If so, how old were you when you were taught it?

As for me... I don't know how to swim. I'm pretty sure I get the jist of it, but I've never really had a chance to actually be taught by someone. It's pretty much like, 'Pick an apple, put it in your pocket', while kicking, no?

I'm just curious really, since I'm going to a pool party tomorrow.(Today, whatever)

No. I took a lot of classes when I was younger, but ended up clinging to the instructors and almost drowning them a lot. ): It's embarrassing when you live somewhere surrounded by water. xD

What a world of solemn thought their monody compels!

I can swim enough to keep myself afloat, and I won't drown... Erm, I learned how to swim when I was like twelve, and by myself. No one taught me.

I honestly don't understand how you cannot swim. :c

I suppose it's because I learned how to swim before I could even walk properly. ;P My dad always pushed me to learn how to swim. I don't know why to be honest.

YEAH, BOY. I think I was about age...8? We had swimming lessons with the school (that were shit) and also I had swimming lessons with this group thing (that were decent). So I learnt pretty quick - having 2 lessons a week and all.

But yeah, if you don't quite know how to swim, you can always just try and doggy paddle. Or just flap your limbs about while maintaining buoyancy. That should do it.

Oh yeah~

I was about... 7 or 8 when I learned. Just kinda did it own my own, with some help from my friends who could already swim.

I used to take swimming lessons. If I were to go back for one more year, I'd be certified to be a life guard... But, they stopped offering lessons there. And now I'm just too old anyways

Graduated, now time to get on with my life.

Man I love swimming:D Know I was little when I learned to swim, just don't remember...

I love swimming back and forth from wall to wall... Diving to get dive sticks. 'I didn't have nose plugs some of the time, so water would be in my nose, and I would be smelling pool water for a day or however.'

Use to go to the Fairfax Pool in Wisconsin few times. Boy that was fun.

Nope, I don't know how.. aaand I'm 18. haha. But that's okay, as I dislike the water and getting my face wet. .-. I have tried to learn though a few years ago, and just freaked out.

Oh...wow. I mean, I always knew there were people who couldn't swim, but it seems so strange to me. I guess it's because I live on an island in the middle of the ocean. Everyone here can swim.

My friends ALL can, and we went dock-jumping in the 90 degree weather. SO nice. I stayed in the water for at least an hour. Swimming is the best. However, I refuse to swim in pools. They anger me.

Somewhat. xD

I can doggy paddle, but sometimes I have trouble regularly swimming. ^_^; Although I can stay afloat, so yeah.

I think I learned to stay afloat when I was around 10 or 11 years old.

Well, for me at least, I've never really had a chance to.:/ Whenever I've gone 'swimming' the water was low enough for me to stand in, or there was a wall.

Still, I think I've got the idea of it. Just the practice... I need to try.XD

I can't swim. I guess that could be why I hate being in pools or lakes. Never was giving the opportunity to learn either. Kind wish I did.

Actually the reason I hate being in lakes is because I hate smelling like fish afterwards.

I can't swim. :c Or even float, I just kinda hold onto the sides for dear life.

The closest thing I had to a lesson, was my sister's boyfriend (who scuba dives, and is really into swimming) trying to teach me to doggie paddle/float on my back. Never really work, I just ended up flailing around and getting laughed at by six years olds. But I want to take an adult begginner course one day soon.

I WILL LEARN ONE DAY, I WILL. :c

Yeah, the sides are our friends.:) I can float on my back too though.

They have courses for people older than five? Sweet! If I ever get a chance to I'll do that.

I love swimming. It's like flying but not, lol. I taught myself to swim when I was like 13, I think. We had lessons in school when we were little but they were shitty. One I knew how to doggie paddle, I pretty much just copied other strokes. I don't get how people can 'sink'... unless I breathe out I really can't sink.

I learned to swim when I was about... 4 years old-ish. I don't particularly like swimming, and never go to the pool or anything, but I think it is something everybody should learn to do. I hate swimming over the big drains in the swimming pool or seaweed in the sea... I always think I'll get sucked down the drain or something will jump up and eat me. :P

Edit: We had mandatory swimming lessons in Primary 7 (age 11) with the school. We had to swim a certain distance in a set time to get some kind of certificate (I think).
