I submitted a ticket about this issue but it came to no resolution; I can’t help but feel like this matter isn’t being treated with the proper sensitivity. The achievement name for completing X amount of Mori and Nori quests is called Split Personality – this is a term used to refer to a variety of disorders, often derogatorily, and the SubetaPedia article is too close to resembling a real mental illness in a problematic way.
Save your offensive-ness for real issues. Mori and Nori are simply at odds over light and darkness. No slur of any kind is intended. Let not your heart be troubled,
Perhaps with Mori and Nori apart of this site someone could feel better about their own issues and not feel like they need to hide it. Or possibly feel a desire to seek help after seeing resemblance.
Personally, brushing over certain topics make people think they are taboo. Thats not fair to anyone.
I don't think is saying Mori and Nori should be removed from the site, but that the terminology used to refer to them is outdated, which is true. I think the use of "split personality" could be changed either to accurately reflect the psychological term, that being dissociative disorder or dissociative identity disorder, or it could be changed to be clearly magical in nature and unrelated to the real-life phenomenon. It's a small thing, but it means a lot to the people it affects.
But do we really need to change every little thing because somebody somewhere might object to it? Perhaps a little maturity would be helpful. Why take offense where none is intended?
seconding this. mori and nori could use a revamp, i think even a redesign can do them some good. as i interpreted it when i was younger, i thought they were separate beings/sisters/not the same body. if youre meaning a different dynamic between them, maybe 2 separate images isnt entirely doing its job to get the point across. they should definitely be updated to fit with our more modern perception of this topic!
it's true theres no malicious intent behind the achievement title or their characters as a whole. but i dont think people are asking to redo a majority of the npcs, just them as we as a society grow to learn more about differing mentalities and how they affect others' lives. i dont have multiple personalities, but maybe to someone who does, it IS offensive. i cant decide that for them

I'm going to say that the argument that real life is more pressing then this issue doesn't defeat that this isn't an issue? It's extremely dismissive and does nothing towards the discussion. It has nothing to do with maturity and to use that in this discussion is also rude.
It takes nothing but a bit of editing to change 'split personality' to something else.
Ooh definitely agree that the achievement name should be renamed. Even if Mori/Nori are in the position they are because of magical/fantasy elements, separating them from the real phenomenon of plurality would be good, especially with the outdated terminology.
Some suggestions for a new name could be: "Light or Darkness" "Sister sister" "Day or Night" etc
I definitely agree that we should change any words that are stigmatizing or derogatory in any way. I do think it's better overall for the site to change the words when they're re-discovered as a sign of growth and good-will for the people affected. I'm pretty sure we've all said some things before we truly understood all the context or meaning behind them and now they're we've gown and understand, we know better of it. I'm always on board when people get a chance to learn and grow.
I definitely think that we can change some of the terms and have Nori and Mori lean more into their duality theme for the achievement name. A lot of their shop items has day/night themes or dark/light themes.
i have DID, and while the whole thing doesnt bother me since I've grown used to those being ignorant of personality disorder traits, saying it isnt offensive to you doesnt really hold weight in this discussion, and it is a simple fix. This is less of an issue of not having intent to offend/disparge, which is clearly has, but more of an issue of discrepancies on world view. Just because it doesnt affect you personally doesnt mean it isnt an issue, and to assume maturity is an issue is dismissive and quite honestly embarrassing. I suspect if this was tied to more mainstream disorders this flippant attitude wouldn't be as prevalent. This thread isnt asking for much. Please be kind and respectful.
[edit]
The acquisition of the term 'removal' is interesting, as that wasn't broached by the OP. Also, consider this; Subeta is a place to escape from real life issues, and with a simple text change to make others comfortable, I don't think that's much of an ask. Its just the wording of the achievement name and some subetapedia article words. Whoever is gleaning more out of this, I don't know what to say. Again, be kind and respectful, it doesn't take much.
Thank you very much for saying something. ♥ I knew it was going to be a "matirity" debate...The thing is for us, it's not just a trigger. People have only used calling us split for demonizing gains...it's ableist and ignorant from where we're coming from.
[edit]In the midst of all that this thread has become, my own original intention of this post has been lost. Editing out.

I always saw these two characters being split as in well, splitting differences. Yes it is an outdated term (we don't call the condition Split Personality DO, it's Dissociative Identity DO) , but these characters and the achievement have nothing to do with the disorder, at all. It's literal. Mori and Nori are split between light and darkness. I would hate to see NPCs removed because they're very unique in concept.

It isn't asking much to be respectful and have a discussion but apparently it seems like quite the difficult task for some.
well, if we‘re gonna play the maturity card here, why not start about talking about how much more mature it would be, to argue / discuss in a more respectful manner? you clearly don‘t have to agree on the subject, though i think is very right in saying this should be changed, but you could at least try to find some more respectful words.
this thread gives me gen x vibes, "we've always called it this way", screaming cancel culture even though no one was cancelling or deleting anyone or anything. it was just a simple plea to make this site more inclusive. probably no harm done with calling it "split personalities"? well definitely no harm done in just changing it into something else. not like it was the first item / achievement ever to get a revamp, either.
i dont even think anyone who is in agreement with some changes is suggesting or even wanting the site to delete mori and nori fully. i dont know where people got that idea
it would be a very simple and easy change to change the achievement name and tweak some of the lore in subetapedia. the subetapedia entry has a bunch of weird text errors, so it clearly needs some attention anyway
Please keep it respectful, folks, and remember to discuss the topic and not the poster(s). Thank you!
hey! weighing in as as another person with a dissociative disorder, i'd welcome a change in phrasing. as it is, i know that mori/nori isn't meant to be representative of our experiences, so it gets a groan out of me more than any largely negative reaction. but still, little things here or there add up over time to influence how society views my disorder.
i agree with 's proposals for name replacement ideas! i feel that leaning more towards mori/nori being associated with actual DID/OSDD would be a step in the wrong direction since it does play into the stereotype of "every system has a Bad Evil alter who wants to do harm." changing the name of the achievement would already do a lot.
as for the subetapedia entry, i don't really have the energy right now to read over it and give an opinion. but in short, focusing on them being two parts jammed into one body via supernatural means, or a personification of light/dark would be better than calling them personalities. think vanitas/ventus from kingdom hearts maybe?
i don't have a 100% solution to it, but i/we do appreciate the discussion about it!
