On December 25, the little creatures of my clan and tribe celebrate Christmas with a big feast in the evening. Everybody was awake at first light, full of anticipation. The little ones were up first to see if "Father Christmas" had left gifts; usually a maple sugar candy, an orange, a small wooden toy (tops are particularly popular this year) and a parchment roll full of smoked and dried jerky.
Mother and father got up for bismuth and pussypaw tea to settle their queasy tummies and aching heads from all the ale and whiskeys that they consumed last night. Weldon attempted to appear stoic and steadfast, even as he staggered to the kitchen to light the stove so that he could make a pot of strong coffee. But I knew better, he was hurting and cooking food was the last thing on his mind.
He probably should have given up, made an offering to the "porcelain goddess" and sleep it off until noon. But no, he truly is my strong Watcher, he has fought many more fierce battles in his life and he has rarely been hung over this bad. Still, I giggled to myself as I watched him stumble about with the water kettle while he rubbed his head, offered silent prayers to the Maker and asked Him for forgiveness for drinking like a Watcher Cadet. My brave soldier took in a deep breath, stood tall, closed is eyes as he relaxed, let out his breath and ralphed. Fortunately, he was at the sink and I quickly eased him into a chair, helped him with wet washcloths and a towel. The war in his tummy and head was over in a moment. Boys... sheesh! Am I right? Of course I'm right!
The feast held at 6:00 PM at the Burrow Inn because the kitchen there is large enough for Weldon and his squad of cooks from the Watcher Corp Cooks Regiment to easily prepare a feast for hundreds of hungry wee creatures. The Inn's dining room can easily seat hundreds of hungry wee creatures with room for dancing and games after dinner.
The amount of food is staggering and I've edited this post four times trying to tell you all about it, but I can't, it's a whole chapter in a book trying to describe how wonderful all the great Christmas food is. I've already said a lot about the pudding and the eggnog. Let's just say that Weldon's skill with the roast meats, root vegetables, pies, and fruit salads are just as mouthwatering.
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas Day, a Happy Luminaire, a blessed Yule and that you have a warm and save New Year.
We're half-way out of the dark...
I love you all so very much.
Yay! A new thread just in time for the New Year! Hope you all have a wonderful week! :)
Calendar days are closer than they appear! [item=mocking clock]
A few days left in this bloody year, mine made a last call regarding old accounts needing closing. I should know to not ignore collection notifications about a deceased person.
Mine also wondering about my art commission, I asked for a meeting to collect my figure and any examples of the artwork. Mine will have to be more stern if this doesn't occur as requested.
A belated Merry Christmas ya'll and and a Happy New Year! :)
I know I've only really been on a little each day to do a few short things and haven't really been active here much. But I hope you all have been having wonderful holidays all around. Bear Hugs All You Beautiful People <3
On a random note...
I was watching a funny YT video, trying not to choke, when the burger I had heated up went crunch. Burgers do Not crunch. WHY did my burger crunch? So as I paused the vid and was still distracted with the last part and the fact my brain is silly after 11:30 pm, I took a look at that part of my burger. It was the center part of a tomato, but it was weird.. I would assume it would be one peice from the stem or something, but it was multiple spread out hard bits. Worried (ridiculously) that it might be unnatural, I began poking it. Next thing I know there's juice coming towards my eye and I'm simultaneously trying not to laugh and yell explicatives on my way to wash my eyes out. ...ow... A tomato tried to blind me...
^_^" I hope others can get a laugh out of my pain as well.
If not, the video I was watching is called The Funniest Things Parents Posted in 2021
May you all be full of joy and your days be merry these last few of 2021. :3 <3
Today marks one year since my mother's passing. Mine have been front of much change, and taking charge of mineself. I've done more growing in the last year than the past decade.
What hasn't changed since, is the quiet...all this silence is bugging me. If I'm not keeping busy or doing something useful I'm out attempting to keep out of regrettable actions.
I may not be on much today, to reflect on this day's context. I not only look at the losses, but to also keep my blessings in mind.
Thank you all for your kind words and thoughts. Mine not always an unfeeling machine to react like this.
Lots of Abrazos My Friend on this day of your mother passing away =(

You are often on my heart and mind, my friend, and knowing the loss of a mama who knows us more than anyone else, is a loss so impactful, that sometimes it feels like we are left wandering. I am so proud of the steps you take to care for yourself, and while I don't know how difficult it is for you, my heart and soul prays that your life's journey will be full of peace, so as to soften the blows that life so often hands us. Many blessings to you, my kindhearted friend. ❤
yes the quiet can let feeling and actions come to us that would not were we not in that zone. I am hoping you went through this day has left your heart full of memories in the nicest of ways and KNOW ahe was near you!!
