Hi I actually meant the ads that block the site from doing things here are 💩 . Not the site itself or why you need to use the ads. I get that and I don’t mind seeing them however those ads what makes the site unusable that’s what’s bothering me. I’m glad to read you’re going to do something about it.

I was unable to do anything yesterday, I couldn’t use the top bar, I couldn’t read the comments, nothing at all so I was quite annoyed yesterday and came off a bit too strong in frustration.

I totally get it. It sucks on one hand, but content creators have to be able to pay the bills. I think any reasonable person will know y'all are doing what the site needs to be able to afford to be updated and kept running for hopefully another 20 years or so!

Ads are fine, I don't mind them for the most part. But I do have a question about if there's any control in where an advertisement is placed. Currently, on my end, there's an advertisement placed inside the body of a news post and not in-between like another. Is there anything that can be done about that specific advertisement placement or is it automatic?

might just be because a few of us with lots of buddy GAs were looking for people to throw them at ;)

It's automatic, but if you could take a screenshot it'd be really helpful so that we can ask our rep to block those types of ads.

It's pretty weird -- the difference in the industry now vs the last time we really made an effort to put up advertisements 😰 In the past, you'd just get a few banner code snippets and place them where you want, now they give you a single code and it "smart generates" the ads on the page, where they are the "least intrusive".

Looking into the ads with sound today, that also shouldn't happen! (I'm going to assume that each of these ads we block are the ones that make the most money 🤣)

Yes, it was really bizarre seeing that ad placement right in the news body (even between in-site links for the anniversary and gelatin fighters posts on the September 17th and 20th respectively-- you could possibly accidentally click on the the ad if you were quickly browsing), but I understand why it was like that now and I thank you for your explanation. However, I was gifted GA few moments ago (thank you so much!), so I may or may not able unless there's an option to disable ad viewing for GA I'm not aware of. It might be able to be replicated with a new basic account though, but it's against the ToS to have multiple accounts. But thank you again for your quick response!

I soooo second the advertising Subeta wish. With early 2000s nostalgia being like the IN thing at the moment I feel if more people knew about this site I really think a nice wave would join and have so much fun. I try to pitch it to my closer friends but they all have such different interests than me lmao but I know there are plenty of people out there looking for what this place offers. But alas, advertising = spending money and I know that's real hard, too e_____e

Thank you for everything you do around here. I think Ads at this point in 2024 are completely okay. It's a necessary evil.

The only problem is, several things become unstable. I can't view any previews of items, my bookmarks are unusable, and huge breaks in pages, due to extra large ads, make things all wonky. Will keep plugging away though. Fun is fun. <3

i recently made the commitment to pay real money for my gold account because i was like "well, i literally log into subeta every day, i want it to continue existing, it's genuinely worth the money" so i am totally fine with this change - was going to whitelist subeta until i read that GAs block ads lol. i appreciate everything the staff team does for us!!

I'm just insanely excited that this site is still up, active, and running. I've been here on and off for over a decade, so anything you guys need to do to keep everything up is okay with me!!

I don't mind the ads so much accept that they slide up onto the page making it so I almost click them sometimes. Would it be possible to just have the ad bar already be there like a regular banner ad?
