I googled for the Tea House because I couldn't remember how long it's been. I found this - Trivia / Subeta. Not a good advert for the site if the aim is to attract new members. I'm not suggesting that staff should complain about the entry or check the internet to see what else is being said about the site.
i mean it could certainly be worded differently but i don't think subeta really has a duty to monitor other sites for discussion/information. perhaps this would have been better off as a ticket so that it could be discussed by admins internally without bringing additional attention to it?
I'm not suggesting that staff do anything about the TV Trope entry because it's true.
Maybe it's time to forget complicated ideas for the Tea House and do something basic even if it's just the Tea House owner asking people to supply food and drink. The quests could give out sP but no items because we're already overloaded with items.
Once the Tea House is out of the way we could have the Lower West Side map.
Don't know what could be done about the Gardens revamp but a timer for watering plants would be a start. Maybe some new seeds in Seedlings?
After that, the TV Trope entry would disappear because it would no longer be relevant.
PS: The TV Trope entry isn't entirely accurate because it was really an auction where players donated sP to charities. The donations results -
Shengui Guo Teahut with 295,550,000 sP donated
Gardens with 293,750,000 sP donated
Centropolis Lower West Side with 249,150,000 sP donated
Players who took part ended up being impatient because we wasted a lot of sP.
Yeah, you're right.
I clicked this thread wondering what was going on, and now I have my answer.....
But yeah, can't really do the tea house because of all the time spent on fixing errors this site has, both the old version and newer one.

Or it would change to They Changed It, Now It Sucks because it didn't meet the lofty ambitions of 2017 staff and users. Heck, even the YMMV page said "Bhakorus were going to be made widely available, but they never were." (Until this month [?])
I don't think there's quite any winning, especially when what they said was true.
I dunno man. Every site has its problems.

Subeta really can't police what random other sites say. :/
I really doubt someone interested in finding a new petsite to play is going to be like "Hmmm... let's see what tvtropes dot com is going to say about subeta...heyyy what is this about a TEA HOUSE not being finished?? No way am I going to join subeta now!!"
I don't think that that particular article is really going to harm Subeta's ability to gain new players
If you click on the Troubled Production link there's a list which includes DC Comics films, Marvel Comics films, Star Trek, Star Wars and Doctor Who so Subeta is in good company. :D
Seriously, though, it would look better if Lower West Side had a map even if this feature only came third in the bidding. Not that there's much to put on it. The Centropolis Green Project is just a pretty picture commemorating a site event we had years ago and Subeta Ink is closed. This just leaves the Coin Machine, Pawn Shop and the Prize Get Vending Machine.
They do say that "any publicity is good publicity."
Personally I think that any big site like TV Tropes that mentions Subeta is a good thing. I've looked up stuff on that site and gone on to explore some of the media it mentions. Just because a certain media makes use of a trope (or falls into a trope) doesn't mean its all bad. Some of my favorite shows/movies/books get talked about there.

i really don't think that this matters at all lol
this is why
having wrote and edited some TVtropes articles myself, I can confirm that usually any sort of goof em ups are kept in, a good page is maintained to show the whole history
it would be really funny if someone based judgement from a tvtropes page. usually you read the tropes after. funny to see there is one for subeta, need to have a peruse of it!
and hey, if someone is turned off by the tvtropes page, not much the site can do about it. I think the more viable and more damning "don't use this site" is the negative blogs on tumblr using the subeta hashtag
Honestly I'm more surprised we even have a TV Tropes page for our site. We made it y'all, we on TV Tropes!

Good point.
as far as feedback about the tea house, IMO making it a quest that rewards SP only is a little contrarian to the nature of the original vote (an SP sink). i might be in the minority but i certainly don't mind waiting for the feature to naturally come to the top of the to-do list since we've already waited this long for it.
Nothing untrue about it.
Had it been dishonest, I would probably have been upset. But, there is no lie.
I've altered the OP to say that I'm not suggesting that staff should do this.
I don't know what we were expecting for the Tea House because only the donation results are on the site now. I found this in the Subeta Wiki - Shengui Guo Tea Hut
This could have meant anything like going there once a day to be given a cup of tea or a quest where we had to supply him with tea to share with us.
I think originally it was that people were asking for tea-related items, and this shop was supposed to be a way to get those out. It was just planned to be a shop. But then feature creep took over, and no one really knows where the project stands.
I think I also remember a staff member saying the Centropolis map was essentially done and was just waiting for the tea shop to be released first. There's really no reason for them to be sitting on that after all this time, but here we are.
But yeah, if there's dev drama on Subeta or any other game/website, people will talk about it. That's just how the internet is. It's not like they've said anything inaccurate...

What do you mean with "The tea house is not finished"? That's it, I'm deleting my account.
TV Tropes is a Wiki. If it says something that's not true, you can edit it.
A writing project I was the main mod for got TV Troped, and I did edit a few things that were just plain factually wrong but otherwise I took the roasting in stride as much as I could, because otherwise you just look like someone who has not only committed some fail but also has zero chill or self-awareness.
I particularly loved the complaint that our Nazi villains lacked motivation for being evil. Their motivation was that they sincerely believed some people were subhuman, because they were Nazis. What other motivation do you need? People might have joined the Nazi party out of fear, but these characters had chosen to be involved. I actually left that in place because it reflected more on the troper than on us.
The point of TV Tropes isn't to be a good advert, the point of TV Tropes is snark.
I've seen the Subeta page many times and I think it's pretty funny but it doesn't stop me from being here, and it didn't turn anyone away from our project while we were doing it, either.
