First off, I want to say that the new non-unique system is amazing, and I love it! However.... I don't want my pets to be forever-burdened with their old names. I'm aware that they can be hidden on a profile with CSS, but that doesn't stop the legacy links from working. I want a clean slate for my existing pets- some are battlers, one has a glitched gender that I can't recreate with a new pet, so simply recreating them isn't an option. Can this be a thing? Please?

I second this! I dont have a specific reason besides the clean slate feeling, but i feel this should be an option! Espcially for cases like youre saying with a glitch gender or something you'd lose if you re made a pet

Specially if you happen to have a pet that had it's name taken and didn't change the name yet. I don't happen to have one but in case I do or someone else does.

I don't care if my pet is the first or not. And I have a couple I'd love to erase their previous names from record completely. I truly doubt anyone will use those name.

I support this as well. I had a few names that I was planning on name swapping with older id's, and now I have to forever be reminded of what that previous name was. An "off" switch would be wonderful, even if it was permanently "off" and you could never turn it back on again.

I'm always lore centric so maybe somewhere like the bathhouse where a pet gets cleansed, haha.

Aside from that - how would that affect the old legacy pet links if a legacy pet loses its old name? It would just not do anything?

As someone who loves lower IDs this would be something I'm interested in..

Maybe it can be in the pets section, up there with the Create a Pet/Job Agency/Custom overlays? or it can be in the drop down menu for each individual pet, so you can manage that name in specific. (Since I don't want to get rid of all the Legacy names, just one)

Hmm.... Good question! I would say either a link on the same page as name change (if you're changing the name, might be a good way to point out such an ability to purge the records of an old name....) or, alternatively, could turn it into another of the Hustler's shady side jobs. Wiping old names off the records, haha.

Full support of this! While I'm perfectly happy just hiding the Legacy Name(and for some pets, I'm delighted to keep it if it fits their lore), I totally understand why this would be important to some people.

I kind of like the suggestion made! I'm always excited for more lore added to the site, and I think the bathhouse would be a great choice for this particular thing.

Maybe on the "change name" page would make the most sense. You could have a check box or something that says "Keep legacy name notation" and a person could uncheck it if they wanted it to disappear.

Maybe a checkbox would be too simple - you'd want it so that a person wouldn't accidentally opt-out when they didn't actually want to.

Full support, I like the idea of the bathhouse or hustler. I don't care about keeping a legacy name, and I've already swapped a few of my (legacy) pet names, so I'd be happy to see them go*

I support this. I also have pets with bumped names such as Petname_123 which I adopted earlier, and now I don't know what's the plan under the new system. I'm still waiting for new pet colors, and I have put their free name changes on hold until I figure something out D:

I'm super glad this'll be a thing. The code to hide it is fine but there's something about the potential of totally obliterating a legacy link that, kinda pleases me on some unhinged level.

I have really conflicting feelings about the name system change, and I'm not even sure why lol. I'm happy with all my current pets and legacy names don't mean much anyhow.

I think it would be neat if the Hustler had a way to "erase your legacy" for your pets. That sounds like a cute lore thing, like he's burning their birth certificate and giving them a fresh start or something equally shady lol.
