Why do you insist on filling the lovely white background of your shop with sparkle-tastic gifs and massively huge anime graphics?

That layout you got from your Subeta fansite of choice - does it make you feel speshul and individualizeddd in comparison to alllll the other people using the exact same layout?

Your extra graphics and fancy layouts - they crash my internet. They summon the mighty Lagamonster to do battle with my computer and make me fail my wizard quests (when I actually bother doing them). They make me hate you deep down in the hateyest part of me and make me wonder: if I block you, will you promise to never show up on my shop search again?

You will rarely, if ever, look at your own shopfront. Perhaps you should spend more time personalizing parts of the site you actually use and less time making me do battle with your shop layout of doom. :(

Especially if I'm on a Wizard Quest. It lags my internet while all those graphics load and I don't get as many tokens. That makes me sad. D:

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who has trouble keeping calm with heavy imaged shops. While it doesn't quite crash my Internet it does make it go really slow and sluggish and sometimes I will really want a 15 point wiz token and end up with a 10 instead because the shop I bought the item from took too long to load up...

Agreed! This was a problem for me, too, before they... did whatever they did to the server. Especially the shops that were like, 45 pages long with big WELCOME TO MAH SHOP banners. The wizard completely abandoned giving me 15 point wizard tokens.

When it gets really bad, I make a list of the shops that have massive layouts like that and just don't buy from them until the server speed/my internet picks up. Not because I'm boycotting them, of course, but because I want to get my wizard tokens ;).

god, i know. my computer + shop layouts = no. especially that rumi layout from subetaHQ - it looks nice, but every single time i see a black background with neon links, my browser crashing is inevitable.

i don't know why users bother putting more than a little description in their shop info. i mean, people usually jab the back button right after the page loads for quests...it's not like they actually stay in the shop and browse through the items looking for a good deal like they would at a grocery store.

Same here. Those shops kill my internet. ;_; I once stumbled upon one that was full of floating hearts - which made it impossible to click and purchase anything from there.

Ugh, I hate those shops. I mean, I can understand getting a layout for a gallery, but for shops that are just selling quest items there's no point.

I get especially upset when I have to wait forever for a shop to load and then the wiz gives me a cheapo item. :/

If you have gifs, graphics or layouts - I will avoid your shop at all costs.

Unfortunately, so many effing shops use those damn pre-made layouts that I loose track sometimes. And for those moments of forgetfulness, I am punished.

Gahhhhh I hate that so much! It's also particularly annoying if I'm browsing the advertising forums and someone who is selling stuff has it all in a shop with a layout like that. It makes browsing more difficult because I like just glancing through for the little blue WL outline. Most layouts make it pretty much impossible to see the outline. A minor thing, but I'm always looking for stuff to buy and it slows me down :P

Having one image as a 'shopkeeper' or something is fine. But flooding the whole damn page with a seizure-inducing rainbow diarrhea background and then adding kawaii-anime-desu animations (possibly even 'floaty' GIFs so that you can't even click the item you want to buy) makes me want to strangle someone.

Thankfully, Adblock solves all of those problems as best as possible. Even if the page still looks fug with the CSS in place, but the images blocked.

I wonder whether it'd be possible to limit shop descriptions to sCode only and make it so that only galleries can have layouts. Or limit the amount of images you can have in a shop somehow.

I asked around to see if it was possible to use CustomCSS to disable shop code but apparently it's highly unlikely to be possible, and I'm not that good at coding haha. ^If anyone works it out, feel free to share XD

Thank you so much for calling this out. People who put up fancy shop layouts are so damn stupid. I don't mind a text and MAYBE a tiny, little picture are fine. But the big, sparkly crap? No. HELL no.

I wish it was possible to disable them. When I was using an older laptop, it actually crashed because of some idiot's big animu-styled background. D:

But seriously, I hate shop layouts with a passion.

My computer is fast but when someone has like 50 valenths or those dragon adoptables in their shop it's like... omfg. It takes way longer than necessary, especially during quests. Save your nice layouts for your gallery or profile or something where someone will actually appreciate it.

I never look at the stuff people write in their shop description.

OH GOD I FORGOT ABOUT THE MASS QUANTITIES OF ADOPTABLES.

The killy hate part of me is angered just thinking about that noise.

My shop has one sentence at the top: "I welcome haggling and trading - just mail or comment me." It is functional. It is brief. A purpose - it has one. Sometimes a person wanting something expensive from my shop will even read and utilize it.

Anything more than that and my reflex to gtfo of your shop kicks in.

I hate those layouts. :( I don't mind one neat, medium sized, non-glittery picture, but the layouts just bother me. It makes it harder to just browse through a shop for some cheap items. I never buy loads of items from a shop with a layout, either. I only do that for shops with white backgrounds.

God help me if I see an animated, sparkly background! I don't even bother and turn right around. But you know what really grinds my gears- people who post a slew of pics of their family, kids, nephew or whatever- in their shops!

What I hate, is the fact that when you buy something you are automatically taken to that person's shop. What is the point of that? I mean, you already have the item you need at that point.

Ugh, I agree. The layouts don't really bother me (since I can quest fine with them? XD ), but when a layout moves the 'Shop Search' button it really annoys me.

As highly annoying as all those sparkly GIF's are, you do realize you don't actually have to enter the persons shop to buy said item you're after.

After you click that spiffy buy button in the shop search simply click the stop button on the top of your browser. You have the item but you have no headache from the sparkly shit in peoples shops cause it stops it from loading.

I especially hate the sparkly flashing monstrosities that make feel as if I'm about to have a seizure at the next possible moment. My hope for this thread is that someone with an entirely too tacky shop reads it and reforms.
