Granted this might not be the case but for the most part I have noticed that shops are now restocking after six minutes exactly. I'm not sure if this is a bug or if this is entirely intended addition to the restocking system. If this is a bug I hope it get corrected but if not then I urge staff to reconsider this as a permanent fixture. The appeal of restocking is to get that rare happen chance restock and be entirely random, now this is allowing those with fast connections in certain shops to gain an upper hand, all they have to do is wait every six minutes and easily get to shop they dem profitable. Case in point the current shop, Freylaise which hardly seems fair to those who do happen to have a lesser connection to the internet than others.

I'm not sure if it was intentional but the current form of the Shops are not going to get any additional attention. The "Plan" is for the shops to change all together as part of the Upcoming Rarity Squish. When that will happen....who knows.
The shop ran into some glitches during questathon that got some bandaid fixes but Keith mentioned he does not plan on putting any more time into the current (old) shop system.

The Freylaise shop is a joke right now. As far as event shops go, it's even more of one. I hope this is fixed sooner rather than later.

The Freyalise is always constantly sold out regardless of restock times. It's like this every single year
I don't really have an opinion on the restock times as a whole though
Well that sucks that nothing probably will be done
I guess for the others my main issue is, I can restock in this shop and in the past the timers weren't predictable because last year I remember a few taking close to 30-40 minutes for one restock. Now its so predictable, that all one has to do is stalk the shop on the six minute mark and if you have a really good connection your going to make out uber items during this particular moment in time.

I'd rather have a predictable timer when a shop restocks, but bring back the captchas to balance it out.

You can sell the uber items to pay for your Keel Hauliday items you are not getting? It's a trade off kinda. It does favor the faster connections, but restocking competitions like this always favor those with the fast twitch muscles and souped up machines. This can make the shop seem constantly sold out, but it is not.
Pity the Mystery Box didn't land on the Freyalise this year though. It would have been a sP sink and folks would be likely to get more of the items.
Subeta's a big game and not all parts of it are the same.
oh god, why?!? i think i'd rather eat my own shoes.
it is kinda weird that the shops are stocking every 6 mins (and all of them the same 6 mins apparently?); how long has it been like this? have i really not noticed for so long? :O i think discussing any changes to our current system is kinda pointless though. once the rarity squish happens i imagine this will all be irrelevant. hopefully it's soonish.
(but yes i agree i don't care for the predictability although i'm one of the people with a connection that benefits from it >_>)
Right, but the thing is this hasn't been a mainstream feature as far as the shop restockign every six minutes.
This favors more than those with favor superior connections/computer specs, it allows those who use autoclickers which can be undectable to click items over others. Especially since shops are restocking at a predictable rate. Which I am sure is occurring ever since the haggle system was removed from the game.
There are other issues but it would distract from the main point of this feed back, is looking at fairness for everyone and this change is just to unfavorable for everyone in my honest opinion.
For example, Subeatique would have never changed, had select few users monopolized how that shop functioned today and I'm not so sure once Rarity Squish goes into affect how this will affect Freyalise in the future and if they ever introduce other shops like this as well.
[edit]
I agree, with the haggle while I detested them with a passion I feeld this would curb a lot of autoclicking/autobyer users out there.

I wish they had the shop in the mystery box at least once...
Restocking has been off since the Quest-a-con, or before.
Subeta shops restocking a lot less adjusted the RSing rates and I reckon it must've messed with the timing too.. Shops have been RSing heaps of stock including r70+ at a much higher rate than before (which is devaluing many items).
I've been RSing since then and I didn't notice the 6 minute pattern, lol. }
Regardless I do think something needs to change. I understand that with everything going on IRL the rarity squish is probably delayed, but this current pattern of RSing is also.. not great...
I actually enjoyed the predictable restocking for Keel this year, since it was a lot easier to snag something from the shop whenever I checked in during the day. I can see how that might be a disadvantage to people with slower connections, though. I'm a very casual player and I caught maybe 5-10 restocks per day (though I did not get an item during every RS I caught), and between that, Carl, and a few small spurts of vending (maybe 400 clicks total, or less), I got almost every new item plus many extras to give away. I think the site offers plenty of ways to collect the items while still offering a small "challenge" for restockers to make the holiday more fun.
I'm pretty sure that autorefreshers/clickers aren't allowed anymore, though I'm not a programmer and have no idea what safeguards were put into place to prevent them.
oh, autobuyers def aren't allowed - i'm curious what's leading to the suspicion that people are using them still? like said? i don't think people were using them just because freyalise went out of stock so fast. i caught several restocks in there, and there weren't very many items stocked each time so of course they would get snapped up. but yeah, it was honestly kind of a waste of time to try to restock the items; carl and vending (where i got almost all my items from) were much easier to do. you got ~515 chances a day for items those ways, lol.
Subeta shops used to ALWAYS have a predictable restocking time when I first started playing and it was that way for years. Then someone complained and it got changed and shops barely restocked anymore. As an avid restocker, I am happy to see that shops are restocking on a regular basis again and I do NOT feel that it should be messed with. As it is they only clear once a day which doesn't allow for many new items to even stock in so I don't see what the problem is. If I seem a little salty it is because I am tired of someone always complaining. I also enjoyed restocking for keelhauliday because I was actually able to get things with the way the shop was stocking and normally I barely get any new items. Why punish those with quicker connections? It is not anyone's fault what speed of internet another player has, You can still get items easily even on a "lesser connection" if you work for it.
I dunno. I have an old computer and a wireless connection that is barely faster than dial-up was, and I was able to restock almost everything I wanted. The stuff I missed (mostly books) will be old stock next year , and that much easier to get, so it's no big deal in my opinion. Having the mystery box stock the pirate's stuff one day would have been nice, but kind of anti the spirit of the hauliday, so I have mixed feelings there.
People who have bad connections and computers that struggle with a web browser are such a small population that it's negligible. I don't think site mechanics should be catered to them.
It's really not a small population, a good amount of Americans live in rural areas with terrible internet (Not to leave out people in other countries, I'm sure there are people all over the world with unreliable internet), and I wouldn't doubt that there's at least a chunk of Subeta players that might be in those areas, it seems unfair and unkind to neglect these people
But yeah I'm not big on the hyper-predictable shops
I agree!
I'm not an avid restocker or anything, and I didn't even participate this year, but I have in previous years. I'm someone who lives in the rural US and my internet is terrible. My phone's LTE is leagues faster than my wifi. It's not the worst thing ever, but it's definitely placed me at a disadvantage on certain things.
Last time I found myself unable to get items from the shop, I just went and did quests or vending. I got a lot of items that way, and didn't have to compete with others. I'm neutral on the random vs. timed restock debate. On one hand, I know when I can hope to see a restock--on the other it feels a little victorious to actually be there during a restock (or sad when most of the items are gone) and in my humble opinion, it's a bit of excitement. Either way I don't think I'll personally care too much.
That being said, I strongly disagree with the population of those of us with slow/unreliable internet being "negligible". I'm not saying the whole site should pander to those of us, and as I stated before, there are other ways for us to get those items. But imagine if we didn't take users without fast internet into consideration. That would massively suck and wouldn't be all inclusive at all, which is what Subeta seems to aim to be. We shouldn't be punished for our internet service (more than we are anyway, LMAO). Believe me, if I could get a faster provider I would! But only one services my area and I have to deal with it. 😔
I'm in rural Pennsylvania, do you know the FCC was given about 3bil US dollars to "upgrade" the rural networks specifically then none of us actually saw it used for the purpose it was given to the area? We had the main road torn up here a couple years ago for a fiber installation but nope, not for us. It's for the army base that's further up into the mountains, 15 total miles away.
I live exactly .9 miles from the nearest internet juncture/routing box, you know the things that split into neighborhoods, and have been told that it isn't prudent/is too expensive to upgrade for fiber/higher speed internet in my neighborhood but one of my friends lives at the one mile mark the other direction and she gets fiber. Same ISP.
So don't tell me it's "such a small population that it's negligible," because it's not. I can cite many, many sources on this. I've gone to the FCC over this, that was the only way I was even able to get 15mbps internet was because of filing a formal complaint against the ISP with the FCC.
