My first hair attempt to feel free to crit me till I die >< I'm mainly concenerd about the position of the braid around the shoulder area and the hairline is bugging me.. The "head" part is done.. the braid still needs shading ^^

any comments loved!

Hm, I think that maybe a few loose strands around the hairline might give it a more hair like appearance. Also rate near the bottom were it curves looks kind of unnatural. I think it should just be a little more strait. Although I really like the idea.

Oh, I think the head could be shaded a little more. I don't think you should make the braid straight, I think it looks nice how it is, personally.

I like the idea so far, but I've got a couple of things that might make it better! I hope you don't mind that I borrowed your image to draw on, but I explain best with pictures.

It may just be me, but I think the braid would look a bit more realistic if it bagged some at the shoulder, since some of the weight is being taken off of it at that point? I just think it looks more natural that way.

As for the hairline, it's definitely too low. Do you work on a canvas with facial features? It tends to help with hairline placement and such. I overlaid my usual base over yours so you can see the hairline in comparison to base eyes. I also sketched out a possible edited hairline?

Overall, I just LOVE the concept, and I'd honestly love to get one of these at some point in time. c:

EDIT: I noticed that you stated that the head area was finished, but I think it could probably use a little more shading to define the shape of the head. Just a light multiply layer should work fine.

I think you should make a mord-sith costume and an agiel next c:

yay!! Another SoT fan!! I'm planning a Denna HA which is why I wanted the wig but yeah the plan is to do the whole Mord Sith outfit :)

Looking at the reference, I can see what you mean. I just think that the area that the braid becomes visible seems a little unnatural.

@ mandrake I only like the books. I got through about 30 mins of the first episode of the tv version and hated it. They changed the bits of the story I thought were important. But I skipped through it and thought they had the Mord Sith perfect so that's what I'm basing the outfit on :)

its kinda supposed to be unnatural I suppose. But the strict braid is the main point of it really. It's all about discipline. I don't really mind where its placed as long as its tight and severe looking :)

I'm not sure if it's just me, but the hair outside of the braid just doesn't look like hair :c It looks almost like fabric with folds in it :d It's definitely the shading style you used, but that's pretty obvious. I wish I could go into greater detail or tell you how you might fix it, but I'm honestly not very knowledgeable as far as digital art goes x: In any case, it may just be me, and I really love the actual style of the hair ❤

I like the stray hair on the hairline idea.. but how would this work? since it has to have black lineart ;-;

I like the "weight on the shoulder" but the top just seems strange to me >< Love the hairline though.. I'll work on that c: and add a multiply layer.. may re-ping you once done. Hope you don't mind!

I've seen others do it. It's hard to explain though. Also I mentioned that before I saw the pic it was based off. x.x lol

The hair does have a sort of fabric effect, but I think it needs a little bit of darker shading through the whole head, and more specifically towards the braid on the top of the head d:

Yeah, I've tried to watch the shows but it seems like they changed everything but the peoples names. It's not a bad show, it's just not anywhere near as awesome as the books c: Also, the actor they picked for Richard is bug-eyed and creepy lol.
