Wasn't that, erm, promised over a year ago?

It's taking longer because they said it's a big project, bigger than what was originally planned

Part of me is absolutely excited, another part is just hoping it'll be worth the wait and won't leave me like...ok?

I read the art work is going to be amazing but generally I have no idea what to expect from the Teahouse.

(I only hope it's interactive in a way, something we can do with our Pets; that would be cool.)

Honestly, after a year, pretty much anything they give will be a disappointment to someone...

I'm still hopeful :) though tbh I hadn't realised it's been a whole year :o

I'm still looking forward to seeing it, although at this point I kind of just want it to be released so we can finally get the other two things we're still waiting for as well (gardens revamp and Centropolis West Side map).

Also maybe in the future, new features like this should just be worked on and released when they're ready instead of having us vote on the order. That way we don't end up waiting over a year for a land map that probably wouldn't take super long to create, but now it can't be released until the other two things because it didn't win the vote.

I agree with this. It was a cute idea at the time but the execution is just making people wonder where all the promises went. I understand that Staff ended up doing more than they planned with the teahouse, but as it stands, it just looks nothing is being done when that's probably the furthest from the truth. We've had two or three threads like this pop up now?

Yes, it looks like Subeta staff is merely being lazy when after a year a new shop(?) is still unreleased. After 3 months, I would expect a lovely shop. After 6 months, perhaps a new daily or stat boost thing. After a year? It had better be a new pet color or something really really fantastic -_-

Instead we seem to be getting plenty of new clothes. Yay. Where are all the new pet colors and promised stuff already? And whatever happened to the business HA contest? And if nothing is going to be done with Minion Zoos then just scrap it already. It feels like Subeta is flailing around and leaving things half done.

There's little QoL improvements that could easily be made instead, like making the inventory require less clicking or loading new pages.

I think it was rushed because of the new gallery/shop limit. People needed a place to but their minion collections outside of the galleries, so that's what the Minion Zoo ended being. I'm not sure if it'll ever end up going anyway.

I thought I remembered seeing something about the original ideas for the minion zoo being too complicated to implement at the time, so it was put on hold. Not sure if anything is ever going to come of that, but at least some minion-related achievements would be something to do with it.

"Suddenly". :P The minion zoo was being worked on for at least a year before release. Remember when we were asked to help categorize minions by type? Most people correctly predicted that they were working on a minion battling system, and I know a lot of people had doubts about how that would work out (especially given that Neopets' petpet battles are the most useless thing ever.) But they went ahead with it anyway and somehow didn't stop to ask a) whether we really needed a second battle system or b) how they'd properly assign stats and skills to over 3000 minions in a balanced way. So then the beta came out, flopped, and was quickly brushed under the rug, but we got the minion zoo out of it. 👍

As for the tea hut, this situation just makes me think of all the kickstarter games that have failed over the years thanks to feature-creep or changing direction midway through a project, which is something I've become very wary of when new projects are announced so early in development, Kickstarter or otherwise. At least Subeta has its own income and doesn't need to worry about burning through KS funds, but it still hurts to watch a project go dark like this with no updates.

If the tea hut is still pretty far off from completion, maybe it's time to consider throwing out the poll results and releasing that Centropolis map instead to tide people over?

I agree. I think it makes the site look a bit unprofessional when everywhere else has a proper map.

Agreed. I mean, the poll results are all well and good, but is anyone actually going to be mad if they released the other stuff first? I doubt it. Especially since the reason is "this result was so popular we decided to make something even COOLER out of it, so it'll take longer." Subeta has a whoooooole lot of half-finished projects. It's better to get the "easy" stuff like the map out of the way, so people don't feel like there's just no progress being made at all.

I liked the petpet/neurogalaxy style combat system. Yes, we have a combat system already but boy is it complicated and expensive as all heck.

Maybe the minion arena will be out back of the tea hut, just beside the raked gravel garden below a hatch behind one of the rocks that looks like a monk.

Part of me wonders if something like devloper's updates would be feasible? Maybe screenshots if they have art progress or something of the like, doesn't have to be too much

I feel personally a problem is just the radio silence, because I know things can take forever to code and make assets for, but maybe some little updates here and there to remind people stuff is being worked on would help just a litttle?

Not as complicated as Pokemon; what the fuck is complicated about Subeta's? And the expense is reasonable when you're in it for the long haul of any hobby on here, be it wearables, CWs, plushie collections, gourmand, or battling.

This isn't the first time we've had radio silence from staff on various concerns or issues. Part of the reason is because its summer, but as for any other reason, I can only speculate there simply aren't enough staff members anymore. I don't know the site's financial state of being, but the last time the radio silence was addressed, we were told the site was breaking even.

afaik, there's an smail and an item directory revamp in process too. idk if the CW update Bug hinted at got pushed, I don't follow that feature so someone else will know about it way better than I do. :x

My guess is that they've decided to put functionality & modernizing ancient areas of the site to streamline old code before releasing new features, so that's why we were seeing more QoL updates instead of these promised features.

ngl I am hoping for at least some actual info in tomorrow's update. :/ So far, the last two or three weekly updates were... kind of empty.

Also, pls no on the minion battling. No thank you.
