The Love Truck Adventure To The Sky Part 1

Frieda wiped the last of the polish from Passion Flower’s gleaming copper engine tubing, brass fittings and bronze ductwork and laughed at her distorted reflection in the curved shapes.

Happy Wanderer, her Royal Transport, fared a little better, it at least could berth 8 comfortably along with a full cargo of medical supplies, serve hot meals from it’s small galley and had a shower and real sit-down toilet. But with eight creatures on board, it was not the best vehicle to take on a long journey.

The Krakatoa was out of the question; the large three masted sailing ship of the line that had all the luxuries that one could want on a long journey, as long as you were on the open sea. But you were at the whim of the wind and the waves, which is why she was having it refitted as a hospital ship to care for the underserved clans and tribes of citizens of Subeta.

The Terrapin Glider defied definition, there was no telling what it was meant to be, one could only tell what it was. It was massive, cobbled together from thousands of old space ships, gun ships, transport ships and luxury liners. It looked like a turtle, with solar sails. But inside, it was pure luxury, like the best that life could offer.

The Terrapin Glider had a massive gourmet kitchen and a pantry stocked with all the most yummy food for almost any sentient species. It had a wine cellar with the rarest vintages and it never seemed to run dry. It had a movie theater, a library, a game room with all the latest gaming console as well as gaming tables for everybody's favorite table games. If you wanted to watch Vid and drink beer, there were a thousand channels and a thousand different beers. It was even said that somewhere on this ship there was a swimming pool, a billiards table and a bowling alley, but Frieda had never found it yet.

Frieda was given the Terrapin Glider by an old friend who left Subeta and gave away all their possessions in a contest. Frieda had asked for a pretty scarf and was given the spaceship instead. She was a little intimidated by it at first, but when she took the controls to fly it back to Omen Islands where she and Weldon lived when on-world, she fell in love with the way if responded to her touch. It is the flagship of her fleet and she has finally finished restoring it after it's last battle two years ago.

So, here we are, set to go on a vacation aboard the Terrapin Glider. It's a joy-ride of sorts, there really isn't much of an itinerary, Frieda and Weldon have a few ideas of what they might do if nobody else has any suggestions, but there are very little expectations. It certainly not going to be a vacation like her mother would plan...right down to the minute so that they could cram in every touristy sight-seeing place in the tour book.

Frieda is going to go about the Subetaverse, picking up her friends and bringing them aboard. Once everybody is accounted for, then the adventure can begin. What does somebody wear when boarding a famous (infamous?) craft like the Terrapin Glider? As you join in on the adventure, make introductions, and discuss what might happen in the next few days, it's probably best that you are dressed for the occasion.

Chook was all prepared for the adventure. She actually was hoping that she could help out by flying the Terrapin Glider around part of the Subetaverse, helping Frieda to pick up her friends. Outfit Not Found If that was not possible then she would make sure that she helped find the pool and tanning salon, as well as the beauty parlor and the bar. Not necessarily in that order. Gene doesn't get out or off-world very much. He enjoys his time on Atebus - both during the masquerade and on the rare occasions when he gets the urge to go on his own just to explore - but for the most part he's a bit of a homebody and honestly doesn't even leave Shadowglen quite as often as he probably should. It's an easy enough fact to excuse with a house to expand and things to make and junk to collect and caverns to explore but...

The moment they heard about this voyage, the menagerie informed him that it was time for him to take a vacation. That included, evidently, a break from caring for his ever growing band of misfits, as the more responsible members of the pack promised to make certain that no one got hurt and nothing was destroyed while he was gone. As much as he would like to trust them, he'll believe it when he sees it.

Having a chance to explore a ship like the Terrapin Glider, however, is more than enough incentive for him to go. Gene, you see, is of the general opinion that so long as you're well-prepared for a long wander, getting lost is just another way of finding adventure. He'd like to pop in to see the controls at some point, he plans to have a good look around the engine room, and he'll most certainly be spending a great deal of time making use of the kitchen but who knows where else he might find himself and that thought is tremendously exciting.

Lypsyl looked around her stateroom. Fortunately it was big enough to hold all the stuff she brought with her. She always over-packed for holidays, but having no idea what would happen on this trip she wanted to be prepared for anything!

Her luggage contained everything from fancy evening wear to sturdy sporting wear, including her bike. She was fully prepared for any fun to be had!

Jenn and Kwixis board the Terrapin Glider. They walk through the corridor and pass in front of a large window. "We can watch the world pass by as Frieda flies the ship to pick up the other passengers." Kwixis is distracted by the flashing lights scattered about. Jenn realizes that he really doesn't care about the view. She sighs. "This could be a long trip."

"Look Sophee! There they are! I told you they wouldn't forget us! Frieda, she knows all of our places of residence...it's in her little book that she writes in." Sophee looks up at Beach, her tail wagging and her smile telling Beach that she wasn't worried in the least. "Let's see, I have a bag with my clothes, your food and a water dish. There is my laptop and cell phone; oh, and the guitar for sing-a-longs. Here's that canvas bag just in case there are seashells we can collect. Hmmm...oh yeah, cookies for everyone, especially Duane, dragonrider88 and Frieda...they love my cookies!" Beach keeps waving and jumping up and down excitedly, watching while the ship is expertly landed, missing all the cacti and tumbleweeds.

"Hugs and cookies all around!!" ...and the adventure begins!!

Once aboard the ship, Keliora immediately went in search of the bowling alley.

A couple hours later, she was no closer to finding the bowling alley, but she had discovered a trampoline room, an arcade, an indoor garden and a screening room along the way.

No matter - it was going to be a long trip and she would have plenty of time to continue exploring throughout their travels! Now if only she could find her way back to her room...

Bohicon stared at the grand ship hardly believing her eyes. It was more beautiful than she could ever have imagined. A new adventure! This was just the thing Bohicon needed and it had been too long. She hoped she had packed enough as she gathered her things and prepared to board.

Weldon was busy overseeing refueling of the Terrapin Glider by the technicians he had paw-picked to do the job. It was a highly technical job, opening up the magnetic Klein bottle neutrino recirculation duct could go wrong at any step along the way causing significant damage to the engine, or the local region of the galaxy.

Frieda had just finished checking all the systems in the cockpit and had some free time to check on the passengers. Now was as good a time as any to have a cookie. She wondered if had any.

Lypsyl thanked for the delicious cookie!

Once she finished unpacking, she started exploring the ship and hoped she'd meet some of her fellow passengers.

Yay! Cookies!! Cookies make everything ok!! Going to go take a nap. If you guys need me, just knock 3 times on the window! hugs

Bohicon was thanking for the delicious cookies even while eating them. She hoped the cookies she brought would be as good and offered them to Frieda. Bohicon was pretty sure she could survive on cookies for the whole trip.

Chook was preening herself getting ready for the swim then the bar. She was also looking for who she had not sighted. Chomping on one of Frieda's cookies she saw Bohicon with more cookies. She grabbed one off the plate, stuffed into her mouth and said, "Ou onna ee ew oovie ov ock?'

   Untying  her suircase, which she had neatly packed rolling up each of her pieces,

 Violet was so happy she was almost shivering!  It will be so great to see her friends again.

Many of the adventurers had already arrived to the Terrapin Glider, boarded, found a stateroom, stowed their luggage and were dressed for departure. Some adventurers had not yet arrived and were in fact waiting to be picked up. The fueling was completed without any noticeable effect on the local space/time continuum and all mooring lines were released.

Weldon closed the boarding hatches, drew in the gangway and signaled for takeoff. The panels on the top of the craft opened and solar masts unfurled and rigging drew the sails taught to capture the sun's rays and to utilize it's energy. When the signal was given Frieda engaged the engines and the Terrapin Glider rose silently from her berth, and sailed toward the first pick-up point.

Once underway, Weldon made an announcement over the ships intercoms. "Welcome aboard the Terrapin Glider. We have a few passengers that we are picking up and then we will set sail for our eventual destination, Baccus, the pleasure planet within the Subetan Sentient Planets System. The Bar and Lounge is open, please feel free to partake. Again, Lady Frieda and I welcome you aboard. She will join us once our course is set."

Hugs! So glad you changed your mind. We are going to have a ball, each and everyone of us. The bar and lounge have just opened so lets go find you a stateroom, get rid of your bag and them we will go get a drink and something to munch on.

Is V on board yet? If she is let's go find her, I am sure she will join us. I am sure I overheard a few of the others say they were meeting up in the lounge so it will be good to catch up with them all again. I will join you having a cocktail and some cashew or macadamia nuts to munch on, sounds good.
