So yes. Critique, comment, share interest?
I think especially the first one is very cute! Could you maybe show them on a ha base with face included? Its much easier to give feedback if you see in which way they are covering the face. =3
Thanks! Oh gosh, I'm not sure why I didn't think of posting that. I even worked with a base with eyes to make sure they looked good. |D I updated the first post with normal size previews with faces.
Well.. style and quality on the first wig are very good. Pretty good chances to get something like this accepted! I just somehow have the feeling the forehead is a little too small.. i think the hairline of the bangs should be maybe a little higher? (the head looks kinda squished like that xD) Or maybe try a pair of eyes with lower eyebrows? Maybe they make it look weird..
The second wig looks a little flat and heavy somehow.. I'd add some fuzzy hairs sticking out and more shading to give shape.
Hmm...I think you're right. The hairline should definitely be higher, especially considering the bangs are supposed to be fairly short. How does this look in comparison:
OLD <---> NEW

Much better!! =)
Thanks!
Just finished up some work on the other one a bit ago. c:
OLD <---> NEW

And also a couple of sketches for wigs that might come in other colors?

Also much better! =D On your sketches the right one is very interesting! I don't think i've seen anything similar till now! =D
Hiya! So I'ma here to drop my opinion c:
As far as lining goes so far your unnamed one looks great! I really like the variation in line thickness as well as a general guidline of where the hair is going. As I mentioned before, if you colour these lines with the colour you instead to shade with, it'd look really cool :D same goes for Bashful Hat-Head Wig! Maybe if you make the lineart colour a little less dark on this one, it'd look a lot more like painting. Just a thought!
The Ginger paint..I love it omg. If I get some CW I'd love to get that eheh
for the Misplaced red extension, I really like the colour, but I think maybe the shading is a bit too intense? Maybe that's supposed to be like that, I'm not sure ahaha the shine also seems kinda minimal, restricted to that lone streak. It might be personal preference, but it makes it look a bit like plastic, but it still look good! It's very vibrant and eye catching, which i really like.
the Hair covered candy stick has a lot of the same commentary as for the misplaced red extension, but I still really like this one too! the colours are great ahaha one thing I might say about these two though, is I notice that the shine seems to be a lighter colour than the base colour? This looks good too, but this also makes it look kinda plastic. You could maybe experiment with the shines by using a cream colour overlay ontop of your base colour, it'll give you the same kind of affect of a red shine on brown hair. Hair has a lot of different hues, and I think maybe for your candy hair, experimenting with purplish shading yellowish/orange shine can help give it a bit of a fluorescent/iridescent look to it!
As for the frumpy striped bob...I love it! It's totally soft looking and I ADORE the gradient between the grey to the dark beige, its perfect! Maybe some work on the way you paint the shine can help make it a bit more soft looking.
Overall, these are all really professionalism looking and great!
The first, green one looks great! So soft and fluffy! Great outlines! =D
WAHHHH GOOD CRITIQUE YESSSSS. I always love detailed critique.
Funny enough, the 'lines' on the green one are actually just the sketch lines over color. They're neat enough to be used as real lines though. Cutting corners, yes? I started coloring, but I've hit a road block. I just can't pinpoint why it looks wrong. It looks okay at full size, but the site-size looks wrong. : I also want to work in some more hues, but I'm not really sure what would work with the color. Color theory is not my strong suit.

And apparently I colored out of the lines at some point. IDK.
Mayhaps we can arrange a trade later on for my paint and your wig? I won't steal one out of a first batch, but maybe later?
I'm not really sure why all the coloring looks plastic-y on all of my wigs. I've been trying to work on it, but I can't get it to look right. I apparently can't color hair as well as I thought. I'm definitely going to try some of your tips and see how they look though!
I'm glad you liked my critique! also, as far as the painting of your green wig, I think it may be because you are using too much detail in the shading? I know it might not look like so when its large, but things will look a lot more cluttered when you shrink things down. Another tip: try not to use too much opacity pressure brushes when shadings things this small, maybe stick to blocking colours, that's what I do. I dunno if you saw on my longhawks wips, but they had a large pallet next to them. I use a lot of colours but refrain from using opacity! Another thing maybe is toning down the contrast between the base colour and your shading colour. Your base colour might work well if you use it strictly for shine (in which case I might suggest making the shine more lemon-green/lime green instead of forest/evergreen) and in which use it sparingly.
also I'd love to to trade a wig for some paint! :D
and I think to avoid the plasticy thing, a good move would be to try and blend the shine more with the rest of the hair?
could I possibly make you a little pallet to show you what I mean for your green wig?
@ Drasisicgon
Blah stuck on details againnnn. I'm very used to working on canvases that run about 3000-5000px on the shortest side, so detail is kind of a given.
I was wondering how you got that lovely look on your longhawks! I really shouldn't be using opacity at all, honestly. Subeta is ALLLL about cel shading. Definitely not my forte.
And I would love a pallette! I tried working out one based on your latest comment and coloring a bit of the wig, but I'm not sure how much I like the colors? They're not what I started with, but they do at least look better.

Awesome! I can save you a slot on the next open batch I have for the paint. c: It won't be long. the first batch isn't even approved and I already have a waiting list for a third batch.
ooh I really like those colours this time! Lots of variety in them! Its great! The pallet I was gonna make for you was very similar!
edit: I can still make you pallet, I am just super tired cause it is 4:40 am and I need to hit the sack ahaha SORRY
Oh good! Haha. I just took one color, inched down on the darkness, and then jumped around the color wheel. Or something like that. Does the shading look a bit better as well?
yes! And also the colour wheel method is great, thats what I do ahaha the shading looks fab too! I think you can lighten the lineart colour just a weee bit, to be only a wee bit darker than the darkest shade you are using, this will make it look more like it's painting
Hoooly cow my hand hurts but I think I've got it!

I'm feeling really happy with it, and I've come up with a tentative name: Electric Rainforest Locks. I think it's fitting based on the color and my original (and long since abandoned) inspiration.
And to get a little more exposure for critique~
The lines look really thin since you colored it in and the lineart looks colored as well...not black. I can't tell that well since my eyes suck lol.
