I kind of made a topic about this a while ago in GD. I don't like layouts, categories, 7+ pages, etc. Makes questing a big chore.

That's too bad about your internet, though. What is your connection speed in Mbps? Perhaps you might be able to do something to improve it.

Oh god. It is one of my BIGGEST pet peeve on sites like these. :( I don't mind people putting them on their profiles, pet profiles, and galleries because they want that to look nice, but in shops, no. x_x; Shops are just for buying stuff, getting out. Done deal. :/ Flashy layouts will only discourage people from buying from there again. .___.

That's so true Dx I don't see the need to have 400x400px GIFs in a shop that are 3 or 4 MB big... a pretty and small banner is enough. No need to crash peoples computer by having sparkly and wabbling animations there Dx

I especially hate the sparkly flashing monstrosities that make feel as if I&;m about to have a seizure at the next possible moment. My hope for this thread is that someone with an entirely too tacky shop reads it and reforms.

I hate to be pessimistic about this but there have been boards made about this before and people are still using ridiculous layouts in their shops. It really effects me most when I do wizard quests and can't get out of the shop because it has to load a million images. I get totally frustrated because I'm trying to get back to him to get the 15 point token only to end up with less because I got stuck in a shop.

                                                                                [dance=Diann]

I was going to quote someone I agreed with and say YES, THIS!

but I would have had to quote every single post in this thread.

Also, I'm one of those people who does browse the shop I've just bought my quest items in. I'm always looking out for wishlist items that might be cheaper than they were when I put them on my wishlist, and I'm a huge impulse buyer.

But ONLY from shops with no background or graphics. LOOK, PEOPLE, IT'S COSTING YOU SALES. PLEASE STOP IT.

I loathe shop layouts! I don't care about people expressing their individuality or whatever - save it for the profiles or your custom CSS where it's not going to cause anybody hassle. The worst are the ones that deliberately remove the standard Subeta menu, or use that profile-style top bar that never has the link you actually want.

I have less problems than some when I'm questing because I use tabs, but sometimes the shop layouts are so elaborate or image-filled that they practically break my browser trying to load and lag everything enough that I miss out on getting that 15 point token.

It doesn't matter how pretty or beautifully coded a shop layout is, I'm not going to appreciate it because I'm too busy trying to close the tab as fast as possible to pay it any mind.

I totally agree, what really is the point as many have said it's doing more bad thenb good. But I have had a notion, perhaps the owners added the layout when they were new and had completely forgotten about the lag inducing bitch of a code they added?

IMO 'shop layouts' should only be limited to galleries.

You know, they don't really slow my internet down that much, but they're giving me seizures, especially the sparkly ones. Annnnd I hate the ones that cover the navigation bar. It's SO annoying on quests.

Oh, and most of them are just ugly as hell.

I so agree with this! I've missed so many tokens due to the lag caused by these awful layouts! I try to avoid shops that are particularly bad, but most of the time I click too fast :(

One time I commented a user who has a very large shop and had just changed her layout and told her how laggy it may the site. She thanked me and changed her layout. I think users may not be aware what their layouts do to the page load process...

Edit: yes, the sparkly ones make me puke!

I've actually commented users with particularly lag/crash-inducing shop layouts before. They replied with an: "Oh rly? Are u sureee? It works just fyne 4 me. Mayb u should fix ur computer? :D"

And none of them changed their layouts. :(

I had a fancy layout once so that when people were doing quests their computer wouldn't load and they wouldn't finish. Lol, I'm a mean person.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Why in fuck's sake do you need a shop layout? All it does is screw up everyone's questing.

I don't see the problem with them as long as the images are small, and there aren't many of them. It helps if they're not animated. My old computer crashed in quite a few shops that were clogged with glitter text and giant graphics.

My shop has 2 images. One is 96 bytes, and one is 7.13 kb. Hopefully they don't kill anybody's computers.

I.agree. Now when I am questing, I take a quick glace at the shops I am going to buy from so that I can avoid the ones I KNOW have horrid flashy vomit-enducing graphics. I don't mind the ones with lots of pages of items though, because I love to buy crap I don't need. Also, they need to make a living too right?

Oh good fookin god, I thought I was the only one that was experiencing this. This blue lady/lizard layout and the green/nuclear one rape my Wizard quests. Everytime I run into one of those lag-inducing shops, I'm just like "GAWDFUCKINGDAMNITSONOFABISH!" And it costs me my 15 point token or whatever. I even have to restart my browser JUST to get the tab the shop is on, off. I hate with a passion of a thousand suns.

Really, the only graphic I have in my main shop is a banner. Non-lag inducing so far as I know. Very simple.

I hate hate hate shop layouts. I don't care how clean it is it will almost always let the Lagmonster out of his cage to bite the hell out of my computer and make my browser crash. I've lost so many quests because of it. It hurts my bank account because it takes 300x as long to do a quest with one item because if you click back too fast it stops you from buying the item.

Besides the flashing/sparkly/huuuuuge/fugly graphics that take up my entire screen make my eyes hurt and my brain explode.

I absolutely HATE graphics in shops. No, I don't particularly want to know about your obsessions with Harry Potter/Twilight/Anime graphics and crappy glitter images. I went to your shop because I want to buy the item, not because I want to play with the Lagmonster for a good fifteen minutes. ;_;

Questing has become ridiculous.

I don't know... I didn't see a shop layout in months, when I'm doing my quests, I click on the Buy button, I stop the load of the page, and I search for the next item, as fast as I can. It's easy, fast, and keeps my eyes safe from glittering animated kawaii-desu sparkling furry pics/layouts. xD

Oh god, I LOATHE shop layouts.

I don't mind if you have a couple lines of text, or one or two little pictures, but when it gets to the point that I can't even see the items because your massive gallery has pushed them so far down on the page, then that's a problem.

I won't even get started on the speshul snowflakes who have to have uber-fancy shop layouts that hide the fucking Subeta navigation menu. Seriously? I'm not here to look at your shiny desu layout, I'm here because I clicked the buy button for my quest. I just want the shop search link, not some crappy anime picture.

I would LOVE the option to disable shop layouts. It would make everyone's life so much easier.
