours on my second playthrough just trying to collect every single codex I can find... I'm a bit meh about how they handled certain things and ignored their own canon, but overall I am so pleased with the outcome.

My first Inquisitor was a surface dwarf warrior lady (my tiny garden gnome who could take down a dragon hehe), and now I'm super in love with dwarves and considering replaying Origins with one of the dorf origins since I haven't done that yet. I romanced Josie with her and oh Maker her romance is the actual dearest, I recommend 150%.

, our inquisitors sound like they could get super well along, my second quisitor is a dalish mage dude who specializes in ice spells and rift magic as well, and has romanced Dorian. :')

I've been staring at your forumset for a good five minutes now, why must this noodlehead be this ridiculously attractive.

Does anyone else have the banter bug? I get banter like every once in 40 minutes and apparently everyone should be chatty as hell so idk if it's still fixed, but it used to be even rarer. q__q

if you still need multiplayer info, here's a handy site! I haven't tried the MP yet but tbh even the single player mode is definitely a bonding experience. :')

Hello! I always play as a male character in these games, male mage elf when I can. xD It was sooo hard breaking away and using archery for one of my playthroughs.

But omg I have so many headcanons for this game. I should totally write some of them down. Dorian thooo.

And, yeah. A lot of people are kind of grumpy with some of the things they did with messing with the lore. But hopefully from this point on they'll get it together a bit more. c: I think they tried to think of this game too much in a context that people picking it up wouldn't have played the other games, but it's kind of hard to understand some things if you haven't played Origins or 2.

I usually go first for fem!PC (except with DA2 for some reason), and then counter it with a male!PC for a second playthrough. Male mage elf sounds seriously adorable though, I take it your warden/s is either Mahariel or Surana then? But yeah it's really difficult having to break from a pattern - I try my best choosing different reactions and routes when it comes to playthroughs yet somehow I still end up making very similar decisions first time playing a new character...

Oh man I LOVE talking headcanons and probably have way too many concerning Dragon Age, headcanons are the reasons I breathe so please, do share. O u O I haven't quite finished my second playthrough yet so I'm only halfway through Dorian's romance but it's already shattering my heart into million little pieces and then promptly fixing it again with the sheer amount of preciousness, he deserves only the best and then some.

about the dalish I am so not liking what they've done to vilify the Dalish and going for the 'lol humans were innocent all this time and the elves can only blame themselves'-exuse. Not cool man, not cool.

That, and how the Dalish circle elf in Haven (Minaeve?) tells you the sobstory of how the Dalish abandoned her for being a mage, yet all this time we've been told that the Dalish cherish all the magic and because less and less mages are born into clans, those who have more are usually sent to other clans as Firsts. That just counters everything Merrill has ever told us, and is overall just really crappy eh.

Apart from that, I really enjoy the lore, especially now that the deities are given more attention. I may or may not have a few theories about... things and stuff.

And yep I agree, playing through the first two games definitely helps to understand what's going on, as well as reading The Masked Empire and Asunder. Although I guess those two merely expand on the storyline of certain characters instead of the main plot?

Mahariel, transformation mage. I think that was one of the options, I can't remember it was foreeeever ago. xD

Mine are really wrapped in the character. I have an entire backstory for him, as well as what happens after Inquisition.

headcanons One is that my Dalish boy, his name's Aylen to make it easier, is proficient with a bow as well as magic. It doesn't make much sense to me why a group that's discriminated against would be like "Let's go trade with humans" and not be armed. But they obviously can't walk around with a staff where Templars might be. So I had this idea that Aylen can use both a bow and a staff, and carves the runes from trap spells into his arrows.

For some reason I can't think of them all. xD But I also had the idea that he wasn't a Lavellan, but a Sabrae (the clan Merrill's from) and ended up being sent North to Lavellan by his mother. Then right before the events in Inquisition, and a few years after, he joins a group in Kirkwall who are protecting the locals from bandits and slavers as they rebuild. The group also has Fenris and possibly Varric, but he did it to hide from all his fame and because he made friends with them. And after Dorian goes back to Tevinter to 'fix' his homeland he just doesn't really have anything else to do.

I also like to think that there are more than one 'Well', or maybe one for each main Elvhen god, maybe one for Fen'Harel even.

And this makes me think cute happy things about Aylen getting ear rubs and how adorable that would be. Even though that's Fenris. They actually look alike sometimes. xD

Dalish Yeah, that was also really weird to me. But I thought it was interesting when they spoke about how the elves kept each other as slaves in their society. So I guess humans were the catalyst for extinction for Ancient Elves? In a way it kinnnd of makes sense, just because how would these ancient beings, who are obviously super powerful, be brought down by humans unless there was something else underneath it all screwing things over. But idk.

Oh, yeah. I loooove the theories that some people are coming up with. Especially in conjunction to the epilogue.

I haven't gotten the chance to read the books but I want to sooo bad. I've been wanting to buy them, and I think they'll be the first thing I get when I have enough money.

One thing I'm not sure on, though, is the next game. Like do I want to be the Inquisitor again, like in Mass Effect where you're the same lead over and over? Or do I want you to give me another lead character. Like...I looove my Quisie, but I kinda want to do something wild and crazy, too.

From what I've heard either dialogue or music is supposed to fire every 15 minutes. There's a way to get around it, which is to fast travel using the war table. The only thing about this method is that you can only fast travel to the original camp if you do this.

I've experienced certain playthroughs are more bugged than others, too. My first playthrough I had almost no banter, my more recent ones I have more and I even get music going sometimes. I don't think its been fully fixed yet, though. c:

At this point people suspect modders will fix it before Bioware, if you play on PC.

Sorry my reply took so long, I've been... playing Inquisition and doodling my Hawke, oops. (And trying to work on his pet profile while I'm it, but I've only managed to /delete/ content instead of adding it... e__e )

headcanons Aylen sounds like such a sweetheart oh no ❤️. And yeah I agree, I can't see the Dalish being too trusting with humans either, they'd definitely have weapon training. Jonquil carries a dagger with him, but much favors his magic when he can use it as it feels less violent and he doesn't actually have to get close range. It's a last option thing, and he would rather flee if there's a chance than actually end up using it.

Jonquil absolutely loathes wearing shoes and ditches them every chance he gets, but after losing a toe or few to severe frostbite he stops messing around when they're higher up on the mountains / Emprise du Lion. He's also got super wonky teeth and is very self-conscious about it, so he mumbles a lot and tries to cover his mouth when he speaks. He's not the best catching sarcastic remarks, which often leads to misunderstandings and confusion on his part and chuckling on the other.

This is my first time playing a Dalish, so the new perspective is super refreshing. My main warden-commander is a Tabris who got her dreams crushed by Zathrian's clan when instead of accepting her with open arms, they threw slurs at her just like the humans in Denerim. So she's quite... bitter towards them, and incredibly cautious. (She and Jonquil don't exactly get along either, because they don't really see eye to eye. )

I've been also entertaining ideas of Quil not being originally from clan Lavellan, but from clan Virhnen (same as Mihris, the Dalish elf you can encounter in the Hinterlands/The Masked Empire), but it's mostly at mere idea level at the moment, and might change once I actually finish his playthrough.

I've been preparing for the Mythal quest by doing ... every single other quest there is and I just ran out of things to do so I guess I'll have to go there soon lmao. And yeah I totally agree on the multiple temples/wells idea! There's one for Dirthamen near Val Chevin at least, so it seems like there should be temples for the others as well. I can't remember if the ruins in Dead Hand are dedicated to anyone? Mythal was murdered and I think Abelas mentions the well is a reminder of that / what was lost, but I'd definitely like to see more similar artifacts for the other elven gods.

AND YES YES EAR RUBS AND moving/twitching ears and ears showing someone's emotion or how they react is my favorite thing aahh.

I have so many HCs for all my characters and NPCs and theories but this is already getting a bit lengthy so I'll just stop now.

What platforms do you play on? I'm a cheapskate so I can currently only play on PS3. I used to get more banter when I cleared out all the finished quests from the quest journal (by wiping out the little diamond indicating new entries), which has given me a slightly more regular banter rate, but now it seems to have gone back to really rare even if I fast travel using the war table. /: I usually get some banter after finishing a hostile fight and then there might be another one soon afterwards, but then everything goes back to silent. e__e The devs better release the banter fix patch soon.

[edit] I had another theory here but I maxed out on character limit

It's okay! And that's cuuute. ;o; I wanna work on pet profiles but I'm sooo bad at it. Haha. I have Dorian Pavus, too, so I should do that. >>; And I should put Aylen's stuff somewhere but I haven't. Bleck.

stoof Jonquil sounds so adorable. ;o; And thank you. Aylen's my baby right now, but I have no idea what I would do with his character outside of my head. I haven't really found any thing to do, but it doesn't stop me from thinking cute things for him. xD

Unf. I need to read those books.

I'm excited to see what they do with the next games, or even expansions for this one. There's always at least two dlcs for these games and I'm super stoked. It might be with Solas as the main character, which would be weird as well.

I'm talking in circles now because idk what to say. xD I'm so good at life.

I always forget there's a max character limit. xD

I love working on TCs (I just created Dalish so I've been super hyped for gathering a TC for him (I think I'll somehow include Quil's story in as well, between more general Dalish stuff). My fakehawke's profile is the closest to being finished, but I'm super self-conscious about actually adding any writing since I'm not a native English speaker... bleghhg. And eyy I think I actually visited your Dorian's profile a few days ago, I was checking for free names :')

more theory stuff because I'm a horrible nerd

theories on gods, spoilers I've been reading through the codex and compiling information on the elven pantheon, the astrariums and the old gods, trying to see any similarities. It's not really a new thing and I think there's been theories about it ever since we learned Flemeth can turn into a dragon, but I found it incredibly curious and thought I'd look more into it.

Here's the information we've been given:

  • There's a total of 9 elven gods, not counting 'the malevolent subset' The Forgotten Ones. One of the gods is Fen'Harel, who is said to have been different. Ghilan'nain the mother of halla used to be an elf before Andruil elevated her to godhood, thus making the amount of 'full' gods 7. There are also 7 old gods. Neither are considered creators of the world itself, even though the elven gods are said to have both the power of creation and destruction. (Elgar'nan and Mythal recreate the world after the Sun destroys it, Ghilan'nain creates different creatures etc, but they're all either born from Elgar'nan and Mythal, or the land and the sky - aka they existed before them.

The old gods are physically locked underground, while their minds are in the Fade. We don't know where the elven gods are physically, but their minds are in the spirit world/Beyond/Fade, 'locked away in the Eternal City'.

Flemeth holds a part of Mythal in her. She can turn into a dragon. The old gods were depicted as dragons. Solas is extremely against the wardens for trying to kill the old gods, and doesn't think they understand what they're doing.

Following this train of thought kind of suggests that Solas/Fen'Harel would also be the Maker though since Fen'Harel locked the elven gods away and the Maker locked the old gods away, but I'm not really sure if I want to buy that. I haven't romanced Solas yet so a lot of the stuff he says isn't available for me yet, but ... it's interesting.

on red lyrium This isn't exactly any theory, but I've been thinking about Red Lyrium and its connection to dwarves and the Fade, and it's so endlessly curious but also confusing because there's so little information we've been given on dwarves.

What we're told:

  • the blight causes lyrium to turn into red lyrium (aka lyrium is 'alive', since the taint only affects living organisms)
  • there is 'raw' lyrium in the Fade
  • only dwarves and the Tranquil can do runecraft/enchantments since it requires raw lyrium. The dwarves and Tranquil are known for their severed connection to he Fade.
  • the dwarves hear the Stone 'sing'. Justice and Cole both hear the lyrium song, and I think mages in general hear it, when they're near lyrium but I can't remember whether or not it's been confirmed? The templars hear the sing of the lyrium when they've been using for too long.
  • The wardens and darkspawn hear the sing of the Archdemon when they're due their calling.

Yet, the lyrium idol from DA2 was found in Primeval Thaig, a thaig so old it was sealed long before the first blight. Where did the red lyrium come from??

Solas refers to Varric and Cadash as 'the severed arm of a once mighty hero, lying in a pool of blood' in banter. When Dagna studies lyrium, she mentions that she feels incredibly tall, and like her thoughts were everyone's thoughts, some kind of a hive mind. Cole/Varric banter mentions something about the dwarves being 'sundered'.

In the fade, near a red lyrium deposit (there is blight in the fade??) is a codex entry called 'whispers written in red lyrium'

Quote

We are here
We have waited
We have slept
We are sundered
We are crippled
We are polluted
We endure
We wait
We have found the dreams again
We will awaken

There's also this codex entry that sounds very similar to the one in the Fade. Dwarves gaining back their dreams, 'feasting upon the gods'. The way they're written also reminds me of the rhyme Hespith keeps repeating before you fight the broodmother, so it sounds very dwarven.

I don't really know what to make of all this, but dang I am super interested to know more. Also as a footnote, it's curious how meticulous the dwarves are with recording memories, yet still there's the Primeval Thaid and Kal-Sharok that have both gone totally under their radar. (although it's suggested that they shapers were aware of what went down in Kal-Sharok even if they recorded a very different story. )

.. .. oops sorry for nerding out and babbling entirely way too much, the lore is just so endlessly intriguing Q__Q
