We're going to be making major changes to the way the game portions of Subeta work, over the next few months! The first change we're going to implement is called we're calling the great rarity squish. I'm spending a lot of time right now reflecting on parts of the site that we made that way just because of popular games at the time, and how we can shift those into 2020. Some might seem cosmetic, but lead into larger game changes and this is one of those!
Item Rarities Can you tell me the difference between R50 and R75? 75 and 79? Nope! We never had item budgets (which is that an item that is R60 needs to meet specific qualities, if it's a battle item it has to have certain stats) and would release sets of items with one chosen to be the "rare" one (sometimes the blue pants! green shirt!) without any real intention behind it.
We're going to pack all of our current items (r1-99) into five new rarities! These names are gaming standard, so we are likely to call them something a little more ✨ subeta special ✨.
R1: Common R2: Uncommon R3: Rare R4: Epic R5: Legendary
All of the sets of items that were broken up so that one teal shoe could be R95 will all be normalized into common/uncommon. R5 is less than one hundred items, and will restock very infrequently, giving you a sense of actual value of items based on their rarity.
Timeline We've done the squish on the backend, and are doing one last comb over every single item to ensure that we've put them into the correct categories. Once we're sure about the categories have gone into, we'll post again with the next steps including a restocking shop overhaul based on these changes.

This sounds epic! I can't wait to see the changes!
less than 100 items
What does this mean? Less than 100 items will ever exist on the site? Less than 100 can be in circulation at one time?
That sounds like it'll be potentially complicated to get used to, but it would make a lot more sense with the highest rarity really actually being rare!

Oh that rocks! I'm looking forward to it. :D
As a restocker, I'm both apprehensive and excited by this.
I do like the rarity idea which is awesome, it's the "restocking shop overhaul" that has me worried. Pretty much the only reason I'm on this site is for restocking.
YES! A simple, straightforward way to understand rarity. :)
Wow, what a big change! That rocks, it is so cool to see big changes being rolled out. It's gonna feel like a whole new game.
"R5 is less than one hundred items"
There are fewer than 100 items with the R5/ legendary tag. Other rarities will have more items as they're more common.
forever collecting:
to put in my food gallery!
Ohhhh, so there won't be more than 100 items with the R5 tag. That makes more sense. Thank you.
What will this mean for quests and what items they ask for?
Also, I kind of dread having to relearn restocking now 😰
Hm. I'm curious, but the one thing that has me worried are potion prices.
Potions are in constant demand (especially after a pet gets released in a certain colour), and staff already have to rebalance their usershop prices with token shop restocks. Personally, I'm hoping that there will be a place that keeps them perma-stocked. 🙏
This looks like it’ll be amazing :D so excited to see the next changes too
Oh finally, I hate this current apparently random system of rarities that doesn't tell me anything about the item itself, it is just a number for me...
Thrilled about this! Really appreciating all the small quality-of-life changes happening around the site lately - makes me feel a little more optimistic for the long haul!

How does this work for things that never restock (holiday items, retired items, free items - all of which probably have different modes) and CWs?
Interesting! I also like how updates are more and more frequent these days, thanks!
The new rarity system will only affect the current R1-R99 items, so stuff like holiday items, retired items, free items and CWs will remain intact I suppose.
My question is : Won't this make it harder to restock decent items to resell? I depend mostly on sP earned through my shop from restocking ... not sure how I feel about this!
