We’ve re-enabled ads around the site.
As much as we’d love to avoid it, keeping Subeta running does have its costs. Ads are one of the simplest ways to help cover those expenses. We’ve had an on-again, off-again relationship with ads in the past, and while I’m not the biggest fan of targeted advertising, it’s a necessity to keep things going! The alternative would be to raise prices or increase Cash Shop (CS) releases, but we’d really prefer to keep as much content on Subeta free for everyone.
If you happen to come across any inappropriate ads, please don’t hesitate to submit a report through a ticket, and include a screenshot of the ad.
As always, you have the option to get a Gold Account, which blocks all external ads. And if you use an ad blocker, we get it and still appreciate your support! 💖

Honestly grateful Subeta is here at all. Glad to buy CSC when I can and look at ads when I can't. Thank you!
Funny, I read the annoucement and then went to the adblocker to whitelist subeta and... it was already white listed :B

Whatever helps keep subeta up! Ads or increased prices, I support so that way we all still have our second home :)

I have no problem with ads at all, but I do have a problem with data collection and selling for advertisers - will there be a way to opt out of that? Or are the ads just targeted based on non-personal info like IP or time of day?
Thank god that Subeta's still gonna be up! (let's hope that we don't see any pornographic ads on this site,I hate pornographic ads!)

Honestly, I think it's super admirable that the site has held out on advertising as consistently as it has, and it's no mark of shame to do what has to be done to keep the site available to as many people as possible. Subeta is really something special.
Ads are fine with me. It's a good way for the site to raise money.

anything that keeps the site around is much welcomed!! thank you staff for all of your continued efforts to keep the site running and to improve it. 20 years is massive and it would be a very sad day if it shut down, so it's great to see you doing whatever you need to keep the site running!
I respect the use of ads and have Subeta whitelisted. However, I did get a full-screen ad that was a tad bit annoying; I know you can't always control what ads show up, but it would obviously be preferred to not have obtrusive ads like that.

I can’t use the site anymore. It covers the whole upper part. I can’t go in my inventory or anything else!

Absolutely! Thanks for the feedback, we have some toggles to control what is shown to the users, and can hopefully move them around to make them less invasive. I've gone ahead and made a few tweaks, hopefully that should prevent those full page takeover ads.
This is a post about how Subeta needs funds to keep the site running, and how ads are now something that we're going to need to get used to in order to keep Subeta online. I also hope that I've been clear that we're going to tweak the ads and make sure that they are not invasive, and ones that take up the whole top of the screen count toward something I'd call invasive. I'd hoped we'd get a little more grace than "💩".

For anyone that has an annoying ad like I just did, that takes up half the screen, if you have adblock plus, you can block the element. Click the little ADP stop sign and at the bottom there's a "Block Element" in blue. It immediately blocked that ad. Can't say it'll work 100% of the time. I don't mind ads, just don't like the giant ones that are in your face.
